to carry a second weapon is a pretty nice idea, but i dont want the same like in dayz mod, put in your backpack and fine... to easy! Better you need to find some materials and craft a weaponcarrier or weaponbelt for a second weapon, that would be interesting!

On Balota Airfield its quite normal to get killed by someone. Death is waiting arround every corner in DayZ.

Yes, its normal.... the most players shoot before asking some questions.... sad, but true. to restart, get killed and you starting from zero. You have to collect all pieces of the map to use it.
