Server hoppers: A renewable resource.
Dauntless (DayZ) replied to -DMG-Jonesy's topic in General Discussion
Yeah that server was either empty or full of people who didn't know better on how to look for equipment. Evidently not, since you're forced to server hop to gear up. Just gotta fix the respawning of equipment. That'll fix all the server hopping, and also like somebody else mentioned, areas with respawning equipment ought to be a No Log Zone. -
So you'd like for DayZ to be more about cooperation than 24/7 Deathmatch? Sounds too far-fetched for the community.

To those who complain about spawn killers.

You think DayZ is hard? It isn't. It's a lot easier to do well at it than any other FPS. Also, stage 3 is KoS everything, and keep an eye out. We caught a group of 5 guys handcuffing a dude to have some fun, guess what happened to them. Yeah, 5 guys and their handcuffed new friend got shot. Videos on Youtube of funny hold-ups are cute and all, but they open you up to getting ambushed pretty easy. No thanks, I'd rather keep my gear. -
Only way to steer the game away from PvP is to make players have a reason not to shoot at each other. In other words, make the environment more of a threat than actual players. PvP does get pretty boring, mowing down less coordinated squads is all too easy.

Most people against multiple characters are likely lone wolf types, who don't play with friends. Anybody that gears up with a group will easily understand the desire to just log-on and play with a secondary.

Discussion : KoS Mentality and how to keep it to minimum
Dauntless (DayZ) replied to LeoIvanov's topic in General Discussion
PvP and KoS are part of the game, for sure, and play a role in the overall scope of the world. But I'm fairly certain that people who play DayZ primarily to deathmatch have one or two things in common: 1) they're a little dumber than the rest 2) they're crap at other shooters If I want to frag and shoot stuff up, I'll load up anything from Quake, Counter-Strike, Team Fortress 2, to Call of Duty or Battlefield. Those games are exciting, they test your skill, they're fast-paced and fun. Yet a game like DayZ really isn't even remotely fun in terms of deathmatch, at least not as a primary focus. Most players who lone wolf it with the single goal to KoS everything are simply too stupid to realize that their experience is subpar at best, when compared to playing other shooters. One of the points that OP makes though is that the game lacks enough to do. After you're all geared up, adventured about a bit, besides fighting zombies and surviving and killing or defending yourself from other players -- you're a bit limited for goals in Chernarus. Not sure what the solution is to take DayZ further and beyond the current scope, to add more depth to it, but that's basically one part of the answer for making the game be a smarter version of itself. -
Just because you're bad at Quake/TF2/CS/CoD/BF, hardly makes DayZ a PvP-centric game. It's a part of it and no more. Yep. Fairly sure it's the general FPS rejects who flock to DayZ primarily for PvP, due to the slower pace and ease of hiding forever for an ambush. -- That said, I understand people's complaints of so many items being ruined from a kill, as from an objective standpoint, it shouldn't be that extreme. On the other hand, I do like that it discourages KoS players, which benefits the overall game and experience. If you want to play deathmatch, there are tons of better options out there. DayZ is a rather rubbish PvP experience.

Force mic chat: skype etc.. thru dayz?

No, OP sounds like a teenager actually. Perhaps younger than. Rocket is never going to implement forced VOIP though, so it's a total non-issue.
