Thanks for the quick replies! I get what ya'll are saying. I watch the sight/sound indicator pretty close. My problem was, I was spawning in spots that zombies 5 feet from my face and I was being immediately attacked. I was even going prone immediately upon spawning, without taking any steps, and still getting agro from zombies and getting killed. Should I just keep respawning until I get a better starting spot?

AFAIK there is no topo map for C+ yet. I've been checking for one myself. I went on a week long quest to find maps. The best on by far is dayzdb as far as the SA goes. I have to find a downloadable map that has loot spawns marked and is large enough that I can zoom in enough to see where the buildings are This is not the map for the DayZ Standalone. This is for the Mod, there are a lot of new buildings and some new towns that are not on that map. You should try to use dayzdb.com

It really depends on the type of weapon and how often you're used to shooting. I shoot sporting clays from time to time, which requires 100 rounds through a 12g in pretty quick succession.. Although I'm used to it and have shot my whole life. The repeated recoil from a 12g, 100 times, usually in less than an hour, will definitely leave a bit of a bruise on the shoulder. Accuracy really is dependent on your personal tolerance for the "pain". I don't find it painful, more uncomfortable than anything.

I noticed this as well, one of my friends like to run with the mosin a lot and yesterday I watched him shoot 4 times at a zombie that was no more than 2 feet from him. The gun almost looked like it was hitting the zombie.. and he missed.. We laughed at him and told him to uninstall the game.. he told us to f*ck off and then nailed a zombie from 400M+ so I couldn't say much after that xD

