OP is right. Human hands are fragile. This is a good idea. I wouldn't say blood loss, but definitely pain, shock, fracture, loss of accuracy, diminished melee damage, and possibly the inability to properly hold things or use items could all be side effects of punching people and things all willy-nilly. Man, I wish there was a grappling system in this game. Imagine running up to somebody and putting them in a choke-hold while your buddy stabbed them or something. Ooh.

Oh look, another rage thread.

The Public Hive- Am I the only person who likes it?
Ubernaut replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in General Discussion
OP, I agree with a lot of the points you made. Private hives do have their advantages. I think the single biggest disadvantage of Public hives would have to be what I think is called "ghosting", where players are able to travel to any point, switch servers, and automatically be at the same point they left on the other server. When tents, vehicles and barricading are implemented, this is going to be a huge drawback unless the devs disallow ghosting, and make you spawn on the coast if you switch servers. So I guess even some of the disadvantages of the Public Hive system are subject to change. Hard to say at this point. -
Agreed. OP should make his(?) own survival game. That's a game I wanna play four times. Check that. I would play that game -five- times.
-
You think it's hard in the game? You should try it in real life.
-
I pledge to obey Wheaton's Law. Doesn't mean I won't kill you, but I won't force you to crawl without a splint or abuse you verbally. Anyone else wanna take the pledge?
-
Yep, good old Ensign Crusher. Unlike a lot of actors who started their careers at a young age, Will Wheaton decided to be an awesome person.
-
OP, have you considered that different people on the dev team are responsible for different aspects of the game? They've probably got one guy coding new items and one guy doing the artwork for them. Those guys can probably churn through many, many items in the time it takes the rest of the team to make complicated modifications to the game engine.

Not pausing for long enough to scout the northern Elektrozavodsk firestation would be my latest mistake. My FAVORITE mistake, though? You. You're my faaavorite mistaaaake...

This thread made my nethers go all tingly.

"Irrelevant." No, Nex, it is definitely *not* irrelevant. Acebane explained it. Still, it's very hard to read your feedback as anything other than "I think my playstyle is superior to yours." You didn't say it, but it's strongly implied. There's nothing stopping you from coming up with your own tutorial for 1PP mode.
-
Nex, you gotta understand that 3PP is how *most* DayZ players operate. If you're gonna make a survival guide for DayZ, you direct it at the players who need it most: The average joes. There's plenty in here that applies to Hardcore. In fact, he mentions it if you actually took time to watch the video. Now, did you have any other objections, or are you ready to admit you only posted to express your objection 3rd person view in general? Because that's not OP's fault.

Watching now. I love where this is going, and it looks really well-made and competent. Timestamps are appreciated. Thanks on behalf of the community for a legit contribution.

(Text is red to show that the OP is angry.)

A little tactical observation here... You're REALLY exposed standing there looting the guy like that. Make sure to take the time to check around to see if any of his buddies are coming, then I advise going prone during the looting process to reduce your profile. You'll be harder to snipe, and a passerby might mistake you for a corpse, giving you crucial seconds to take initiative. Double click the items to loot them fast, instead of dragging them over.
-
Oh well. Have you considered that it's good for people to bend and break the rules in an alpha? The entire job of a game tester is to find ways to "break" the game. Many, many loopholes will be closed before DayZ releases in earnest. "The Wild West doesn't last forever."

Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Wow, I love the idea of a mobile, vehicle-based radio station. Can you even imagine? Let's say your signal radius would increase with elevation (i.e. driving up a hill)... Such possibilities! Very apocalypse! Wow.
-
Just make sure you wrap it around a few times. That torch won't budge. There's no reason not to add this as a feature.
-
I would support a tightening of the camera perspective. If you want true 1PP, just play on a server that's set up that way. Problem solved.

DayZ: Ted Bear Edition

Nice ideas. (But let me point out that the plural of "tree" is "trees", not "tree's". Lose the apostrophe.)
-
This is easy. Just don't play on servers that feature extra bullcrap like that.

Beans to you for the good story, OP.
