    Server Hop Suggestion?

Make characters remain in-world for 40 seconds after they log out. Shouldn't be too hard to implement in standalone's hive-based system.

    Help building a rig!

It may be tempting to skimp on the power supply but don't do it. How to buy a power supply

Will this work as a general gaming pc?

Cheaper power supplies usually can't use their entire stated capacity because they don't have enough rails to carry all the power. Amperage * voltage will tell you how much "power" it actually has at each voltage level; cheaper supplies almost always have low amperage so they can't use all their power. As a consequence, they handle fluctuations in power worse when they move up to a higher voltage level, which it will do during normal use. This means that you could be playing and your graphics card could need more power, and poof! There goes your system! Moreover, a cheap one that has enough output when you buy it will lose its ability to output power faster than a good one. So even if it runs fine on different voltage levels at first, it might die right when the warranty expires. It's a lot like how many Android phones tout their quad-core processors but still run apps much slower than dual-core iPhones. On paper, the Android should be faster but it has overhead from the virtual machine, poor code quality, cheap memory, frivolous crapware running in the background, etc. that lower the cost but also bog down the system.

It works fine on mid settings on my 3 year old system. Not at home right now so I can't give the exact specs, but: Windows 7 Intel Core i3 NVidia GTX 460, 1 GB dedicated memory 4 GB RAM, don't remember speed 1 TB 7400 RPM HDD I stuttered a lot when I first installed but changing to lower settings and doing Performance Increase/Modify Config #1 helped: http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/DayZ#Modify_config_.232 If you haven't built it yet, use the money you'd spend on the DVD drive on 8 GB RAM (make sure to get 64-bit Windows) or an SSD. 128 GB should be fine unless you have a huge video library.

Do our characters not have immune systems?

    Keep your clothes dry.
  6. Basically, making the Reload key also the Use key makes users cycle through their clips when they're trying to open doors. Having a dedicated Reload key would fix this. Moreover, a dedicated Reload key is consistent with weapons controls in other games. I'm not proposing letting a button add bullets to a clip; I like the realism of having to do that in my inventory. /eom
  7. I don't need gear spawning. I need either teleporting or the ability to spawn wherever I specify. I tried server hopping to verify it but it seems to be happening in a very small area, which is why I need to see the coordinates. Also it takes MUCH longer than 10 minutes to walk to airfields from most spawn areas, even on an empty server.
  8. Hi, I really DayZ and I'd like to make my own server so that I can write a good bug report for a bug that's really annoying me. I'd like to be able to reproduce it before I report it. Essentially, I've found that I die when I log out in a corner. My guess is that I respawn outside of the walls since it only happens when I log out in a tower, like a fire station. At first, I thought I was getting unlucky and people were logging in as I logged out, but it's happened three times now so this is unlikely. Does anyone have answers to these questions? 1) How can I display debug info, like this? http://www.dayzbuzz.com/dayz-how-to-turn-on-debug-monitor/ 2) How can I spawn/teleport my character anywhere I want? 3) Where are the log files that show how I died? I know that the server software is not yet available for public use (makes sense since it's in alpha), but is there any way I can help you guys out? Perhaps you guys have a server I can use temporarily to verify that the bug exists? Thank you in advance. :)