Very long Read, tl:dr at the bottom I really need to start recording. I almost can't believe what actually happened but this story is a perfect representation of why I love this game and have put nearly 100 hours into it over the last 2 or 3 weeks.. Yesterday I was looting Elektro alone. Terrible Idea, I know, but the only friend I had online was way up near the NEAF. I went into the office/school building next to the hospital to loot the weapons storage room upstairs since all I had at the time was a .45... As I entered the lobby of the building I could hear a wounded person making that grunting noise and I could hear eating/drinking sounds. If someone was here and injured, they would either be very hostile and defensive or they may be very injured and need some help. I start to search the building’s 2nd floor. It sounds like the person is either on top of me or very close by, maybe upstairs in the weapon’s room. I slowly make my way around the steps and upstairs. No one is there but I can still hear them. I figure they are outside the building on the roof and I turned around to face the door and leave the room when a person steps through the door. I immediately tell him to put his hands up and do not move but he backs out of the door before I could make any move of my own. He was pretty geared up with an M4, military clothing and a gas mask, although I thought it was a bandit mask at first since I only got a quick look at him as he walked in and then quickly backed out. I repeat over the mic: “Guy with the mask, I saw you. Give up or I’ll shoot.” He seemed to have disappeared. I gingerly stepped out of the door and did not see him. I assume he went down the stairs so I started down. I could still hear his guy making the injured grunting/groaning sounds. They got louder as I descended the stairs to the lobby. With my gun at the ready and back in 1PP I slowly (tapping “a” softly over and over to inch to the left) come around the corner of the stairs. He is waiting for me, M4 already up and ready to fire. Without thinking or assessing the situation I quickly unload my 45 into him and dart back around the stairs at the same time. I knew I had shot him, I had to. Problem was her got me too. I was bleeding like mad and thought I had just lost the fight and would pass out any second.. Screen was so blurry I could barely see and everything is B/W. I’m not dead though, I come around the stairs, gun at the ready to see him lying dead on the floor. I quickly patched myself and looted his body (got the m4 without going to a base haha) I spent the next hour or better slowly looting house-to-house in elektro, eating everything I could and drinking all my water from my canteens, the canteens off the guy I killed and stopping at fountains. I eventually got my color back but the screen stayed blurred so I did the Video settings trick in order to continue playing. My goal at this point was to get healthy. I didn’t want to risk leaving the city and cause myself more harm by running around without supplies but I also knew staying in Elektro was a risk. I didn’t care at that point. If I got killed then I would respawn and have a fresh guy. Loot is expendable and collectable. Not worried about it. I was just finishing up at the fountain in the center of Elektro near the firehouse and headed towards the firehouse to check for 45 clips and ammo. The M4 I picked up off the dead guy only had 1 60 round clip with only ~40 rounds of ammo in it. When I rounded the corner of the house and stepped onto the sidewalk between the firehouse and the building across the street I got my wish of getting killed and respawning. I heard the crack of a gunshot and a split second later my screen was black. I had been shot by a bandit with a Mosin. This is where things get awesome and I really wish I had recorded it. I respawn IN ELEKTRO!! I took off running to my dead body thinking “I wonder if I can run to it, grab my stuff and run away fast enough to not get shot”. This was my plan. If I died, oh well, I just spawned and I’ll just spawn again. As I’m running down the road I can see the bandit still looting my body. After all it only been maybe 45 seconds to a minute tops since I died and hit respawn and ran the couple of blocks from the ocean to the firehouse. I decided to go LEROY JENKINS on his ass. The direction I was running happened to be right up behind him, his back to me. I keyed up on the mic “I’m coming for that booty.. I’m coming to get that booty”. To my amazement, he had picked up my M4 (that I had just taken from the guy I killed) AND THEN DROPPED IT ON THE GROUND!!!! Also to my amazement, he either did not hear me telling him that I was coming for him or he was afk for that couple seconds. Either way, I was able to run right up to him, pick up the M4 off the ground (pressing TAB and drag/dropping as fast as my fingers would move) before he realized I was there. Once I grabbed the M4 he realized I was there and ran to cover, as did I.. I circled the building across from the firehouse where the fountain is, ran cross the street and back around to where I could see the firehouse again. He had ran to field just outside the firehouse and looked like he was trying to find me.. he ran a good ways along the road in the field then came back. I was hiding in a bush next to the road not sure if I had been seen. I got a clear line of sight and took a shot. Missed him. Shot again, this time a burst of maybe 4/5 shots. Landed at least 1 shot as I saw blood start to fall. 1, 2, 3, 4 more shots at him and he falls. HE GETS THE F*CK BACK UP! And I shot him one more time. Once he was good and dead I got all my stuff back, plus some of his. I also made it a point to taunt him a bit for the lulz. Once I saw his body fall for good I ran to him yelling on the mic “You shot the wrong guy, who did you think you were messing with? Didn’t expect me to come right back and kill your ass. That’s what you get for being a bandit and not paying attention.” My roommate, who also has the SA and has probably put a good 60+ hours since I bought for him on steam, was watching the whole time. He had gone AFK from his guy who was up at the NEAF and had come into my office to talk to me about something. He laughed pretty hard when I shot the guy and got his stuff. This story had a happy ending though, something other than death and destruction. Remember I said my intentions had been to check the firehouse for loot. After I got done dealing with that guy and picking up what loot I needed/wanted (there was still a lot left on his body and on the ground) I went into the firehouse to check it out. There was a guy in there. I don’t know if he was server hopping or ran in from the other side after me and that guy fought, or if he was a witness to it as well from inside the firehouse tower. He was not armed and saw my gun and immediately made contact with me and announced he was friendly and just looking for loot. I told him to turn around and face away, which he did. I cuffed him and searched him. He had nothing except some clothes. It looked like he spawned in Elektro and looted what he could en route to the firehouse. I’m not a bandit. I don’t KoS unless I feel it is necessary. Instead of taking what little this guy had, I opened a few cans of food and dropped them in his inventory along with something else. Told him about the dead body with lots of loot just outside and then told him to count to 10 out loud and I would be gone. As I ran out of the firehouse towards the power plant I could hear him inside “ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR…” TLDR: Was looting Elektro alone. Killed one guy in a shoot out, i had a 45 and took his M4 after. Got sniped shortly after while trying to re-gen health. Repawned in elektro, was able to get back to my body, grab my gun and kill the bandit that killed me, trolling him the whole time. I then gave free loot to a newbro and disappeared into the countryside. Sometimes I rob people, sometimes I get in fights, and sometimes I give stuff out for free. I need to start recording.

AFter having to patch myself from a few zombie attacks, I got into a firefight with a guy and killed him but took heavy damage. My screen was so bad I could hardly see and honestly thought I would pass out even after I stopped the bleeding. Since then I've been able to eat and drink and take vitamins back to full color on my screen but it is still so blurry I can hardly see.. It's like having a terrible astigmatism and no glasses. I usually just go into the video settings and it resets. Is this a glitch or am I still hurt? I never got a 'sick' indicator the whole time.

I like it. Before Everyone spawned in the Cherno area and went to Balota.. That is where 80% of the people were.. Since everyone has started to spawn between Elektro and Berezino I have seen people spread out A LOT MORE. Balota is sometimes a ghost town, the NEAF is like the new Balota, and Cherno has more Zombies than people. I've seen a lot more people in the interior of the map since the change. I actually think it's easier to get your initial foot hold in the game as far as getting what yo need to survive with everyone spread out more. You don't have 10 new spawns all trying to loot the same neighborhood in Cherno.. Also, since the spawn balance, either Elektro has become much more violent or I am just noticing it more.. idk which.

