MethHeadMario replied to Ugly (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Ok. All of you clearly didnt read the BIG BOX that has an I Understand button at the bottom of it.. -
Ammunition should be extremely rare
MethHeadMario replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in General Discussion
What you are NOT understanding is that this is a testing phase of the game and how can they test the game if they make items to rare to be found often enough to test. IT IS ALPHA !!! But you are right about it not being an Alpha problem because it is NOT a problem.. This is something you would worry about in an open beta or maybe even closed beta but not Alpha. You also have to think about how many items are in the game (and den) how many items there will be in the game in 6 months or so. Items will get thinned out as new items are moved in.. What method of spawning items would you put into the game? -
Ammunition should be extremely rare

Well as you know, this is Alpha.. Give it time and things will get balanced out.. Loot is soo easy to find because they want people to be able to find stuff to test out. -
I was reading about this type of idea in another post, so i decided to start a whole new topic on this and see what other opinions might be. Building's should be more interactable. Be able to install generators at specific points of buildings to be able to give power to a certain building or to a specific floor or a couple floors of a large apartment building. Then someone can setup lights or motion sensor lights or install one of those blood coolers or a food cooler for meats after hunting in the woods.. Of course this is something far later in the development but could be used in many more ways. Lets say when they do put in vehicles. You could install a generator at a gas station to get the pumps working. You could even leave the generator there for other people to use as long as someone keeps the generator filled with gas.. This would also give migration of zombies a little help also.. A loud generator would bring in zombies from pretty far away and then you would have to protect yourself while your filling your car with gas or protect your base while the generator is running.. While I was writing this I started coming up with something different. I will use Elektro as an example town.. The whole town of Elektro would be this type of event area and at specific points of the town, like the power plant, would be these missions that everyone can participate in. At the power plant the mission would be to turn in 1000 coal or wood, 500 spare parts, etc, etc. If the mission was completed the power in Elektro would be turned on for a few days. Of course turning on the power in elektro would only turn on the street lights and maybe get power to some buildings like the gas stations. Then maybe at certain points of the roads that come into Elektro you could have a mission where 1000 wood, some spare parts would have be turned in and then a barricade at that road point could be constructed that helps keep zombies out.. Of course there are soooooo many different problems that come with this, like bandit camping and who knows all the performance and things it might mess up, but this would also help in bringing people together to survive.. Because like the mod this game is always going to have a SoS(Shoot on Sight) mentality and take whatever you have for myself..

I agree.. I have no clue when it come's to coding and all that stuff that goes into making a game but the performance of this game is really bad and I have a decent rig setup. I also agree that zombies just arent a threat really. They are to easy to kill and not enough of them.
-
Of course having power will attract bandit's and zombie's.. Let's say I am on the second to last floor of one of those big apartment building's and i decide to turn on my generator.. First off the generator will be loud so then that starts attracting zombies and they are moving into the building i am in.. Of course the big apartment building's you have to use a ladder to reach the top so I am safe from the zombies, unless they learn how to climb ladders. then there is a bandit roaming the streets around the building and happens to look up and see lights from the windows where i am at and decides to try and sneak up and take everything I have. But then he would have to somehow deal with the zombies that are bundled up at the ladder without me hearing it. The story can go on but for me to avoid another wall of txt i will end it there and let you think about what could happen next.. My point is they could make use of the building's they have in game instead of making more building's that almost have no use at all..

Well missions was the name I gave it, not necessarily named that but a type of objective to work towards. I realize the actual work that goes into keeping a power plant going in real life is completely unrealistic for this game but the idea still stands because the objective is to get more than a couple people working together to make a safe haven from zombies.. Of course there would actually have to be a BIG threat from zombies and as of the mod and the SA, zombies just arent that big of a threat. And I dont think zombies ever will be a BIG threat because of performance problems.. And yes as of now, secure residents in building's would be a huge problem because of the logging onto another server from the same location but that can be fixed. A secured location is never secure. The idea behind secured locations was to give building's a use other than to loot and run out.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Towns and building should be able to be fixed up..

