Also, I learned long ago here, to not bother typing. Fresh spawn said he couldn't hear me, proceeded to one hit ko me while I typed a response. Took my rifle and shot me with it lol. -

Guba's actually a nice destination place for loot, etc. I was taking a break on one of these so called pve civil servers, when I helped some kid who was swarmed by about five zombies. My thanks for a job well done was a mosin round to my side. The zombies then swarmed him, and finished him down. Not even a word from him. All I said was well, way to go bub. Spawned southeast, and was already at the shipwreck looking for a puffy coat anyways. Figured since I haven't been to Guba, I'd check it out. Today I'm running the tracks from there to the train station just north of Lopatino. -

I should of taken the shot lol. Thing is, 90% of the people who stumble upon Guba are simply lost. Only a small handful of us go there on purpose lol. -
Can you poison Saline IV bags?
Ineedscoffee replied to CyberVillain (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
well, we do have syringe's in the game. it's certainly within the realm of possibilities. maybe down the line, we could mix herbs in radioactive waste, then fill a vial to inject the saline bags found in med kits. upon inspection, it would reveal something slightly off about the bag, but how many of us actually inspect our items :P -
My new home is Guba. Amazing scenery, put together perfectly. You get a real harbor town feel here, the shops with living quarters upstairs are absolutely spot on for the area. Before the outbreak, this town thrived on the sea and wooded mountains. Being from Alaska, this hits home. No high profile targets for mouth breathers either, unless they feel the need to travel half an hour, outside the norm, to snipe one.....single......player..., then make the half hour hike back. No military gear, hospital, school, police department.

Color degradation from blood loss has to go (loss of visual fidelity)

Far as I'm concerned, it needs to stay. And you didn't "have" to revive this topic. You didn't get the support you wanted for a reason. -
I never played the original, why is there 3rd person?
Ineedscoffee replied to infiltrator's topic in General Discussion
See I agree 100% with that. The downside is, the hardcore elite of elektro don't believe us, and seem to be under the impression that pressing tab is enough. -

I made a toon who ran with no weapons of any kind, just a 35 slot backpack stuffed with med supplies. Tac vest held my canteens, hoodie held can opener, compass, food, and pants held food. Kept busy in elektro for a good 45 mins just helping people. Then I was shot. Upon looting, my killer cried "noooooooo, this dude just saved me" lol -
DayZ's Missed Connections (Find Your Combat Logger!)
Ineedscoffee replied to pacific_coast's topic in General Discussion
I was a fresh Bambi in a yellow raincoat and green cargo pants. You were a rough and tough military man with a gasmask. Tell me what color my backpack was, and what friendly things we discussed before I made you "open fire". Oh, sorry, wrong idea of Missed Connections..... -

Bows are actually quite silent. Beside the twang of loosing an arrow, there really isn't much noise. -

http://sfwflot.tumblr.com/post/49846339760/arrow-to-the-knee-as-old-norse-slang-a-tribute-toSeems to mostly have roots in folklore I'm guessing. To me it makes far more sense the over half the population of guards across all realms being injured by such crippling marksmanship. -

Ineedscoffee replied to infiltrator's topic in General Discussion
I enjoy third person for seeing my charactor in the environment, and no, opening my menu is not the same thing. For combat however, I prefer first person, as I find third person hip firing to be inferior. I mostly stick to first person, as it feels the way the game was meant to be. -
If we were able to interact with a map that way, I would like to see it wear down from folding, unfolding, pressure from pens, etc. Now personally, mid love to make my own map with the paper and pens we run across.

Those would fall in line with hunting tips sir. Yes, they will do proper damage. There's no denying that. Now when the Op stated he couldn't wait for arrows, I went with the standard half inch round sport tips in mind, which are far more common then your screw on killers.Your average bow owner wouldn't have such tips on hand, making them a rarity in this setting. -

Don't get me wrong, fiberglass arrows and compound bows are a huge possibility. Most northern civilizations, such as Alaska, Canada, Russia, etc. still practice bow hunting. It provides a greater challenge for the hunter, as well as minimizes damage to the meat. Growing up in Alaska, I learned how to properly pull back a sixty pound draw on a hunting bow before I was allowed to use a rifle. Now I'm not familiar with daily living in Cherno, I could see them being widely used depending on the wildlife. -

Lol I don't think shooting someone with an arrow will squeeze compassion out of them :p Also, in regards to the whole Arrow in the knee thing, that was actually ancient nord slang for getting married. Which when you play Skyrim with that in mind, makes a helluva lot more sense then a guard force composed of cripples. -
"Come Out With Your Hands Up" (First Encounter)

I came out with my hands once, they were holding my m4. Judging from the sounds he made as I looted his pack, he was all but thrilled with the end result..... -

Technically, despite what popular media shows, killing someone with arrows takes forever. Especially if your doing so with crafted wooden arrows. The problem is they don't splinter off on impact to cause enough instant trauma. Unless it's a vital organ shot, your preys gonna be running away. You'll run out of arrows before you down them. The only scene I can think of in the last ten years to come close to an actual bow kill, is (Spoilers) Boromir in lord of the rings. Even at that, it would of taken a few more to put a man of that size down. When a bullet enters the tissue of your body, it fragments, causing immediate surrounding damage. An arrow, while it does cause trauma, actually can push organs aside, causing the surrounding tissue to be relatively unharmed. There's a reason bow hunters in Alaska bring a backup firearm. You would be better served with a quarter staff carved into a spear, and getting someone in the chest from throwing distance (I'm a leaf on the wind.....) or by ambushing them from....a bush.....and skewering the target from behind, just under the shoulder blade. Now if you have hunting tips on fiberglass shafts, were talking consistent quick kills. -
Hmmm, finding a picture of a Zombie Seagull isn't so easy...

Zombie seagulls! Dear god the horror. When tiny chunks of your flesh become the crackers......each of us, ingesting Alkaseltzor to fight back.....