10/10 Would hang glide from the top of Devil's Castle.. to the NWAF and try to land on the airstrip.. only to be shot by bandits upon approach!

When I'm a freshspawn and I feel like I'm about to be killed, I start verbally abusing them to at least make it worth it. I think KoSing a freshspawn is nothing more than being bored and wanting to do something other than loot. Yesterday I did this to the extent that the 2 would-be attackers left me alone. They came after me with melee weapons and I started running around asking if they thought they were good at this game because they were trying to kill a fresh spawn. Then I asked them if they ever thought they would actually catch me (I was running erratically around them as fast as I could) then I started telling them to watch out behind them for that zombie that was about to attack.. After that I just started rambling about nonsense while still running as fast as possible in cirlces and figure-8's around them.. After realizing they were being trolled by the person they had attempted to kill, they left..

People will always kill people. It's what we do. I shot a guy in the face with the Mosin because he was hot-mic'd and typing to me. I saw him and said hey, he said hey back. He then stopped talking and started typing.. idk why.. but he was hot-mic'd the whole time. I even told him he was hot-mic'd and I could hear him typing on his keyboard. After he either refused to listen, or didn't understand me.. I shot him. No telling how many other people could hear him and were maybe drawn to the sound.. Hopefully my shot scared them off.. I'll never know as I ran out of Elektro after that.. People will always kill people. It's what we do.

What settings are you guys getting 10fps? I have i7 quad core@3.5ghz, 8 gig ram, nvidia 560 and I rarely have performance issues running on Normal and High settings, 1920x1080 res. Most of the issues I have that would be lag or fps related at all are with the inventory lagging badly at times and the occasional multiple shots from one click of the mouse

I think it is T. I tried to set my T key for auto-turbo without having to double tap W and it told me that "T" is for "Toggle Weapon" or "Weapon Toggle" something like that. Wasn't sure what it meant and didn't really think it meant fire mode but I will try this now when I get home. Having semi-auto on the M4 would be amazing. I have put 3/4 shots into people/zombies when I only pressed the button once due to lag (I assume due to lag)

I know this community likes a good story of betrayal, murder, espionage, etc.. You wouldn't be here if you didn't. :) My story begins in Elektro, I had recently spawned in the city and had been looting it for a good while. I had picked up a .45 and a loaded clip in the firehouse in town, along with some other clothing items, i think it was the TTsKO pants and a hoodie and a beanie.. I was headed to the firehouse at the power plant to check for more loot and then head north out of town. I was gingerly approaching the firehouse (The 2 firehouses in Elektro get hopped a lot and are almost always hostile) when I heard what sounded like zombie screams from inside. I thought "Ah, a zombie must be glitched into the stairs again" and proceeded inside. What I actually found was a guy running in circles trying to whack the zombie with a pipe wrench inside the building. Once he saw me come in the door he said "Hey, don't shoot me I'm trying to kill this thing". I promptly shot the zombie and he thanked me. I noticed he was bleeding from what looked like multiple wounds. I checked to see if I had any rags left, nope. I asked him if he had any bandages and he said "no". I told him he could rip his shirt into rags and use that, he graciously thanked me for the advise and I saw him take his shirt off his character. He was standing under the stairs next to all the shelves on the first floor. It was then that I made my mistake. I took my eyes off him. I turned to watch the front door while he patched himself. The next thing I hear is a gun shot from behind me, sounded like the .45.. then another... then.. "You are Dead".. My second Story also comes from the Book of Elektro.. I was again raiding the city of Elektro firehouses when I climbed to the roof to both check for loot and look for activity. I was in the main firehouse in the city (not the power plant) and looked around, as my FOV fell over the coast I could see a freshspawn and a semi-geared player. The freshspawn was on his knees, wearing no clothes, while the semi-geared guy was standing over him beating him with a fire extinguisher. (lol) . I immediately went into superhero mode and ran down the stairs and out the door. They were only 2 blocks away so I was able to get there before the other guy had died, although he was bleeding pretty badly.. I got there about the same time as a Zombie.. The geared guy had stopped beating the freshspawn when the zombie arrived and had backed into what looked like a carport attached to a house.. he saw me and said over the mic "dude, no, wait" when he saw I had my .45 aimed at his head. I fired and missed as he side-stepped at the last second. I heard the shot glance off the wall and he took out running. He had a Mosin over his back so I was worried he would try and wheel around and fire back. I landed one shot as we were running between houses and fences. We kept running. FInally, he went one way around a house and I went the other, I thought I could cut him off. He must have thought he lost me and he went into the house and opened a can of soda. I could hear it open and I quickly entered the door and placed the killing headshot on him while he was drinking his soda. I sprinted back to where I had left the freshspawn thinking he was either dead, almost dead, or had ran away. If he was there, I was determined to help the guy to show him we are not all bad here. I had a first aid kit and some other random medical like antibiotics and alcohol tincture. When I got back I quickly realized what I had done. In my haste to save the freshspawn, I had over looked one glaring reality we are all faced with when we log into this game. It's a buggy alpha. His character was still there, still on his knees, still spewing blood in so many places I could not count.. He was glitched and I had just shot at, chased down, and killed a guy because he was whacking a glitched out body with a fire extinguisher. If that was you and you're reading this.. If you let your connection time out, you will lose your character. I had this problem a lot in the beginning. I even put a support ticket in for it (something most people here don't do, it seems the new "support ticket" is a post on in the general section) Here is your answer and work around until it's fixed: When a server is about to restart you will see a SOLID YELLOW chain link appear (if you see a broken yellow chain link it means something else). It will appear for about 5-10 seconds and then you will see a red chain link appear along with the message "No messages received for xx seconds" LOG OFF THE SERVER WHEN YOU SEE THE SOLID YELLOW. In my experience if you make it to roughly the 30 second mark on the countdown, your character will be lost. If you exit before that, your character will be saved. If you are getting up from your PC and going AFK while logged in, well that is a problem in itself. DayZ is not the type of game where you go AFK while logged in.

