So society breaks down and zombies take over. There is going to be murder. Dying does indeed suck, but honestly I like the realism. Here is my thoughts on realistically 'fixing' it. Town: Why cant there be 'the last town' like a stronghold of some-sorts. Makeshift high fence, Maybe an island. Its the only place we humans have left. This would still leave murder in the wild, but it IS the wild. In town could be controlled by 'guards' and 'watchtowers' that keep tabs on your actions in town. The town could survive realistically by players doing 'work' by manning the walls and guarding the town vs zed. Could implement some sort of rations wages or something. A town could also add a way to store loot(banking/house/hotel room). If you wanted realism your character could leave it in a 'will' to your next character. Which would make dying in the wilderness slightly less painful. Other then the hell walk to find civilization again. Guards: Guards could attack/jail players for fighting/instigating a fight. Fights out in the wilderness could be 'spotted' and reported. Guards could deal with the problem if he comes to town. Second idea spurring from the spotted fights was wanted posters. Killing could land a bounty on your head, dead or alive. Pvp: If there were two+ towns, There could be 'zone type' end of the world pvp. Not a problem, just a dream.
