As of right now, gear is way more important than the player's life. If you hold me up and take my gear, you may as well just kill me. So until lives are made more important, being held up is worse

Had a similar experience like this yesterday. M4 Rambo hot on my heels and my character decides to take a leisurely stroll up the hill and proceeded to get peppered with bullets

I used to get so mad over that, but i've come to accept it as a fact of DayZ life

I got catapulted off of the shipwreck twice. I ended up dead in the water about 30 yards away from the boat. I had enough time to think, "well, this is gonna suck" as i was flying through the air.

We all have our dirty little secrets in DayZ :P

Obviously my preferred set up is a mosin with LR and bipod. I prefer sniping from an elevated position, such as buildings and mountains, although this can make range finding more difficult. I also make sure i have an in-game map with me, which i use to calculate the distance between my location and my soon-to-be target's (measuring the map's scale and setting up a ratio with my own). Sometime's i have to use a little trigonometry or pythagorean theorem to get the distance if i'm at a high elevation. Zeroing is pretty easy once you have the distance, or you could just take a few shots and feel it out. Some people probably have different practices, but that's what i do, and i feel pretty comfortable taking shots anywhere from 600-800.

That's an unfortunate aspect of the alpha right now. The devs have said that they plan on removing the ability to server hop/combat log, so hopefully that comes sooner than later

In all likelihood, it probably won't be anything huge. A few bug fixes here, a few patches there. That kind of stuff. But as long as we're sitting on Santa's lap, i want an SKS and a functioning silencer. And a pony.

Saline bag IV's can be found ready to use, and they cannot be poisoned......yet

There's nothing anyone can do to fix this. You can mark "bandits" with a certain clothing item (like bandannas in the mod), but people are still going to kill! You can make zombies more of a threat and hope people will band together, but people are still going to kill! Hell, you can even remove guns altogether, and i guarantee that we would see a rise in Axe Murderers running rampant in Chernarus! People are always going to kill people in DayZ, it's a simple but unfortunate fact of life.

This is like the 8,000th topic started about finding Mosins, but they are a pretty common spawn in residential areas, cars, and the shipwreck in Rify

Where you one of those people that asked your math teacher, "when will i use this in real life?" If so, this is your opportunity! I've used Pythagorean theorem and a little trigonometry to calculate distance tons of times when i'm sniping. It just makes it that much more satisfying when you land a perfectly zeroed headshot.

Flashlights and weapon flashlights will work sufficiently as soon as they dont shine through walls and scream, "LOOK EVERYBODY, HERE I AM" as soon as you turn one on

Exactly, that's why I said targets. Personally, I find going to an empty airfield and sniping zombies from across the runway entertaining, just to test myself and my accuracy

This is all assuming that the crafting system gets that advanced. As it stands, I would be immensely satisfied if I could tape to magazines together with duct tape (I know this is on the way)!

I'm usually pretty "merciful" when it comes to new spawns and players that are obviously just getting their feet under them, but if a fully military geared person approaches and doesn't immediately give some kind of sign of friendly, I don't think twice