The day in the life of an utter expert
MethHeadMario replied to mooky32's topic in General Discussion
ok i am now confused..You dont care to spread your fame but yet you typed up this story which must have taken a LOT of time to try and bring people into the immersion.. You probably wasted more time typing this story than you have playing the game. Which this story probably never happened because top knotch players know that if you can't prove it, it didn't happen.. -
Color degradation from blood loss has to go (loss of visual fidelity)
MethHeadMario replied to alleycat's topic in General Discussion
I agree but then i dont agree.. I think it should start kicking in when u lose alot of blood, not just a little.. I believe its like 1 or 2 hits before you start losing color. But I think my problem with it is how long you stay this way.. I know I saw something in a patch note about blood regeneration but I dont know for sure if it's in the game because my character hasnt seen good color for about a week now.. -
Dean could release this game as a barebone game, like the mod and still make tons of money because it is Dayz. There isn't anything like it, except for a few indie games i have seen recently. I read a quote earlier from Dean stating that hiring more people isn't very easy and could actually slow the game making process slower. Which to me sounds like he is very hesitant on hiring new people. Also alot of teacher's look to the kids they teach for better ways to teach bro.

Is it worth buying Dayz standalone yet? [With Developer responses]

Rolling Update Rev. 0.30.114008
MethHeadMario replied to Hicks_206 (DayZ)'s topic in News & Announcements
First off i want to say, SmashT, You completely wasted your time answering that legend00 post. I have no clue on how developing a game goes but I can use common sense and figure out that you can't just go hiring anyone like it's a fast food resturaunt. With that out of the way I also want to stick it to the dev's and say that being proud that you pushed out 3 tiny tiny patches over the holidays is a bit of a exaggeration. Most of those patches were tiny bug fixes and the few items you put in the game were probably done for the most part before release. The reason why I say that is because the M4a1 was being worked on for like 6 months, maybe longer and Dean Hall always says if he is going to do it, he is going to do it right. So we know the Revolver wasn't started and finished since the release. Now with what legend00 said Dean Hall has to start doing something because if Dayz SA stays at its current pace, we won't see a beta for YEARS!!!! Yes, I understand that things need be planned and looked at thoroughly, BUT this game already has so many idea's implemented but not finished. Which is fine..Hell i bought Arma 2 just to play Dayz Mod and I never even touched Arma 2 the actual game itself.. People will play this game regardless of how long it takes to release or how many bugs there are. Just like the Dayz Mod. I play Dayz SA now and I will play it years from now because there just isn't anything like it but those quotes sound more like BS and Dean never answer's the question fully. Now for all those people with the angry posts about how long things are taking.. Dayz SA Alpha was a big success and Dean made ton's of money so he is taking a break. Which is great, as long as he comes back with a commitment to bring us a great game.. Which THAT is what I am worried about. Is he just going to finish a bare bone game and let the community take over like the mod or is he going to make a game? The answer to this question is what everyone should be worried about.. He could add vehicles and maybe a couple more guns, fix the bugs and then let the community take over, just like the mod. Then all we have is an upgraded Dayz Mod. Did Dean Hall bite off more than he can chew?? All we can do is wait and see.. This is all based on my opinion and what I have seen or read over the years of keeping an eye out on Dayz SA. Please don't reply stating that I am wrong about what Dean is doing through the holidays. Most of this is just conjecture. -

Zombie Respawns and "Capturing" Towns
MethHeadMario replied to combatcomm1's topic in General Discussion
I really like the idea but as LDSkinny said with this system they would never be able to do things like that.. -
New feature suggestion - "Step over" window frames
MethHeadMario replied to Slavaker's topic in General Discussion
Yeah that would give a little variety to exploring building's.. There could be barricades at the doors and you would have to find the right window to climb in..If anyone knows the game Project Zomboid, Dayz would benefit alot from the idea's from that game.. -
I havent been on in a couple of days but when did they add the Healthy Moodle Box in the inventory screen? I dont think i have ever seen that moodle.. But as Ulfhedjinn said, you can tell how close to death you are by how gray'ed out your screen is and by how fast your hunger and thirst come up..

How far can gunshots be heard from?
MethHeadMario replied to desryachri's topic in General Discussion
I dont know the actual distance but me and a buddy were in a medium size town and i couldnt hear him killing zombies on the otherside of the town.. Same with the sounds of people walking.. You almost have to be right on top of them to hear them running, unless they are full sprinting on concrete..
