If you sprint, (double-tap W) with nothing in your hands, you can out pace them and once you're far enough ahead of them they give up. But you also need to try and put some sort of obstacle between you and them to try and break line of sight, otherwise they keep following you.

If you are on the coast that's probably why. Most of the coastal towns are picked clean within the first 30 minutes or so after a server restart. You need to head in-land to find the good stuffz.

Regular servers allow 3rd person and 1st person, Hardcore servers only allow 1st person. If you play on a 3rd person server then switch to a Hardcore server your character does not carry over to the hardcore server. If it's your first time playing on a Hardcore server you will start with a fresh spawn. If you then return to a Regular server you should, in theory, retain your previous character that you were playing the last time you were on a Regular server.

How many times does this need to be said... There are no NON-PvP servers. PvP is part of what makes DayZ what it is. If someone puts a name on a server saying that it is a NON-PvP/Friendly only server they are fooling themselves and the players that join said server, as there is no way to stop people from playing PvP on their server. If the server admin is constantly kicking people for PvP, and his server IP gets reported enough times, he will lose his server and any money that he paid to host it.

I usually play stealth when I am by myself and avoid others as much as possible... unless I can get the upper hand and surprise someone. Then I shoot first and ask no questions later. I rarely ever talk to anyone in game that I do not know personally... I learned very early on that any random person you talk to will stab you in the back given the chance.

I ran into 3 zombies out in the middles of nowhere last night. Same thing, kind of. I was running through the woods north of Krasnostav, west of the airfield and I heard a zombie sound. Thinking the same thing as the OP I ignored it and kept moving... I wasn't sprinting just jogging along with my M4 in hand. I hear it again, but it sounded closer this time. I spin around and there is a zombie about 10 yards behind me... I dropped him and I hear another zombie. I spin around and to see 2 more zombies running at me, one from my 3 o'clock and one from my 10 o'clock. I was just like WTF!!! Needless to say they didn't get close to me before they went down, but I just thought it was strange that they would be that far out into the woods. The only thing I can think of is that they had chased someone from Krasnostav and stopped in the woods once they lost sight of the person.

At this point I think I'm up around the 20 mark, but I haven't really been keeping tabs on how many people I've killed... Although I did bag 2 more last night in Svetlojarsk... One was camping a rooftop across from the hospital, and one was sniping from the rocks on the hillside overlooking the town.

Several new items were added in the recent patch... I found that pistol flashlight last night as well, along with several different colored berets, a hacksaw, and a long barreled shotgun. But due to the character reset issue currently going around, I lost them all.

I like the replies under the comic on their site... sounds to me like maybe two of those people have actually played the game... lol

The reason you haven't figured out how to put anything in the cooking pot is because that function doesn't work yet. :)

At no point in this thread did anyone say anything disparaging about the deaf/mute community. If the OP was a deaf/mute person I'm sure that would have been added and if that was the case I am sure some of the responses, including mine would have been more constructive towards that end.

yes, please amass a large group of people on the construction site that only has 2 exit points and make sure you give us all a time/date/IP... lulz... it's will be a blood bath.

If you plan on playing DayZ for any length of time, then it's highly recommended to invest in a headset. You need to be able to communicate in this game, especially if you plan on grouping with anyone. Personally if I ran across you in-game and tried to talk to you and you didn't respond, I'd send a few bullets your way thinking that you were up to no good.

I have no problems with mods as long as they are all server based so everyone on that server can benefit from them. No client side mods, that can add unfair advantages.

Just about anything will spawn in the construction buildings... rifles, handguns, melee, packs, food, canteens, and so on and so on. I've found just about everything there is to find in game at those buildings at one point or another. The thing that probably spawns the least in those buildings is medical supplies... you see the random bandage here and there, but I haven't seen many saline bags and meds in them.

No storage of any kind, other then what you can carry.

The environment is not that varied, it's pretty much all rolling countryside with some large towns, large villages, small villages, factories, etc... but the environment itself is an Autumn setting... there are no snow areas, no desert, none of that sort of thing if that's what you're looking for. As for humans being your worst enemy, that is correct. Since this is alpha and they are still in the process of testing server load balance, world spawns, item spawns, and the like, the zombie level has been turned down extensively. I wouldn't image that at any one place there are more then 5 to 10 zombies in any city at any one time. Plus due to the fact that the zombies dont yet respawn, once they are all killed the only danger that remains is the other humans on the server.

My initial question would be, why are you filling up you limited storage with all that food and water? I never carry any food with me, and I only carry 1 bottle of water and 1 canteen. If you eat food as you find it you shouldn't have to hoard it in your pack and there are wells everywhere. Makes no sense to me personally. I prefer to fill my pack with ammo, meds, attachments, etc...

Finish this saying... "Glitch me once, shame on you. Glitch me twice, shame on me. Glitch me five times, ..."

Like everyone above has said... don't get to attached to your equipment just yet. Being an alpha there are going to be issues like the one you faced and there are also character wipes with certain updates. So yes, you spent a lot time scavenging for gear, as have we all.
