You seem to be in the minority with this opinion as well. You really need to check out World War II Online for an example of what a good 1st person experience in a very large continuouse map is like. One that works well with the slowed pace of long distance combat as well as the speed of close quarters. There is no bunny hoping (you cant even jump), no ice skatting 360's, no run and gun ttwitching (you dont even get an aim site firing from the hip)... its just smoother and feels better. Thats the only way to explane it The thing about that game is that they built their own engine in house specifically for it and have control over it. I dont know how much Rocket and his team can actually do to make 1st person "feel" better for the majority of players although fixing the broken sounds would help a lot. -
Why should being a bandit be discouraged at all? Why must there be that type of social engineering in what is supposted to be an open world sandbox game? What would you say if people started saying that PvE should be discouraged? Being "friendly" should be discouraged? Why dont you just play your game the way you want to and let others do the same?

Then why arent you pushing for the 4th Wall concept exemplified in the youtube video previously posted instead of pursuing this 1st person for all agenda? Again, nothing you have said fixes my problems with the 1st person view of this game (clunky controls and sound) you just keep saying how I "should" be playing to work around the suck. -

I dont know what to tell you... I mean if you want to get into what is "supposted" to happen then there arent even supposted to be survivors because zombies arent real. So I'll just stick to playing with my map on my tablet and talking to my friends on TS. -

Well you are clearly in the minority. As I said this experement has already been tried and failed on the MOD. There is obviously a reason for it. You think its cause people like the crutch of seeing around corners and I think its cause the controls suck. Either way why should the minority dictate to the majority? You guys already have your servers, you should be happy with that. If no one populates them then, so sad too bad. -

Im not saying there arent exploits to 3rd person (which is why I would support the invisible wall concept). Im just saying the mechanics of DayZ's 1st person suck to the point that ill take the exploits of 3rd person over it. As I said there are other games in the same boat as DayZ that do a far better job at it.... World War II Online for example. I am all for having 1st person only servers... go there and be happy. But when the conversation turns to forcing EVERYONE to play that way then I have to say before we can even begin to have that conversation the clunky ass controls and sound have to be fixed first. -

There is a reason those games have the mechanics they do.. and its to make up for what is basically a less than 70 degree view of the world. Their sound also works by the way. The "twitch" as you call is to make up for the lack of situational awareness and to increase reaction time. I would say that in a larger style map like DayZ, combat is generally slowed down compared to those "twitch" games mentioned because its happening at a greater distance. The problem for DayZ's 1st person combat is when it gets up close. here is where it fails IMO for the reasons I already gave. The fairer comparison would be to take a look at a game with an even LARGER continouse map than DayZ, World War II Online. Its 1st person play is vastly better because the controls are faster, less clunky, and the sound is way better. As far as what is best for game play and the game goes... we will jsut have to agree to disagree. I think this experement has been tired on the mod and failed and tired again on SA and seems to be failing. There is a reason people like 3rd person view in DayZ.. its because it works better, period. I would be ok with the concept of the invisible wall shown in that youtube video by the way but within the current mechanics of the game I cannot support 1st person only. -

1st person view in this game is totally gimped IMO because the sounds are glitchy and the character controls are too clunky and slow. The glitched sounds further reduces your 1st person situational awareness couppled with the slow character controls and reaction time is cut to a point that you almost cant defend yourself. If people want to call that "hardcore mode" I guess they can but shitty game mechanics doesnt equate to hardcore IMO. -

I guess it depends... if each patch gets the standlone closer to the MOD then it will be you crying and me smiling. And remember this..... the only reason the standalone game exists is because of the popularity of the MOD. So I think I am pretty safe in assuming the goal is to get this game to a state that resembles the MOD not to create a totally new game. :P

No... actually what I want is an open world sandbox with no cookie cutter classes of characters, no exp lvl grinding, no faction warfare or areans, but totally open PvP, PKing, and full looting. The fact that there are zombies in this game means nothing to me. Im not a 15 year old boy obsessed with the current love for all things zombie. The back story could be anything really. If you like Co-Op killing dumb AI zombies thats cool. I dont think thats much fun at all... I like killing players.

^^^^ This. I dont understand all these people that want to play a game radically different than the MOD.... the popularity of the mod is the only reason standlone exists in the first place. And the mod had cars, choppers, military grade weapons, open PvP, full looting.... -
To be honest I could care less if we ever get more zombies. Would probably prefer not getting more lol

More zombies isnt even close to being the most important thing needed in this game.... its not even in the Top 30 imo.

Choppers are great.... I expect them to be added to standlone. I dont know what these cry babies are going on about. I want the map to seem smaller. I dont want to play a running simulator. Some people dont have time to play MMO's as a full time job. I want to be able to log on and within 15-20 mins get all my friends together and roll out. Some people dont realize that there is a difference between a game that is "hardcore" and a game with a bunch of unnecessary time sink grinds. I didnt know the difference either untill I graduated college and had to get a real job. Cars/Choppers ++++++ -

This is already in the game. Try shooting someone center mass with a Mosin then look in their backpack
