Make the old bandit skin a find-able item
JayMeHD replied to kloust!'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
+1 to this. I don't care what anybody says the old bandit skin looked amazing. It should be made as an ultra rare loot item. -
DayZ has been featured on many many different websites; PC Gamer being the most frequent poster of DayZ topics. It's great to see the mod getting the recognition it deserves. The downside is that a lot of people who start to play really do not realise that this isn't a finished product, and are expected a fully fledged game. This is partly due to reporters hyping this mod and forgetting to explain where it's actually at development wise.

Yeah, this was changed in 1.7.1.4. The damage was updated, meaning zombies could inflict more damage and had a much higher chance of knocking you out or breaking bones.

Spawn weapons on other players (DB hack?)
JayMeHD replied to WalkerDown (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This game relies heavily on scripts. All it takes is for a script to be written or edited to give playernameX a gun from the game library. Bypassing BattleEye is the tricky part, but BE is known not put up much of a fight in the form of hacking. Most cheaters are caught from looking at server logs to detect scripts that have ran. -
sneak....slow.....ahh f... rambo this shit
JayMeHD replied to Steven89's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Check out the 1.7.1.5 Hotfix announcement thread, you will see that the sensitivity of zombies has been addressed. http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=16925 -
Two things that I think would be cool

Which bug? Where you spawn in the sea? It hasn't be fixed recently in my knowledge, you could risk it. Check the bug report threads to see if anybody has reported it recently. If not, try it out, if you die, post a bug report.

FN FAL AN/PVS-4 night vision toggle?
JayMeHD replied to Calculon's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I have no idea off the top of my head but why not just look in the Controls option? I'm sure it will be listed there? -
Two things that I think would be cool
JayMeHD replied to Genki Dama's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This should be in the DayZ Suggestions section. Anyway, I think features like that will make the game far too easy. If you were planning on entering a town you would just kill a Z before entering, cover your body with guts and stroll through the town giving no fucks. Elements like these are too cliché and need to be kept in various zombie TV shows and movies; i don't think it would be good for gameplay. Also the flasks I think would be a little useless. First off you would have to heat up liquid to put inside it which would mean making a fire, but you could just make a fire to warm up anyway and not need a flask? Also, I think heatpacks are a good enough solution to the temperature dropping. -
1.7.1.4 still drops FPS like a bag of dirt
JayMeHD replied to thealgerian's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
"* [FIXED] Poor performance caused by infected search behavior (MAJOR performance increase during closed testing)" http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=16925 This should be fixed in 1.7.1.5. I'm running on an overclocked i5 2500K, 8GB RAM and an HD6970 2GB and drop to around 10fps or below when being chased/losing zombies. It's the updated AI that includes more checking; it looks like it will be streamlined for the next hotfix. -
Your thoughts on interior zombies?
JayMeHD replied to Shaimou's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think the zombies indoors is a valid element of realism (And by realism I mean the expected behaviour of zombies after seeing countless TV shows and movies); why would zombies not go into houses on their own? The issue with shooting one and aggro'ing the whole town is being addressed in 1.7.1.5, you can read the changelog here http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=16925 -
This is a suggestion for the forum and not the game. If there could be a "Find a Friend" section for finding a player who you were playing with but didn't have chance to exchange Steam, Skype or TS details; if you were killed or the server crashed and "lost" each other. People could start a thread stating who they were with (in-game name) and state where they were when they last had communication. Then if that other person thought "Oh shit, I didn't get that person's Skype or Steam" they can come on here and see if their comrade has posted. Then you could exchange details over PM's. Anybody think this is a good idea?
-
Yeah, those are all well and good but scrolling through each page of one single thread is a little tedious. I think a sub-forum would be a better approach.

Rocket, I'd just like to say thankyou for all the time and effort you have put into this mod to try and keep it playable for everybody, whilst trying to push the boundaries with new features. And thankyou for posting a hotfix, with HOTFIXES ONLY! ;) This looks like the first hotfix in a while that will be stable out-of-the-box seen as there are no new features. Thanks to you and the whole team! GG bro!

Ahhhh yes' date=' that's right, because this is your run-of-the-mill alpha release isn't it? 99% of games or mods are NEVER publicly released at Alpha stage, and the rest are luck if they are released as Beta. I'm not complaining that this mod is available to us to play when it shouldn't be, what I'm saying is this isn't your average alpha build(ing) is it? It therefore needs to be handled properly. [/quote'] that doesn't change the fact that it is a alpha does it? what did you expect in reply when making this thread? I expected exactly what has happened. People misunderstanding what I'm trying to say. I never said this Alpha is a piece of shit and I dont want to play it. I never said the work Rocket and the team are doing is lazy and stupid. I am merely voicing my opinion; which is that I believe the whole updating process needs a rethink. Hotfixes and updates flying out everyday that aren't doing what they're supposed to do isn't good. Why have the whole community getting pissed at major bugs when you can just privately release updates and test them before everybody plays them. In the mean time have a good stable alpha build (that lacks newer features but works almost flawlessly) available publicly. I don't see the downside to that approach?

Of course I do, but it's not just fixes that we're getting. It's more of a "Here's some fixes to all the bugs that you all hated, and here's some more features that will cause more bugs"

Hotfix Build 1.7.1.4 Rolling Update (was 1.7.1.3)
JayMeHD replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Massive FPS lag when being chased by Z's. My FPS was a constant 60+fps pre 1.7.1.4, now when I get chased I go down to 10FPS and below. -

http://youtu.be/jw6l0m5fVLE Video can explain it best, bug submission form below. Date/Time: 14/06/12 17:32 (GMT+1:00) What happened: When looking through binoculars whilst crouched if you move you crouch as a faster pace than if you didn't have your binoculars out. Where you were: On the hill to the South of Elektro power station (see video) What you were doing: Randomly looking through binoculars and moving to get a better view *Current installed version: 1.7 with latest Arma II beta (currently 80???) *Server(s) you were on: US60 (NY1) *Your system specs: Core i5 2500k OC'd to 4.3Ghz 8GB XMS3 RAM HD6970 2GB *Timeline of events before/after error: I looted Elektro power plant and headed out to the hill south. I already had binocs when I logged in (see video for full invent), headed up to the top of the hill and crouched to look across city with binocs. I was moving to get a better view whilst crouched and realised that the run speed was super-fast.

I posted my previous parody on here and it seemed to get a good response so here is another! (I had to make a new account due forum rollback?) This one doesn't have a video, took me around 20 minutes from conception to being on YouTube, and just for laughs of course! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXPtfp7vneY Enjoy! :) EDIT: Please by no means take this as a serious parody attempt lol
