The first time I logged in last night when I got home from work I spawned in to a "You are Dead" screen. I exited the game and logged back into the server and I was back alive with all my gear. This happens from time to time.

I had this happen to me last night. Dropped my Mosin on the ground to eat, I was also carrying an M4. Finished eating and could not pick up my Mosin for the life of me. I tried for a good 10 minutes to pick that rifle back up... it had a pristine bipod and a pristine long range scope on it. I was kind of pissed as I walked away from it, but I still had my M4. :)

Whenever I visit any of the airports or military bases there seem to be packs laying all over the place...

I have one on my M4, it's only current value is cosmetic.

I found .357 Mag ammo in the back of the grocery store in Berezino. The .357 Mag itself I find at the military bases and airfields.

Filling the canteen in a pond is bugged... it doesn't work properly. You need to find a well and fill it up there.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but both of those items have been in-game for some time.

My guess is that they put a few more items in with this latest patch... I have seen the Stabproof Vest before in one of those buildings with the jail cell at the airstrips, but it was badly damaged so I didn't bother picking it up. I haven't seen the press vest, or the puffy coat... and I was on that shipwreck just the other day after a server restart.

First things first... once you have secured food and water, which it appears you have, head inland away from the coast. If the server you are on hasn't been restarted in a while it's pretty safe to say the coastal towns have been picked clean. So head away from the coast and look for jails, hospitals, grocery stores, military bases, and airports... those will all give you the best shot at finding a weapon.

Items such as tent's, barricades, and possibly bases, according to Rocket in one of the streams he's posted will be persistent. I'm not sure if this persistent state means on that particular server, meaning locally or if they will be persistent server side, which means you would have access on any server you join. I don't think that it has been completely fleshed out yet by the design team. Besides, any sort of base building, if implemented, is a long ways off.

I have, me and two of my buddies all had them on our M4's and we all tested them. Although I know there are a lot of issue with sounds lately. I had a buddy fire a Mosin while I was standing not even 10 feet from him and I didn't hear him fire a shot, I just saw the zombie we were both aiming at drop. I was like "did you shoot him?". He said "yea, didn't you hear my fire?", "nope, didn't hear a thing."

I am in the same boat. I would never stop for a bandit. I just keep running along doing what I was doing. Especially if I have just respawned... I'm not going to waste my time playing along with some douche that's more then likely just going to force feed me rotten fruit or disinfectant, sorry, my time is more valuable to me then to waste it dealing with that kind of crap. If they decide to shoot at me then that's their prerogative.

I had this issue last night when Steam was having issues... Haven't been able to test yet today since I am now at work.

Nope, they do not work. I have one on my M4 and it makes no difference when firing the weapon.

I have been playing this game since the Steam release date, haven't made a single friend. Early on everyone I tried to talk to or get closer then 20 yards to either attacked and tried to kill me, or ran away thinking I was going to try and kill them. Your best bet is probably to make friends on the forum or within a gaming community/clan and play with them, rather then trying to make friends in-game. At this point I will only play DayZ with people from my gaming community, because everyone else is a ruthless bastard... lol.

There are a lot of other issue that need to addressed before they start adding more zombies... and the zombies have been scaled back at this point because they are testing the servers to see how many items they can add before things start to really bog down the system. This is alpha, this is testing, this is helping the devs make decisions on overall game play, this release is not meant to be final. Things will change with time, as the warning stated on the Steam page before you bought the game. Jump on a server that has just been restarted and fire a round in the middle of town... see how many zombies come charging at you then. :) And personally the least of my concerns at this point are more zombies... I would like to see an end to the random frame stutters, the random zombie sounds and other assorted noises you hear, the often slow response to hotbar functions, etc, etc...

Do not attempt to descend down any ladder that are clipped through any part of the build geometry, in doing so your character will walk off of the edge to attempt get on the ladder and fall to his\her death. I found this out the hard way myself. I try to avoid using ladders if at all possible.

Could have been a combination of blood loss and health loss due to your illness. Make sure you eat and drink plenty of water so the blood/health regen kicks in. Also a saline IV will help with the blood loss, but you may still need to regenerate health.

Make sure that you have nothing in your hands. Running with a weapon in hand or anything for that matter will slow you down. If you have nothing in your hands, simply double tapping W will make you run almost twice as fast as someone with something in their hands.

I have a magnum on my character and all I had to do was drag the ammo over the weapon and select load... it loaded 5 rounds into the weapon without any issues.

I for one welcome a cut in the M4 spawns... it seemed to me like everyone and their brother has an M4. I know that when I spawned in I usually had one and ammo within 10 to 15 minutes, depending on spawn location. Personally prefer the Mosin, but I never passed up the opportunity to grab an M4 until I found one.

The point of the game in essence is to survive for as long as possible. There will be other things to do to bide your time, eventually. Since the game is in Alpha there are many things that are not implemented at this stage. So currently there isn't much to do except trying to survive.
