Time to reduce run speed with vehicles inbound?
Murdume replied to Bororm's topic in General Discussion
I agree that sprint speed does need to see a decrease, however I'm not fully behind any sort of weight system determined by inventory yet. Vehicles are going to be extremely buggy and I have no doubt that walking is going to remain the primary means of movement. It would just make the vocal minority even more vocal. -
A few things from my perspective. It's just my opinion, so take it with a salt if you so choose. I own both an 91/30 Mosin Nagant and a 20" AR-15. Sure, it's not an m4 such as what is found in the game, it is however a similar weapon in design and parts. The 91/30 is a weapon that was largely mass-produced, regardless of quality, to give to the unfortunate Ivan that was being pointed in the direction of German lines and being told to run. It wasn't exactly and isn't exactly known for its ability to hit dead in as well as its contemporaries (K98 or Lee Enfield, for example). My 91/30 shoots to the left of wherever the sights are lined up, meaning you have to adjust your shot. Sure, once you learn your rifle it's not really a problem to get the round on target. What also amused me was that no one mentioned the "Sticky bolt" syndrome that Mosin's can get. Sticky bolt is a result of storage, and I doubt in a scenario such as the zombie apocalypse, that they took the time to remove the cosmoline from the weapons before putting them to use. I'd also like to know how if my character isn't trained in firearms and hence his accuracy should suffer, how he attaches after market optics to a mosin nagant without any kind of tools. Another thing about the talk of the adjustment from a full sized rifle round to the intermediate was for multiple reasons, aside from the fact that full sized rifle rounds were far more powerful than necessary and were often used by rifles larger than what was necessary for an urban environment. The reason I'd like to talk about though is the fact that intermediate rounds are far lighter than full sized rifle rounds. Carry 300 rounds of 5.56, then swap out and carry 300 rounds of nugget food, the difference becomes evident soon enough. Then there's this argument about M4 reliability vs AK reliability. Sure, you could argue this for days but it mostly comes down to the eyes of the beholder. An M4 isn't as unreliable as it's portrayed, this is just a stereotype that has been perpetuated since Vietnam because of a screw up on the government's part. It just boils down to whatever you feel more comfortable. In a place like, say a former communist country with a particular zombie infestation, an AK style weapon would likely be ideal, both for the common ammunition and spare parts.

Washboard minigames? Hell yes.

I would like to see communities pop up where asshats and asspained iindividuals such as OP are filtered out. Until the dust settles though and the cawaduty and battlecrasg players vacate, I will continue to creep around innawoods - watching.

Miscreated looks pretty neat.

I walk out about a mile into a heavily wooded area, and after thirty minutes of lathering both my rifles and myself in cosmoline, I burrow deep into the ground. From there, my character hibernates in Nature's womb waiting for me to return the next day after work to resume our adventures.

This game needs more Chechen lawnmowers and less Western military tech. The first time I found an M4 and not a glorious Ivan approved AK goodness. Then, to add insult to injury, I can't get a makarov but I can get an FNX .45. Needs more Soviet influence in a, you know, former member of the Bloc.

What should the rarest item in standalone be?
Murdume replied to Twixxer's topic in General Discussion
Deagle brand Deagle capable of firing baby seeking bullets from it's assault clipazines. -
I don't blame you man. I teamed up with a guy and played with him for two hours until he beat me to death with an axe after we found a mosin and said "Nothing personal, just how DayZ is." So, how do I respond? I just play DayZ as "it is" and I KoS anything that moves. Why risk dying being a good guy when I can kill them and stay safe.
-
I've found that once you have your weapon out, and press T, the rifle switches from fully automatic to it's single fire mode.
-
You sir, get beans.

90% of KoS complaints could be avoided if people would stop hugging the coast and go explore the big inland towns that go virtually untouched by anyone but the smart players.

My favorite part of the game is travelling the inland roads, looking at the fall scenery. Love me some orange leaf trees.

I play with a group of friends where we have one person running around with a scope mosin whilst the rest of us utilize M4s. M4 is a very good weapon in the game, most people miss use it and would rather fire it in full-retard rather than switch it's fire mode to semi-automatic. Put it on semi-automatic and you can have a field day killing whoever attempts to come at you.
