What I predict DayZ will achieve by the end of the year.
captainvette2112 replied to TheWizard14's topic in General Discussion
That could be a bad thing depending on how they handle monetization. I would prefer to pay a monthly subscription than have pay-to-win in a game. But yes I agree, H1Z1 has the backing to wtf pwn-sauce DayZ SA. On the other hand Sony has been known to shit all over what should have been pure gold... see Star Wars Galaxies. -

This is SO true. You basically described me. I started playing the MOD 2 years ago, moved on to EPOCH and was really excited for SA. Let me just say that I work in the software industry, particularly in an agile dev environment, so believe me when I tell you I understand "alpha" but I am so disappointed with SA on so many levels. I absolutely HATE the direction Rocket seems to be going with it and after almost 2 years of development the state the game was in when they released the alpha was mind blowing to me. Even more shocking than that is the speed (or lack there of) that they have been progressing so far. Everyone keeps screaming "alpha" but the truth is this isnt an alpha. What happened here was a kind of venture capital start-up financed by a paid so-called alpha release... this isn't an alpha this is pre-alpha development. -

I suspect that by December DayZ SA will be dying as development will continue at a crawl and new titles like H1Z1 and 2017 come out. The MOD is far superior in just about every way except for the inventory and there simply wont be patience for the 20 year development pace this team is currently running at...... the novelty of SA will have worn off and people will go back to the MOD or moved on to other games. -

How to convince a friend to get dayz
captainvette2112 replied to Jmtuska's topic in General Discussion
The only way to get people to buy SA in its current state is to lie to them. Show him a Mod like Epoch to get him all excited so he will buy the game thinking that there will be a bunch of cool content in it. Once he logs in you will have about 2-3 hours to play with him before he gets all pissed off that there is nothing to do. -
I have absolutely no interest in the crossbow. In fact I have a hard time believing the devs would waste time adding it. Can we get some useful weapons please... no more .22's and crossbows. By the way, the average big game shot with a crossbow is around 25-30 yards so 100+ yard shots is a joke as is talking about the number of bolts in a quiver since a crossbows rate of fire is about 1 shot per minute
-
LOL. Thats why Epoch has more players than vanilla ever had right?
-
Funny how everything you dont like will "ruin" the game. The truth is the only thing that will ruin this game is bugs/hacks and lack of content.

I actually dont have a problem with loot and guns being plentiful. I dont care what anyone says, this is a PvP game and you need to give new spawns the ability to defend themselves. You also shouldnt have items be so rare that they induce what I call the sandy vagina syndrome (being so scared of dying with your shiny loot that you dont really play the game)

Russians SMGs... Vityaz-SN (9mm AK variant) or the PP-2000 (9mm) Those would make more sense than the MP5

I am wearing a black cowboy hat right now... come to Zeleno. Maybe we can make a trade :)

NATO and Soviet Army assault rifles
captainvette2112 replied to Pokerguy12's topic in General Discussion
The new Russian made AK-12 (replacement for the AK-47) is comes in NATO 5.56 and 7.62 versions -
SA doesnt really even have a beginning game, let alone an end game. There is basically nothing in the game at the moment. No crafting, no base building, no high end loot, no vehicles, no group objectives, no player economy. End game happens the min you spawn in.

Let me know if you find such a server because I would like to get on it and role play the part of the bad guy. KoSing, banditing, griefing... you know all the bad guy stuff.

DayZ should always be about survival...
captainvette2112 replied to Mukaparska's topic in General Discussion
^^^^^ This. You would have to totally up the loot spawn but I would prefer that anyway. -

captainvette2112 replied to Mukaparska's topic in General Discussion
I would like more depth than that... although I fully support killing and looting people :D -

I want base building, fortifying, crafting, vehicles, more guns and gear, some sort of player economy... all the stuff the OP apparently dosent want. Basically I want all the stuff that would actually make DayZ a functional game.... you know.... A GAME. Not the running simulator it currently is. Crazy I know. -
Zombies in the next stable build....
captainvette2112 replied to timedance's topic in General Discussion
The only time they are even remotely dangerous is when they come at you through walls when you are inside buildings. Not only is the AI broken in this game, the melee combat (particularly indoors) absolutely sucks as well. You end up taking some damage as your axe randomly hits invisible walls and ceilings in an attempt to line up the perfect angle to swig at the zombie glitched in the wall or floor. -
Bandits/KoSers/PKers/Griefers, whatever you want to call them, provide the only real sense of danger in the game. You may hate them but they serve a purpose, someone has to role play the bad guy in an open world game

If they are going to making everyone roll around with a fire axe locked and loaded 100% of the time
captainvette2112 posted a topic in General Discussion
If they are going to making everyone roll around with a fireaxe locked and loaded 100% of the time because their "new and improved" dumb ass broken AI zombies agro you from 2000 yards away and can walk through walls to get you..... the least they could do is put some damn LOOT on them. Its not like they are really any more dangerous or exciting. You can kill 5 at a time walking backwards with a fire axe, you can still outrun them if you shoulder your weapon and run with your fists up, you just cant really easily avoid them anymore. So the devs made zeds slightly more annoying. You know what they call annoyances in MMOs? Time sinks. But time sinks usually have some reward. So how about it? Come on devs.. we know you are incapable of fixing your broken AI and your goal seems to be to make them more annoying so why not throws us the slightest bone and make them lootable. I mean I know you guys are working on some really important end game content like spray painting guns and new skins for the soda cans but maybe you can find some time for this -
Who cares about pretty graphics when there isnt anything to do in the game. Ultima Online circa 1997-2001 had some of the best content of any game ever made and it was a 2d. To this day it is my all time fav online game experience Eve Online is basically a floating ship in space and most of the time you are using a tactical overlay with red boxes for enemies yet the experience is so in-depth that economists have done studies on it because the player economy is so awesome There is more to games than amazing graphics and animation Unfortunately DayZ SA has neither amazing graphics nor any content to speak of, so there's that

just off the top of my head..... #1 crafting + player economy #2 useful acquired skills over time

I work in an agile development environment so dont talk to me about how development works. While I understand that different members of the team work on different items simultaneously the point is there are only so many dev points/hours per sprint and the way this team has been allocating resources just blows my mind. By the way, in most "alpha" settings you have multiple pushes per week, not per month. Now I agree that we were all warned about "alpha" but I dont think anyone (even the biggest butt sucking fanboys) realized just how empty of a shell the game was going to be nor how slow dev was going to be. Yes we are testers.. but guess what? Testers need shit to test. Most studios have to spend a lot of money to outsource a QA company to alpha test for them so this team has got it pretty good imo. There are few games with the kind of hype that allows the developers to take advantage of their customers by making them pay to test for them... so you would think they would use the resource. Thats all I am saying
