Last time on DayZ . . . We murdered a man on the boat at Rify. He would have killed us without a thought--I have no doubt--but it sucks that we damaged the goods he had on him. Tonight we'll work our way down to Berezino since we have our SKS and ammo. We'll gear up at the police station there and get us some Bandit kills. Perhaps we'll even get into a few boxing matches? Bandits. Boy do I hate 'em, especially when I try to be decent and warn someone that their life is in danger, and they turn around and shoot me. We made our way up to the North East Airfield last night before logging off, and that's where we'll continue our quest for dominance. I may actually try to gear up some more in the Western side of the map since it's less populated, and we could probably get some siiiick gear from there. Last night was way too much fun We boxed in the ship at Rify, killed some bandits (13 year olds nonetheless) and I got handcuffed. Life in Chernarus is a charmed one, blokes. Kind of hard to put Rust and DayZ on the same field. I like being able to find my bearings in DayZ (never thought I'd say that) while in Rust, I like building shit. Oh, and hunting. They just seem to different to me. Where was I again? I thought this thread was about not combat logging and being brave. I've stuck to my guns plenty of times on my stream. It would have been funny for my viewers to see me hop out of combat, but I just stick through it. Consequently, I die at the end of each of my streams. But as the great philosopher Aristotle once wrote, "YOLO." Am I right guys? Oh! Small P.S. I'm giving out a copy of DayZ and Rust this weekend. It was 4 against 2. We should have won. But when they use one of your buddies as bait, well, there's only so much you can do. You've GOT to try and save him. I saw the flash of light from the mosin before the world went black. I want my enemies to experience that too. Tonight we head South again, towards that little hotspot known as Belota. The string of newbie ears around their necks? Remember how in Diablo 2 you could collect the ears of the people you killed in PVP? That would be an interesting, gory feature to DayZ. :P

Man, but when they have a helmet on, does it still do a knockout? Do you have a specific technique for taking them down in one punch? Do you switch to first person and aim to the upper left hand corner before swinging? I had some assassins after me the other night, and some good old fisticuffs would have saved me. I need to work on my footwork.

I tried playing on a night server the other day (I'm on the East Coast and play during the night--around 10:00PM EST when I stream), and though I've avoided night servers like the plague, I have to say that it's a pretty different experience. I like it! But, a headtorch seems like a must. Otherwise, combat against zombies is impossible. Also, I see plenty of night servers on the East Coast, at least at night. It bugs me when I'm trying to get a daytime server, ESPECIALLY when it says 24/7 day server in the title.

Haha! I've often had the same desire, Zardoz75! A kind of Scorched Earth approach: destroy all the supplies that could help the enemy. I come across shotguns and M4's that I can't use, and when I get shot sometime in the next few hours, i can't help but wonder if the guy used a shotgun I left behind. Sort of like how they left that German alive in Saving Private Ryan who comes back stabs one of the crew in the heart. At least you can hide bodies that have loot on them, but dammit, I don't want another player eating that fresh banana. Lemme blow it up!

I don't consider myself to be that much of a newb anymore (been playing the game on my Twitch stream for a few weeks and reading these forums) but I STILL found good advice in your video. Thanks for making this, sir, and I look forward to more videos from you in the future. By the way, I love your logo in the beginning of the video. :D

See, I usually try the OP's way. The people who view my stream can attest to that: I play a hero or at least a cautious survivor. I always try talking first; I don't shoot first. But last night, towards the end of my Twitch stream, I spoke, and a guy ran past me with a mosin. Not drawn, but on his back. He was saying "don't shoot, don't shoot!" and wizzed past me and my friends. Not even directly near us; he made a point to avoid us. I had plenty of opportunities to kill him, and I should have. Why? Because moments later, he attacked us. With his mosin. All we had were M4s, and he'd run far away, enough that he could use his scope to track us and we couldn't see him. Needless to say, we both lost our hard earned stuff. So now I'm thinking: if I see anyone with a weapon near me, they're dead.

As someone who has been killed a few times by bandits posing as heros, I would still have to say I wouldn't want this feature. It would erase some of the mystique of figuring out who this guy is that's scavenging across from you. The tension of not knowing if he's friend or foe would be greatly diminished.For me it has nothing to do with realism (or maybe not entirely). It's simply a matter of tension, of not trusting others fully, of learning from your mistakes and adapting. That thin line between paranoia and fear. So, no thank you. Please, argue for it as is your right; new systems aren't a bad thing, and people have proposed humanity systems before. Not all as visual as you suggest, but something to deter bandits. But I wouldn't want some visual indicator.

Hello again, fellow survivors! Last night, I let the decent hero in me win: a man ran past me, mosin strapped to his back, and said "don't shoot, don't shoot." I had my M4 out and ready. I let him live. Mere seconds later, one of my stream viewers begins gushing blood. He'd been shot by a mosin. We took refuge in a mine, but we were eventually killed. Fatigues. By far. Any kind of military or camo gear. Not everyone who wears camo gear is a bandit, of course, but most people who have killed me had camo gear on. Just sayin.'

Ah, got your DayZ bean popped, eh? I'd be interested to know how you'll behave as you play more. Some people get bitter and shoot anyone that passes by. Others become heroes and try to help anyone they can so that no one has to be shot in the face. And then there are the in-betweeners. I like to think there is where I stand. :P The people who watch my Twitch stream would agree, I think, but I also enjoy having a gunfight. I hope you have many more experiences, jbroge!
