First off boy, trying to compile information while assisting customers, does not qualify as desperate. Second, owning two mosins hardly makes you an expert on every known production and or variation out there. Get some proof up of a mosin being ranged by a blaser. Otherwise, I'm dismissing this as fanboyism.

Then I misread the article, it happens. However, I still maintain that you will not be able to range a mosin with a blaser.

The barrel extends back to the stock, that's where my measurement data came from. I'm comparing all relevant data, not just pertaining to dayz. If you want to jump around, wave your hands in the air like a panicked spongebob, more power to ya. Unless your one of those that believe the barrel ends the moment it meets the wood.....

My findings: Blaser b95 is still a general purpose gun. Used mostly for close range hunting of wild boar and deer. Used in skeet shooting. Could find nothing on the effective long range end. 200 yards was most of the recorded data. Now even if a few people may of used it to hunt in Africa, that doesent mean they were parked deep up a mountain and putting a gazelle down a mile away. Most hunting safaris involved guides herding big game in front of the hunter, then him pulling the trigger. Never more then a couple hundred yards. Mostly depending on the caliber, rifling, and conditions. It's a novelty weapon adapted land owners who were allowed no more then one firearm per household. For hunting, you have the top barrel, self defense was commonly a shotgun bottom. Very destructive in its ranges, no doubt about that, however, it is untested as a long range sniper rifle. Or there's no data supporting it anyways. Given the shorter barrels, being akin to shotgun length, it could not feasibly range a mosin. The mosin was seen wide spread use as a war rifle. Made famous by Zaitsev amongst the Russians, made famous by the British for being a piss poor gun. Extremely simple and dependable, plus cheap. Only reason it saw so much action. Sharpshooters have recorded data of it hitting targets as far as 1.5km, and perfect conditions to 2.5km. 1500 plus yards in the right hands and with perfect conditions. Granted, Zaitsev was fighting in Stalingrad, and a 300 yard shot in those conditions is impressive, the average effective range is 500 to 800 yards with optics. The mosin also had a 51 and a 1/2 long barrel. We all know the longer the barrel, the more rifiling allowable. That coupled with a large caliber such as the 7.62, will put rounds downfield. Compare that to the average 24 and 1/2 barrel of the blaser. Shall I research more?

Clearly you kids are flat out ignoring the fact that it is a general use rifle. It will not range a mosin, nor will it put down a pack of people running up on you.

If it truly were an issue, they wouldn't of added it for players in Arma 1.....or Arma 2, or Arma 3, yadda yadda and so on. Nor would Dean have allowed it into Dayz. What do you "you people"? Had a similar model growing up. The term "ranch gun" means it's not fit for long range duty, such as a mosin, nor is it fit for cqb in mass numbers. It's a good general, all purpose gun. Google next time, you'll look less the idiot.

It's more of a ranch gun. Mid to shirt range. Meant for putting down horses, the occasional wild animal. It will feel very accurate in those ranges. Of course you wouldn't engage long range with it, however.

My first rifle was a .22. Got it back in 87, when I was five (yay Alaska). I fully plan on using it to annoy the hell out of people. What's that? You want to kneel and drink, go ahead and try. As if your not playing first person, your wrong. That's sacriels view. Now don't make assumptions about people you don't know Jack. It's in poor taste and you look like an ass. I play first person. It's my preference since combat in third is inferior. Even on not Hc servers, I use first person. Only time I pop into third, Is deep in the woods to see my toon eat or drink. Immersion is nice sometimes. Playing third person isn't wrong, it's just easy mode. It was a pre existing camera option from arma two. If rocket didn't want it, he would of removed it. Wiping your ass with someone else's opinion is pointless on this matter. Frankly, nothing says he has a greater understanding of the game then I. Is he better? Yeah. He rolls with a squad. Have I survived longer? Yes, because I survive, not look for firefights.
