    Zombies and Nature

Exactly they interpret the current state of people and can't tell what they have done in the past. Someone might be crazy and then be friendly to the dog and reality it should be non the wiser. Or in your case they might be nice and then have an off day and then the dog considers them a threat regardless of their usually kind nature.
  2. The new system incorporates a network bubble that prevent the player from loading any entities that are too far away so that side is doining much better. The server will still have to take the stain of the zombies but they tend to very powerful anyway and with the improvements to the system and the use of multiple core usage for servers will iprove this further so I think they are going to do fine. You method has the unfortunate side effect of letting players know if there are people around by looking if zombies have spawned.

    Zombies and Nature

Personally don't like the idea of arbitrary stats that RPGs tend to have that are like the karma system that you have. Reason being that dogs generally just react badly to strangers and not just bad people. Additionally some people are unaffected by violence so punishing all with negative effects that others have suggested doesn't include the variety that we have in reality. I not a fan however of the current amount of KOS. But this will likely decline to only the most hateful players once zombies become fully implemented. This will happen especially if zombies end up being more of a threat than the players (something that unfortunately never happened in the mod). This will lead to more player cooperation and tolerance to focus on the real threat of the zombies.

    Zombies and Nature

With weather I believe there either is or will be an effect from rain. Which is to lower you body temperature potentially making you ill. So having more weather types would be great but would take time to implement if they do as some, such as snow, are more visually complex than rain. Animals and hunting are in development based on developer logs. The idea of rideable animals such as horses would be pretty cool. With the idea of dogs it might be better if they growl rather than bark as a bark would draw attention and perhaps you need to keep feeding them but intern they can help you locate items that have a distinct sent such as food, water and medicine. Zombies are currently an altered version of the old system from the mod and based on developer logs they intend to redo this entirely, as it has restrictions and is not as efficient as they would like.
  5. Doesn't anyone pay attention to the developers, they already have solutions to these problems and are in the process of implementation / testing.

Mods! Can we have a suggestions thread please?

Was about to post topic, before seeing this in search. Excellent to hear its coming as there is a lot of great ideas on the forum that have been swamped generally by new players asking for help.

    Discourage career bandits

Once zombies are more formidable, a lot of peoples attention will be drawn to them, especially if they are more dangerous than other players. Random large hordes would also add challenges that players can enjoy seeking out, rather than terrorizing fresh spawns.

I feel bad killing this guy/Is my kill justified?

    How could you. Murderer!
  9. I think that we need to wait for further feature development such as numerous and inelegant zombies before tweaking game balance. There are certain features to come that will have a large effect on player behavior and loot balance so trying to balance before then would be wasteful. Once there are in balancing will be more relevant.
  10. WTF are you talking about, its called DayZ you pillock, of course there are going to be zombies and of course they are going to be a threat.
  11. There is already a solution for combat logging in the pipeline. Additionally once the zombies become more of a threat (better AI and more numerous) KOS will be reduced to possibly health levels. This would likely occur if the zombies were more of a threat than other players as they would then become a common enemy for players to form temporary alliances under. Not to mention the risk of starting a PVP fight with a load of zeds around. A little patience and these already planed and partially developed features will start to take effect and will manipulate the general player behavior without forcing any one to not KOS with some awful handicap feature ect.

Zombies should have MUCH more HP than humans

I would like to see them become more intelligent and numerous with the current balancing before considering altering their speed and strength.

Lets make it a little easier for the Devs

No option for further AI development, I think this will have a far more influential effect than most people think, if done to the standards described by rocket. It could impede server jumping and plausibly take KOS down to satisfactory levels. This is would be due to zombies being more threatening than player therefore they would take the brunt of player aggregation, all without removing KOS allowing players to choose how they play.
  14. One thing that was mentioned on a stream from rocket was that certain vehicle might be difficult to add. In particular fast vehicles such a choppers. This is due to the influence bubble system that is in place, that basically means that if your in a certain area or city, the server only sends you relevant information about zombies, loot and other players if they are also within the vicinity based on a set range. This means that less information is needed to be sent to each player, resulting in lower bandwidth and CPU requirements of users, Unfortunately this system could be strained by fast moving vehicles, not that its not doable but its just not as simple as you might think. As far as I am aware there is no timeline info on vehicle implementation.