I think the rarest Item is a Can opener, but only when you don't have one. Once you have one they suddenly appear everywhere..

This may seem like an odd question, but were you wearing pants when this happened? I had a guy try and mug me in Elektro yesterday. He had a Mosin, a backpack, and no pants.. I had a .45 with no clip so I made a run for it.. He started taking shots at me as I ran away swerving left and right eventually either him or another guy I saw running up on us got a shot on me just before I could duck behind a house. I was able to patch myself but I lost a lot of blood and was in bad shape so I went back into Elektro and threw myself from a building to get a fresh spawn.

It doesn't matter what you enjoy, all that matters is that the 1PP only "master race" are better than all of you and that your play style is wrong because they said so. This is more annoying than the KoS vs NON-KoS discussions. It's a personal preference, and no one is wrong expect the people who are telling others they are wrong for having a difference preference.

Opinions are like assholes. So because part of the community thinks 1PP is "bad" they should remove it? They should only cater to a certain crowd? What about people who say people who play on Day servers are wrong? Or people who say night servers are wrong? There are different ways to play for a reason. It's an open world sandbox that allows you to play however you like. I like using both 3PP and 1PP depending on the situation. People who come here and cry about KOS vs NON-KOS or "You shouldn't use #pp because I don't think it's the 'real dayz'" and "It should be this way because i like it this way" are nothing but detrimental to the community. It reminds me of people who go to the eve online forums and cry because they were ganked. It is in the far NE, I am going to check it out later. I spawned on the east coast last night. I checked the map @ dayzdb.com and you can see the ship as a large greay rectangle on the coast in the upper NE, there is also another ship wreck on the SE corner of the map, but it's useless crap. Went there yesterday.. after swimming out to the island as a freshspawn, looting the village there only to realize there are no spawns in those buildings, I threw myself from the top of the lighthouse lol

This group kicks people from their servers if you're not one of them. Which is a violation of the hosting rules. I saw their server in the list and tried, got kicked.. thought it was an error, tried again, got kicked. I have now been kicked off their server 3 times. Once immediately, the other 2 times I wasn't seen right away by Admin and was there for a few minutes both times. This server should be blacklisted for terms of use violation.

I wanted to vote but it says the poll is over. Please put a shotgun i the game, I have been to all but 1 military base and have yet to find a shotgun. I was hording shotgun ammo for a long time in hopes of finding one. Idk why we would get ammo spawns for guns that don't exist. :/

Since the patch I have noticed: Magnums are spawning EVERYWHERE. I find Magnums more often than I used to find .45's.. Just go to a firehouse, there will be like 3 magnums there. It's cool, it's a cool gun, but I prefer the .45 and they are a bit harder to find now.. Ironically, the first firehouse I went to after teh patch had 2 magnums, no magnum ammo but 3 full .45 clips laying around with no .45's.. Also, I have yet to spawn anywhere except the East coast. Do we only spawn there?

I have used Alcohol Tincture on 2 different occasions to bring myself back from being sick. I always get "My wounds look cleaner" "My wounds hurt less" If I am sick I look for a hospital and try to get painkillers and antibiotics. The alcohol tincture seems to be a bit more rare and I have found those in houses more than hospitals.
