I would say its debatable. More like there is a better chance to find military gear in a military area. In real life, there are people that have plenty of military weapons in their houses. Some people have A LOT of them.
-
The way I see it is that Zombies are an obstacle to get anything in the game. Prime loot spots are protected by Hordes of zombies. Building vehicles and bases then maintaining/protecting them should be an ongoing adventure(end game content). As well maintaining and replacing your gear. Survivors need food, water, bullets, weapon cleaning kits, meds, etc. on a regular basis. This would force you to go into high risk areas to obtain them. Currently, all there is to the game is getting gear and PvP. That will change when more features are added.
-
Examples: Server hoppers- log into an empty military building only to be swarmed by a huge horde of zombies when logging in. Players would have to log in away from these areas, think about tactics and approach with caution. It would take time and be risky to get gear. Cooperation would be required to clear these areas by design, if done properly. PvP Balance - Say you're a lone bambi, then if there is a group of Bandits near by it will be easier to notice because they will be alerting zombies and killing them creating a lot of noise. Zombies screaming and guns shots would make finding these groups easy. This allows you to use the distraction to attack the bandits or get away, creating a wonderful chaotic dayz moment. You see this in many games that mix PvE and PvP, it allows small strategic groups to make a huge difference instead of it being a numbers game. KOS - The best way to fix KOS is through giving the players a reason to cooperate. If its more beneficial for me to cooperate with you as opposed to killing you, then I'm more likely to cooperate. There needs to be so many zombies that the most efficient and effective way to get loot is by grouping, then you would see more grouping and less KOS. Also, if you're in a city sneaking around large hordes and someone decides to shoot at you, well then they better be ready to fight the horde. This would lower the frequency of KOS and higher the frequency of cooperation. Ofcourse, there is a lot of work to be done on the servers to allow more Zombies. There needs to be more work on the Zombie's AI and they need to be more difficult to kill and do more damage. That is the hard part. Placing the zombies appropriately isn't that hard.
-
Not at all, and I wasn't implying that it should be. I'm saying that PvE can easily fix major problems with the game and make if more fun.
-
It has been suggested before. However, that's no reason to stop talking about it. It is a fantastic idea. PvE is what's going to save this game. PvE can help server hopping, loot hoarding, KOS, and much more. PvE will give people a reason to cooperate and balance PvP. There should big very large hordes near all the best places to loot. That would make loot more rewarding and valuable. There should be so many zombies that you need to cooperate to clear these areas.

The lack off loot is not right ???

Has there been any Devs that have made a statement on this yet? It would be nice to know if this is a bug or they have intentionally spread out the loot. I was honestly tired of knowing what exact buildings to loot since good loot was spawning in specific locations. People would just hit certain spots, there wasn't this sense of having to actually explore. Instead we'd go to a certain group of buildings and expect there to be good loot. This is what made server hopping so effective. If the loot is thrown out there randomly with a higher chance of certain loot at specific locations, people would have to actually go out and search different locations. It would slow down server hopping and actually put loot hoarders at risk while leaving their preferred spot. -

There were a lot of the north/eastern areas that didn't have much loot before this patch, now that they reduced loot in the military areas people are complaining. It sounds like people don't want to explore new areas. Last night I got military pants, shotgun, mosin, sniper scope, mountain backpack some ammo...no prob. -

Dude don't get mad at people, there is no point. I didn't say it was intended but at this point, early alpha, the devs can "break the game" if they want. This is the the time they do stupid shit, whether its making bad choices or creating bugs unintentionally. You choose to test the game during this time. I know some people aren't familiar with testing games in an early stages, but all you can do is give your feed back and wait for the devs to do their job, fighting and arguing on the forums isn't part of testing. I can state my opinion, which is that most people who play server hop and loot military bases. If there isn't loot there I think its funny that people don't even know where to go for loot. -

What? I didn't say anything rude ,did you even read our posts? Yes, I know there is a problem I didn't ignore it, but things like this is expected. This is testing, there will be bugs, crashes, character wipes etc... it shouldn't be a surprise. This is something the devs are fully aware. To be honest no military loot isn't a big deal and not game breaking, there are places that do have loot just go there. People need to get real. -

What are you talking about? This is testing, there is no "breaking the game" right now. Things like this are expected, either they are bugs or they want to see what players do. -

10 minute is not enough to loot dead bodies you put down
The Mad Titan replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
The devs already said in a thread like this that the timer is so that you can't get your gear back -

The Mad Titan replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
I understand what you're saying, when I'm sniping and I get a kill I don't go for the loot for at least 10 minutes. That's just my strategy, I fully understand why its set at ten minutes now, its because if you can find your old body and loot it then its not truly perma-death. -

Doesn't matter, you will get killed or play like a pansy. I have no problem running up on all deck out fools and killing them with just a .45 -

I hope everything goes smoothly, looks like an awesome patch. I do think that dead character cleanup should be at least 20 min. -
We NEED some way to identify heros and bandits.
The Mad Titan replied to 1S1K-Airborne's topic in General Discussion
I feel that there should be something subtle, an example would be that the more you do bandit activities the more you facial expression turns from Neutral (default) to sad and then to pissed off. Then for Hero activities the opposite, your facial expression turns happy. Then it would be hard to tell from a distance but if you're close and trying to figure out if this person is really friendly this could help. Also, this encourages bandits to cover their face. Which sort of is the case now, but they would have a reason to do so and more of them would be wearing masks. -
