Yeah, whilst I agree that it would be a kinda cool idea, I think it'll be too much of a load on the server. My community tried similar things with the mod(almost all variations too) and found that there is only so much a server can take before either loading times when entering the server itself would screw up, or other scripts would inadvertently break as a consequence of the load placed on it. Whilst some of them could be fixed through hours and hours of de-bugging, some of the more crucially needed scripts would be irreparable. The most common issue was the loot tables and loot respawn timings would screw right up.

Yeah, DayZ Wiki is pretty much where you want to go. Unless you're on a server that's running rMod/rMod2, then you'll want to trawl through the Arma2 wiki's.

Only thing I can say really (and this isn't me taking the piss) is that you should think about investing in a gaming desktop/laptop. While your graphics maybe upto scratch for the moment, your processor speed and total amount of RAM is holding you back.

How long were you playing for before you logged out? I've been told that if you only log in for a few minutes, sometimes any changes you actually make wont save to the hive. Apparently because there is a sync timer that saves periodically rather than the moment something changes, whether or not it's a feature, a bug or a temporary method of saving until they get around to come up with a permanent solution, I don't know. It could also be that the server you moved to wasn't connected to the same hive as your previous log-in. Couldn't tell you how that works and what the criteria is for that to happen.

1. You were warned repeatedly when buying into it, that this is an Alpha release and to expect to lose your progress, either by bugs or by hive resets. 2. You get warned about this everytime you log on. 3. You obviously have no idea what the purpose of the Alpha is. 4. Instead of ranting and trying to stop new players from buying into the Alpha (do you really think you'll make a difference when 1.5 million people already have?), try being useful to the community and Dev Team by reporting the bugs in a constructive manner. 5. The Devs priority right now is making sure the engine itself is running stable, this doesn't involve information being lost. That will most likely be sorted at Beta. Try and be a grown up and have patience. 6. If you can't do that: Go play Rust until DayZ is declared Beta. Stops useless posts like these from polluting the forums. Ta-ra bye bye then.

Next time you load the game read the thing that you're clicking the "I Understand" button for. Because by that statement you clearly don't. I suggest that you don't click the button until it's sunk in.

3rd person makes the game so much easier to play and negates the need to essentially expose yourself when looking over/around objects when in cover. You also have a clearer view when looking behind you. 1st person means you have to be way more careful because you can only see over something that's lower than eye height, it also limits your ability to look over your shoulder. Particularly when you are wearing the larger backpacks available, making spatial awareness a more involving task than spinning the camera around you. That's what makes it hardcore.

Yes and then there's the likes of EA who charge upto a total of £100 for a broken AAA title that they had rushed out after Beta. Have next to no communication with the community, with a Dev team (DICE) that are more concerned with balancing weapons when a vast majority still can't play their broken product properly. Yeah, Hall and Lightfoot are the biggest crooks EVAR!!!

I've had the same, ran about 10k in total and only needed to drink. Wouldn't mind but all I could find was food and the odd can of pipsi. It's like there's a drinks shortage at the moment.

I had something similarly weird happen with the last update (not todays I should add, haven't been on yet). What happened was that my very first character, that I'd committed suicide with a few weeks before, was resurrected with all the gear that she had before I stripped and threw her off an apartment block roof. Went back to my 50 dayer (the one I've been using ever since) after about 30 mins of relogging, hopefully I wont lose him just yet. He's a rock hard bastard!

If doors are open then generally they've already been searched simply move on to one that seemingly hasn't. I say seemingly because some people will set traps by closing the doors of a house and hiding. If you're looking for a rifle in houses then you wont find one. Unlike the mod, weapons of that type are restricted to military areas (like Balotta Airfield) or prisons and in small numbers. Out of the pistols you'll more commonly find .357 Magnums than FX35's or whatever the other pistol's called in civilian areas. Keep searching fella.

They were likely of the mindset that you had nothing that they needed and saw no harm in letting you go on your way... I had a similar experience back when the Alpha first launched. A guy at Balotta with an M4 came across me in the prison, carrying nothing but an axe if I remember right. I spotted him first and told him that my axe was on my shoulder and that I was no threat. He told me that there was no bother because he had no ammo anyway. Seeing as I had no gun to use it with and considering I don't kill people for their hard earned gear when I could just find it myself (it's part of the enjoyment I get from playing), I told him about a magazine I'd spotted in one of the hangars. He was grateful enough to lead me to a slightly damaged M4 that he'd seen in one of the barracks before going for the mag. We ended up banding together for safety's sake until we reached Cherno, where he bade me fairwell and headed north, while I went into town to find some more gear. That/My character is still alive now, and I still have that same M4 that he took me to, albeit with Pristine parts and a scope that I've found along the way. I guess the moral of the story is that there are just some genuinely helpful and friendly people out there that, should a zombie apocalypse happen, will only take what they need to survive.

That's given me a brain wave. Award survival to that extent with immunity to certain infections, less able to be rattled under fire, can resist pain better eg from stab wounds and the like. Even have a trait much like the one from Fallout where you collected so many scars that anyone you end up in battle against becomes shaken and less effective with firearms or what ever (shaking and throwing up from nerves, loosening of bowel).

I'd like to be able to make bayonet work personal, being nose to nose with your victim, looking them dead in the eye, shushing him (or her) as I twist the blade and they begin bleeding out.... I'm already having that issue with the blurriness mechanic when you're hurt, less to do with convenience I know but it's a bloody nightmare on the eyes. Thankfully being able to disable it by turning Post-processes off. Hopefully they wont change that.

I walked out of one of the barracks on Balotta yesterday and the game told me I got shot in the arse (ruined my trousers and most of what was in the pockets)... There was no one there. I think it's just a bug. It'll get ironed out.

I have to turn off post processing or kill myself whenever I get badly hurt because the blurriness brings on anything from minor eyestrain to chronic migraines. All because my already corrected eyesight thinks I've not got my glasses on or lenses in and tries to focus out the blurriness. When in actual fact it isn't caused by my shitty vision to begin with but the game. If you ever want to know what it's like to be badly short sighted in real life like I am ( - 6 on both eyes) , then keep the effects on and let a Zed slap you around a bit. It's fucked up. Back on topic, I think the guy you're talking about has completely missed the point of the social aspect of computer games. Either that or up until recently he's been playing on the Sega Megadrive and only just got his hands on a PC and online gaming and is still learning about it :P.

I call it a legit tactic. I'd expect this kind of behavior from time to time, particularly if you have 2 clans on the same server constantly RP'ing against each other. Some gaming communities (like the one I'm apart of) use 3rd party coms, such as TS, for legit reasons. To socialize as much as communicate with other players in the same game (which we aren't always playing the same thing), or to get a hold of an admin. I wouldn't go vilifying people or groups that use them, whether they choose to use them in game or not has nothing to do with conscience.

Games in Alpha dude, graphics have a long way to go before they are completed and optimized.

I'm 6'5" and I'm fairly sure I could drop just over 3 times my height feet first and live, granted I might have to walk off the impact from landing but it's doable. However if I fell badly, ie, slipped from the window ledge or whatever, I'd expect to possibly break an ankle or a leg. Hopefully in future the damage model may reflect this but as of now, even dropping 10 feet kills you which, even for an Alpha, is pretty harsh.
