When in doubt, disable shadows, lower how far things render, drop clouds to low, disable occultation, should fix most of your problems

[OUTDATED] DayZ: The Ultimate Loot Route
Ineedscoffee replied to frostknivez's topic in General Discussion
I always just stock up in a few towns hit the northwest airfield, and then bashyna just above it. Places are loaded it seems. -
I keep myself in a brown hoodie, brown beenie, brown cargo pants, and low hiking boots. Orange pack 25slot pack, firefighter axe for zombie relations, and .45 in my pack and hot barred just in case. Be surprised how many assault wielding nuts I've put down with this. The apocalypse clearly wasent for everyone lol. I mostly stick far to the north, town to town, sometimes swing by bashyna for ammo, and the well. I've come across a few fellow survivors here and there, providing them with can openers, tuna, water bottles. Then slipping back into the black, maybe tell them I ain't coming back. Only had to kill as self defense. You run into some poor sod, and he takes his rifle from parade rest to combat ready, you either put a bullet in him, and give his beans to some lost naked soul, or regret it as he digs through your pack. Mostly, they Liston, lower it, and be civil. Being a "hero", doesent mean we don't enter buildings or towns without a way to protect ourselves, remember that.

We've got the mosins, the ammo, the rations, and most importantly, we've got large empty plains with tree lines. Why don't I see more fields packed with players 100s of yards across, taking kneeled shots at the opposing team, ducking behind wood just in time. Maybe take a few splinters to the face resulting in health damage in the process. Could be one helluva fun game play type. Winning side gets the spoils, leftover ammo, etc. to hold them over till they are eventually overrun. I'd play the crap out of this lol.

Got the idea from watching dances with wolves this morning. Always loved that cross field style of combat. Would love to be able to queue up and be tossed on a side. Have one guy who's job is to shoot those fleeing from battle on each side. Maybe two guys making food/water and ammo runs to a town. Have some real actual war between survivors, instead of random thirty second skirmishes.

My dates might be wrong, but you know what I mean :p

I prefer the mosin. I keep the fnx and two clips on hand and at the steady position when in buildings.

I did the same thing, looking for what I thought was a military base hidden in the trees (turned out to be bashyna). Except I stocked up on canteens and rice. Your best bet, is to look up at the clouds. The wind always blows east. Run south east till you hit a town, or the coast.

The other day I headed out as far north as I possibly could, I went so far north I actually hit the edge of the map. After that I decided to turn west and went pretty far northwest as well. now I hit a military base surrounded by trees everywhere on a hill. There was a well right in the courtyard, the barracks on the left and actual compound there with the barracks and jail inside. I'm just wondering if anybody happens though the name of the place, or the name of a town close to there. It was not an easy trek, as stocking up on water and food is imperative to get there. A fresh spawn will die before he gets that far due to climbing. Lol,mothered goes my secret little base :p

Hidden northwest military base?

Was a huge fallen earth fan. This game for me is beyond amazing. Survival, you against yourself really does it for me. Sure the ios part can get old, but eh, it passes lol -
Honestly being able to light a smoke after fending off zombies, bandits, while traveling, etc, would be amazing. Al zombie runs off pure instinct. Smelling smoke would deter it from crossing your path, as it's instincts would think "fire". Of course a side effect would be diminished running capabilities lol. Could also add chew for those wanting a dip before a four mile plus hike.

I wish I had taken some, sadly, I didn't think of it at the time. I've just finished stocking up to head far back out again to try and find it. -
These folks deserve a few Christmas days off just like the rest of us working stiffs.

Not sure how killing fngs is considered survival. I find my game deep in the northern woods.
-
I've actually been having a blast on all spawns. I immediately find fresh water, sprinting my way around till I do, I hit some food, then book it deep north. The woods and villages provide everything I could possibly need. Zombies? No problem, well aimed punches or blows to the head, they go down, you wail on em. High end military grade gear isn't needed much out north. I have yet to see another person, as most campers, snipers, etc, are content gearing from military sites, and returning south. You make the right moves, the game turns into an actual survival game. Scrounging for food, dry clothing in good condition, water containers, maybe a can opener. Picking a town clean, feeling aggravated, worried, that you won't have the supplies to the next town, which could be miles. Or say you arrive at a town, and notice a barracks. Do you enter, knowing someone else there could take what is yours, do you take what is his? Choices choices :p

Ate antibiotics - have orange sick indicator.
Ineedscoffee replied to Safire (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I've gotten sick once, I immediately chugged all my water, hoofed it to a well, and chugged till I was full. I also scarfed every bit of pristine tuna I had been saving. Got the message that my stomachs felt over fed. I then huddled in a building in a corner to avoid any possible unseen attack, and mashed the f3 button soon as possible to sit. I also monitored my stomach, drinking every minute to stay full. Took a couple mins, but the sick symbol went away, and I was back off on my way north. Zero idea if this is a confirmed solution lol. I'd say scarf some vitamins if you have them to. Rub a rabbits foot, finding religion may help also.
