It's funny how $$$ can make a developer very happy to optimize a game! It'll be on PS/XB in the future.

Oh My GOD! (exploding Petrol Stations)

lol that is awesome -
Yeah I have two magnums right now even. Just got the other to hand off to a friend or maybe some fresh spawn for the lols 1 shot kill to the chest is a bit much though. To the head, sure.

I bet that KoSer was pissed off!

Sounds like you need to touch up your make-up. Maybe chat with the other girls about how rude those people on the internet are. lol -
Just want to see community preference on 1st/ 3rd person servers quickly.
Dauntless (DayZ) replied to AP_Norris's topic in General Discussion
Yeah 3rd person is going to stay. It's a video game. I don't care about immersion. -
Our group always shoots geared players for the same reason, but obviously having less of a reason to constantly kill geared players would mix it up in a good way Shoot & Loot is interesting for only so long, after all. DayZ is about survival, sure, but survival without depth gets kind of stale after a while. I can survive in Call of Duty or Battlefield, although there aren't any zombies there, too.

Idea to stop farming on emty server

So you want match-making aka console Nope. -
Server hoppers: A renewable resource.
Dauntless (DayZ) replied to -DMG-Jonesy's topic in General Discussion
Nah, making all public servers that way is a retard level kind of fix. If it's a private server, okay sure, no problem. But sorry, your "solution" is whack. Also once they tweak loot respawn, server hopping obviously won't be a big deal. Most people are getting SA tunnel vision and can't see the obvious tweaks that will occur. Same with logout time to deter combat loggers. -
Please do not change the loot of intensities to prevent Server hoppers
Dauntless (DayZ) replied to tiagoaccorsi's topic in General Discussion
It's cool that a player can't get super geared up easily, but nobody wants to run around for 45 minutes to find a M4 or a magazine because the server is picked clean, either. Also on any server that is picked clean, there's no reason to go to loot areas after that. At least when there is more loot, people have a reason to return there, thus interactions or PvP or what have you. Having a reason to move is good, but loot that doesn't ever respawn (sans server restart) isn't the best solution. -
Yeah the full release will have more to do than killing fresh spawns or just squad-vs-squad. I do like the penalty to spraying up players though. Reward people that pick their headshots and you can get their gear. If you full-auto M4 somebody's torso, well, have fun with a lot of damaged equipment.

This is not what I hoped DayZ would be
Dauntless (DayZ) replied to andrestor's topic in General Discussion
For a lot of people, yeah that's probably their main issue, their own frustration. Or they play solo and that's not exactly survival conducive, either. (then again, I don't know how people play solo unless it's to goof off... cuz I'd get bored w/o being on ts with some friends) At the same time, from a game design perspective, if DayZ isn't able to rise above being just a 'post-apocalyptic deathmatch', then it's kind of two dimensional and boring. So for some posters, I get what they're saying, and if they played the mod, that too. PvP oughtn't go anywhere, it's a great facet of the game, but there needs to be more. At the moment, SA is pretty bare-bones so it doesn't have much besides PvP, and that probably puts off a lot of people -- the OP included. DayZ could be a pretty phenomenal experience if it's given added depth to balance out the purposes of PvP and everything else, but that can be a bit tricky from a design perspective. -
Trying to help people new to the game.

Just being sarcastic. Sounds cool that you guys enjoy looking for more out of DayZ than shoot everything, good luck -
Server hoppers: A renewable resource.
Dauntless (DayZ) replied to -DMG-Jonesy's topic in General Discussion
Rocket isn't going to restrict a single character to a single server. Just use your head. Obviously what will be implemented is logout time. Also they'll tweak loot respawns. It won't stop server hopping, but right now, it's the only way to get properly geared up. So it'll cut down on some of it. -

Dauntless (DayZ) replied to andrestor's topic in General Discussion
Yeah I agree, it's impossible for there to be degrees of anything. Either 24/7 peace or 24/7 war. Just kidding. Maybe you'll get the point though. -

Dauntless (DayZ) replied to andrestor's topic in General Discussion
It isn't. If you're stupid though, sure, it's good fun. It's like people who enjoy the absolute worst comedy. People who tell you that they enjoy Dane Cook and when you look at them to be sure you heard them right, they actually mean it. Yeah, that kind of stupid. It doesn't take much to excite them. -
Nah, put a Deagle in the game then you'll have a real hand cannon. Magnums are meh.

Dauntless (DayZ) replied to andrestor's topic in General Discussion
Nah. I don't care about insulting people. It helps that I don't particularly care either about trying to convince anybody of an opposing viewpoint. Most of the time that's a waste of time. Sure I'll call a spade a spade though. PvP-centric players on DayZ really aren't all that bright, I would get bored so fast if that were my main purpose in playing the game. May as well go load up Quake or Counter-Strike. -
More zombies won't encourage cooperation. I wouldn't seek out random people to cooperate with. It'll make you less likely to shoot at people, but that's about it. If in a squad of 4 though, that doesn't really matter. Just shoot them, shoot the zombies, and move on.

The difference between: Scumbag & Banditry...
Dauntless (DayZ) replied to TheCalyx's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, I agree 24/7 KoS is something that I love the most in the game. It's impossible for there to be degrees of anything, everything has to be 100% or 0%. Very true. Just kidding. Only a moron would think that. -
Except if a group of friends play together, they're already going to be constantly geared up to the max anyhow. Whether or not there are secondary characters available. What you describe makes it a little easier for a fresh spawn character to regain all their gear, the process would save them some time, but in the end most players will get most of their gear back, regardless. I get your reasoning, and you can exploit multiple characters, but there isn't actually that much of a risk in DayZ considering how easily you can reacquire essential equpiment anyhow. You die, you gear up again, rinse and repeat. Pros and cons and the cons aren't all that massive imo.
-
It actually does make a lot of sense.
-
Just not sure how they'd make the game more PvE, unless they buff the zombies (or add more types, etc etc). Or other ways of encouraging cooperation rather than deathmatch. Gotta be some middleground so it doesn't become World of Zedcraft.
-
To those who complain about spawn killers.
Dauntless (DayZ) replied to EastwoodHD's topic in General Discussion
It's even easier to shoot somebody in the head with 1 bullet. Nah, there isn't much of a learning curve either. Any non-handicapped person can grasp DayZ within 15minutes. DayZ doesn't take any skill really. Just stay out of danger, don't be a moron, play with your friends, etc etc. Easy, so easy. -

Dauntless (DayZ) replied to andrestor's topic in General Discussion
Nah, most of the DayZ hardcore PvP community are: 1) Too stupid to realize that 24/7 Deathmatch on SA is pretty shit 2) Too bad at FPS games where DMin' it up is fast and fun Only way to decrease KoS/Deathmatch though is to make players not want to Deathmatch. You have to give them a reason, otherwise the major revolving point of the game, past acquiring gear, is naturally to PvP. Easiest way to do that is make PvE more engaging, but with only slow unthreatening zombies around, that's unlikely. PvP has its place, but in DayZ it's actually quite boring and repetitive. Idiots never tire of repetition and are entertained easily though, so, there you go.
