I really dont understand the obsession with the shotguns...... seems to me they are going to be somewhat worthless unless you are camping stairs or clearing a building. I dont know about you but most of my engagements in DayZ happen at a range that just take the shotgun completely out of the equation and since you cant effectively carry 2 guns (unless they change that with a shotgun) it seems like a total waste of time.

You know you can clearly hear the sounds of mass reloading when someone logs in within a very wide area..... so next time you are in a building and hear that sound, stop looting and look around then blow them away while they are in load in lag. -

Look, well all get that its ALPHA. I think the problem is once the excitement of the DayZ Standalone Alpha release wore off there is the growing perception that we have paid $30 for a VERY stripped down version of the MOD with a lot of the same exploits and bugs. Yes they warned us all.... but the fact is that back-end improvements just aren't sexy and the average user looks at this game in its front-end state and thinks WTF were they doing for the last year. I wonder how many users have gone back to playing the MOD? -

KoS - Yes- 90% of the time I am playing with my friends in a 3-6 man squad. In that situation its KoS. Period. We are basically a death squad hunting people... naked spawns, fully decked out milspec guys, dudes with no pants and a motorcycle helmet... it doesnt matter. We arent doing it to take loot, we are fully geared. We will usually hide the body to get rid of the loot or sometimes if its in a busy town we will leave the body for bait and camp it. Bandits - Yes- They are an important part of the game. They bring excitement to it and are role playing bad guys. Though I wouldnt consider myself a bandit... more of a PK. -
Trapped under stairs, cant get out, cant respawn

I am in one of those 3 story apartments and I fell through the stairs.... I cant get out, cant die and respawn -
So I died today and got sent back east.... now regardless of what server I log into when I start running back west to Electro I get just outside of Electro (can just start to see the cranes) and the game kind of locks up and I have to alt tab to close it out then when I log back in I am teleported all the way back to the spawn in town

As much as I would love craft-able player house/base like the MOD has I think that is pretty far down the priority list.... I mean the game is basically an empty shell at the moment. There is virtually nothing to do but PvP (which is still fun) but there are about 1000 other things they need to add to this game before they start messing with base building. Its funny to because one of the top reasons stated for creating the stand alone was to limit hacking/exploits. Well that doesn't seem to have worked out. As far as I know most of the exploits in the MOD work in standalone..... so essentially all that has happened so far is we have paid $30 for a totally stripped down version of the MOD with a a better inventory lol -
Is the amount of PvP due to the difficulty of PvE

The concept of PvE never even occurred to me in the years I spent playing the MOD or now standalone. I dont even know what you mean by PvE in terms of DayZ... do you mean zombie hunting? Player vs Monster game play stuff? or just general Player vs Environment stuff like crafting, merchant, housing... meat and potato MMO content stuff? I would say there has never really been any Player vs Monster type of game play in DayZ and I dont really expect much in the future nor is there any real usable content in the current state of standalone so that basically leaves PvP as the only thing to do. If you are looking for a PvE co-op zombie killing game I am not sure DayZ is going to be the one for you. -

I have a 50 meg internet connection and an ASUS RT-66AC router. Does that suit your specifications ? lol The map is actually only 92sq miles (240 sq km) 1/3 the size of the city limits of San Francisco which is a relatively small (area wise) city. I have played other games with MUCH larger maps like World War II Online. The map size isnt the reason Standalone feels like a running simulator. The MOD certainly doesn't feel like a running simulator :P -

Sorry but I just don't know what else to call this game in its current state, particularly with the new spawn points. MaraZhon 2014 ? RunZ ? When I die I point my char south west and auto run for 20 mins while I watch tv... rinse and repeat. Sometimes I come back and I am in the ocean, then it becomes swimming simulator. -

Do you really need more empty space with nothing to do and no one to see? I would prefer the devs spent their time and resources putting some badly needed content from the Mod into this game before wasting a single second with the map more guns > bigger map cars > bigger map crafting > bigger map player structures > bigger map The list goes on and on and on and on -

Consequences from who what what exactly? This is a post apocalyptic world. There are no consequences from society, they dont have to answer to anyone, nor would there be any mental/moral consequences. I dont want to hear about any PTSD/sanity crap. These are survivors remember??? They lived through the outbreak, they would have already seen mass death, they would be mentally numb to death, killing a stranger would be like squashing a spider. -

It depends on how many people I see lol but overall I probably have a 4:1 Kill to death ratio. I rarely play alone though so that probably helps -
I can almost guarantee in a real life post apocalyptic world you would in fact see at least 1 "clan" emblem that was a giant pink dick..... so I dont see how that would break immersion in anyway

Why the hell are you going way up north if you want to interact with people? At the moment there is absolutely no reason to run your ass all the way up there unless you want to be alone. Its not like there is better milspec gear up there making it worth the time and effort to play running simulator to get there. Everything you could ever want (at the moment) is in-between Bolota-Cherno-Electro. Until they put more content into the game there really isnt any point in moving away from that area and if you want to interact with people thats where they are. My group of 3 was in 5 separate gun fights in the streets of Electro today against 4 different groups There is crazy action in Electro now that the spawn point has moved east... the bandits come for the new spawn kills and the bandit hunters come for them. Its like the wild west. I went through 5 x 60 round mags today in Electro -

You just hit on another HUGE point beyond the pure mechanics of the shitty first person view in this game. Watching your character doing stuff. This is after all a kind of hybrid MMO not a full blown shooter is it not? There is a reason MMO's are 3rd person... so that you can view your character interacting with the world -

You seem to be in the minority with this opinion as well. You really need to check out World War II Online for an example of what a good 1st person experience in a very large continuouse map is like. One that works well with the slowed pace of long distance combat as well as the speed of close quarters. There is no bunny hoping (you cant even jump), no ice skatting 360's, no run and gun ttwitching (you dont even get an aim site firing from the hip)... its just smoother and feels better. Thats the only way to explane it The thing about that game is that they built their own engine in house specifically for it and have control over it. I dont know how much Rocket and his team can actually do to make 1st person "feel" better for the majority of players although fixing the broken sounds would help a lot.
