  1. I work in an agile development environment so dont talk to me about how development works. While I understand that different members of the team work on different items simultaneously the point is there are only so many dev points/hours per sprint and the way this team has been allocating resources just blows my mind. By the way, in most "alpha" settings you have multiple pushes per week, not per month. Now I agree that we were all warned about "alpha" but I dont think anyone (even the biggest butt sucking fanboys) realized just how empty of a shell the game was going to be nor how slow dev was going to be. Yes we are testers.. but guess what? Testers need shit to test. Most studios have to spend a lot of money to outsource a QA company to alpha test for them so this team has got it pretty good imo. There are few games with the kind of hype that allows the developers to take advantage of their customers by making them pay to test for them... so you would think they would use the resource. Thats all I am saying
  2. The truth hurts I guess. 2+ years of work and what? A new inventory system, new skins, and item decay? OHHH and maybe sometime this month we will get a working fireplace... come on. They might as well take the zombies out of the game altogether and replace them with invisible dust clouds which serve absolutely no purpose other than to be annoying by randomly doing damage to players. That way at least people will stop bitching about the broken AI
  3. This is the single best post in this thread.

no news on the next update?

Yes... and all it will be is bow & arrows, fireplaces and network optimization... so we have all of that to look forward to. HUGE stuff.

no news on the next update?

As cool as that would be, considering the dev track record so far, the update will probably be something much more useful and content fulfilling like: Spray painting can openers, knives, and shovels Using shoelaces to craft a necklace The ability to walk or run while displaying a emo like thumbs up or high 5 The new weapon will be a Red Rider BB gun. You got to get fundamental core game content like this working before you tackle such trivial things as vehicles, hunting, camping, and base building
  6. I was thinking more like how the beam of the flashlight shines right though the walls of buildings and screams COME KILL ME
  7. 6 months? More like 36 months. They have been working on this for over 2 years and the only thing they have to show for it (IMO) that is even a slight improvement over the mod is a better inventory system and open buildings. At what point will the fanboys stop using alpha as an excuse for this game sucking.... you cant even call this a game... there is shit to do in a game. This is just a map and placeholders.
  8. Yep, you are clearly content playing a running simulator with no content... it dont get more simple than that
  9. uh. Do you realize he left the mod for like 2 years to create this empty shell of a game and in that time the mod did nothing but explode in popularity
  10. LOL The only reason SA even exists is because of the popularity of the MOD. What you call destroying the foundation of DayZ is the exact thing that made this possible. I think the majority of the 1.7 million people who bought this game wanted the MOD without hacks... its just that simple. People want cars and helis and guns and loot and bases and gold.... its why so many people play
  11. I think modding will finally bring some real content to SA. Judging by the speed of development I don't believe that the current dev team is capable of finishing this game in any reasonable amount of time. I think the decision to allow modding pretty much confirms that they know they cant do it

Can anyone justify the low price of this game anymore ?

Increase the price of this game? There is nothing in this game. Its still basically a running simulator with some guns, clothes, and broken stupid AI. There is so little content in the game it barely justifies $20 let alone an increase in price. Remember we are paying to alpha test this game. Most of the software companies out there have to PAY a QA team to test for them. SA can get away with taking advantage of their customers like this because of the massive love of the mod and hype but there is a limit, even for DayZ. The fact is the MOD is currently a much better overall game than SA as It actually has content and there is no way that anyone can justify SA in its current state out pricing the cost of buying Arma II and getting the MOD

    Would you shoot me...

I shoot everyone who is geared up and not in my squad.... so the answer is yes.
  14. Server hoping wont stop until loot respawns without server restarts... its just that simple. Duping has been around forever and I dont see them doing anything to stop it. I dont really care how people get geared up..... I usually KoS geared people and its all the same when you are looting their dead bodies.
  15. LOLx10000 you are project a whole lot of what is just your hopeful opinion on what are just a few sentences he made.... I simply took his general statement on the core of DayZ at face vaule.
  16. Quote from Dean Hall when talking about PvE and PvP at Eurogamer Expo – The real core experience of DayZ is the tension and that is provided by other players

Anyone worried there will be too many ammo types ?

We need more guns for the calibers of ammo we already have. They should be adding the AK and its variants since it shares the same 7.62x39 round as the SKS which is already in game They should be adding the Dragunov or SV-98 since they share the 7.62x54R Mosin ammo already in game. For that matter they should even add the Winchester level action 1895 since it shoots the 7.62x54 and was contract built for the Russians. The RP-45 and PK light machine guns also use the 7.62x54R What about the Sig Sauer 226 9mm? A very famous European made 9mm. Or the PP-2000 Russian made automatic 9mm, or even the 9mm AK variant the Vityaz-SN. Hell even the new Russian AK-12 is coming in a NATO 5.56 version Anyway... you get my point
  18. I play this game because its an open PvP, full looting, (soon to be) sandbox with perma death. I really couldnt care less about the zombies. The AI threat could be anything... radioactive rats, robots, mean ally cats, its all just an annoyance to me anyway. To be honest I would just prefer they removed zombies all together... they do nothing for me or the style of game play I am after... I would rather the devs spend time and resources adding end game content, crafting, and vehicles rather than messing around with what seems like will always be a semi-broken, glitchy AI threat

    Ammunition should be extremely rare

No it shouldnt.... this is a game after all. Ammo = fun/exciting game experience.
  20. captainvette2112

What do you think of weapon rarity

Personally I think its a mistake to lower spawn rates. 1 fully geared guy can dupe himself all the gear a 5 man naked deathsquad could every want in 30 seconds. Exploiters are always going to have gear... the only question is how hard you want to make it on everyone else to get weapons.

So why do people refuse being held up?

More like... its better to die and respawn a fresh body than live through the robbery only to spend the next hour looking for antibiotics, vitamins, and charcoal pills because you are sick from being force fed rotten fruit and disinfectant, winding up in the same place you would have been an hour earlier.... dead.

Combat Logging - Massive Game Killer for DayZ

EvE is a little bit of a different animal. When you combat log in EvE your ship warps to a random deep space spot in the solar system... its not like you are just sitting there out in the open. In order for other players to get you they NEED that 15 min time period to deploy probes and track you down (depending on your skills). 15 mins is too long for this game IMO. I also think that there should just be a general log out timer that is not dependent on combat. Again its not like EVE where there is a targeting system. I think it would be tough to create a game mechanic that could tell someone was shooting at you but missing and thus activate your timer as the victim along with theirs as the aggressor. Which is why I prefer the camp site instant log out system.... 3 mins otherwise regardless combat. Lots of other games had this type of system and it works.
  23. captainvette2112

So why do people refuse being held up?

Who are you going to rob in-between Berezino and Electro who actually has anything worth robbing? Its just fresh pawns or lightly geared guys running that corridor. Why would anyone on the coast let themselves get handcuffed and be forced rotten fruit and disinfectant only to have to deal with being sick for the next hour... better off just dying and respawning a fresh body.
  24. captainvette2112

So why do people refuse being held up?

Why would anyone allow themselves to be held up in the current state of the game? About the ONLY time I could see surrendering to a hold up at the moment is if I was up on the north west side of the map maybe near Zel. and didn't want the hassle of running back from the new spawn points.

    3PP:ON?

Im my opinion they should remove the 1pp only server option from the whole game and force all the 1st person cry babies to play with us 3pp "exploiters" just so I can masturbate with their tears as lube. Forcing things on other people is only cool when its the way you want it... funny how that works