    [SUGGEST] new inventory slots

They already have the ability to restrict items to certain body parts without using up the inventory e.g. aka equipped head gear, weapons, ect. So an additional one for the neck makes sense and should be doable. For the use of the item it could work with the current hot bar system as the weapons already do that.
  16. I think having the sound being triggered when another player spots you is too unrealistic and a clear arbitrary game-play mechanic. It would also drain CPU resources to keep checking if they can see you. say there are 100 players, the server must check if each player can see the other 99 players, that 100*99 = 9900 checks, so it adds up. There are ways to make it more efficient but why when there is another solution. Just have the sound go off periodically and not just when you see someone. This could be increased if the player is carrying a lot of items, ie more weight would mean that twigs are more likely to snap, footsteps are heavier and the items could even clank around in your inventory. This is more realistic as sounds don't just occur when you are near to someone and it would be less of a CPU drain as the sound system could easily manage another couple of sounds a minute.

    Increase Zombie Speed.

I would like to see them become more intelligent and numerous with the current balancing before altering their speed and strength.

    Real life zombie apocalypse

I think it would depend on the relative threat of other people. If zombies were a larger threat than other people I think that people would band together to aggressively combat them (safety in numbers). Also there is the consideration that in the game other players aren't too useful but in reality having a couple of good allies around would be very useful. Perhaps then it would be quite similar but instead of just individual there would likely be a lot of groups. You also have to bear in mind that survival of the fittest is not in play in the game as any and every one can re spawn. In reality this would have a massive effect and its hard to tell what mindsets would be the most useful. But I imagine fighting with every other person you see would result too many risks to be sustainable. ie they could kill you, zombies would be drawn to you and could kill you, even a small wound could cause death if not treated correctly.

    Regarding the current zombie AI

In rockets twitch streams he talked about this. The current AI is an improvement on the old AI from the mod, but like you said it has limitations. He mentioned that some time after the alpha release that a totally new AI system will be developed and added. We are currently experiencing the older limited AI. The reason that they glitch through walls and the old ones from the mod did not is that the AI and a lot of the buildings were modified for the SA.

    Stop changing spawns until....

They can always change it back or even change to a new system, part of being involved in the development of the game will involve them testing out sometimes frustrating features for us, so that they can get a better understanding of how certain changes effect gameplay and player behavior. One of the things that drew me to the mod was how he talked about the game being a social experiment. Which I find to be a very cool concept. Basically still voice your opinions on changes, just don't be disheartened if the change doesn't initially match your preferences.
  21. IcyBlade

Why DayZ needs an RPG part.

Arbitrary restrictions to force people to to conform to behaviors that you deem correct. So no not a fan. What was great about the mod and will continue to be with the SA is that it was in part a social experiment to see how people behave in certain scenarios. As the game develops, players will adapt to alterations so for instance the addition of numerous, smart and aggressive zombies that I believe are intended will cause a massive change in player behavior. So adding restrictions on current behavior is pointless as it will change anyway.
  22. Totally agree with #3 As I have said before: "In human history we have proven we are selfish and aggressive. We have however also seen that when faced against a common enemy people will band together to overcome the more powerful opposition, then they will either continue fighting each other or perhaps form meaningful alliances. This can be used, by making zombies far more numerous, deadly and aggressive so that they become this common enemy. Additionally zombie hord mentality may also encourage player grouping, as in war, mirroring oppositions behavior is common, generally as you don't want them to have the advantage. Can't stop people fighting but you can persuade them to at least not fight each other as much." Doesn't remove PVP but provides motivation for an alternative so that you at least have a choice.
  23. IcyBlade

    The development plan...

Two twitch streams he did that were both very informative, provide a good understanding of what will be coming up for the future of the game. http://www.twitch.tv/rocket2guns/profile/pastBroadcasts The most recent one was the most informative, both are quite long, but if you haven't played yet its also gives a good representation of game play so you can see what its like before potentially buying.
  24. IcyBlade

    Done testing for now

I tend to keep to myself in game being all sneaky like. But if you know what they are about to do, can't you predict where they will appear and be waiting for them? Won't work every time but its worth a try. Alternately I have seen a thread referring to how to get onto the experimental build of the game so you can start using the patch early in exchange for higher probability of bugs.
