This server is running an incorrect version of the server side application.
JayMeHD replied to Vipeax's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Thanks for the clear-up, can't wait for 1.7.2 -
The only reason I play on 3DP=1 servers is because first person on this game is shockingly bad. Trying to aim is ridiculous.

Server is running an incorrect version of the Server Side Application on every server
JayMeHD replied to andb52's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Either a DDOS or the new player tracking system being implemented, notice the path of the error is too many connections to the stats page. -
Good to see you're still monitoring this thread. Any approximate E.T.A yet?

Just remove the ability to place them inside a building, you can be tactically approaching a fire station for example and then you get inside and realise some server-hopping cunt has blocked off all access with a couple of wire fences and tank traps. At least if they could only be placed outside you could see from afar that X building is blocked off and you're going to need a toolbox.

First off, just to keep the insane fan-boys happy, I love this mod, I play it every day nearly (I've just finished college) and will continue playing. I have one issue that seems to now be happening, over the last few updates and hotfixes. The issue is that each hotfix is designed to fix major bugs with the patch that came before it, but the most recent have not been just that. Rocket (and the rest of the team?) please stop putting new "features" into hotfixes. Take more time working out new features and keep the hotfixes small and effective. For example - When 1.7.1.2 was released, the food spawns were bugged. Now, this bug made the game extremely harsh because you had more chance of finding good weapons and ammo than finding water or food. So, naturally I expected 1.7.1.3 (a hotfix) to fix this issue and any other issues that arose with that patch. I stopped playing because I had flashing icons and waited for a hotfix that I knew would come and fix the bugs so I could play again. But the hotfix didn't, you fixed the bugs and then added more features that would (and subsequently have) caused more game-breaking bugs. e.g. More complicated Zombie AI that causes MASSIVE lag when being chased. Concentrate on keeping the game stable, so people can play properly and release updates as and when they have been thoroughly tested, and release them as a "TEST BETA"; that way not everybody will rush to play it straight away, notify everybody that the patch is purely a test. We all realise the mod is Alpha, but it doesn't have an Alpha fanbase, everybody plays this game as if it was a full release; meaning servers and players update to every single patch that comes out before seeing how buggy they are. Better yet, have a collection of around 10 servers that receive the beta patches exclusively. Then allow people to join them and you will see better feedback, rather than releasing a buggy build to everybody and having everybody complaining about a millino things at once. tl;dr Slow down. Fix only bugs with hotfixes as and when needed, and major patches should be released further apart. You guys are doing great work and it is thoroughly impressive how quickly bugs are ironed out, but the rate at which bugs are created could be minimised. Please don't flame, I'm trying to be constructive with my criticism. EDIT: I KNOW IT IS A FUCKING ALPHA. Fuck, every time somebody tries to suggest something or make a criticism here people instantly jump down you throat shouting "ITS AN ALPHA DEAL WITH IT!" This isn't your average in-house alpha game testing. This is a frequently updated mod that is EXTREMELY popular. This isn't some shitty indie developer in his bedroom, who can just throw random bits of code in and see what comes out. The most recent updates have broken the game in many ways, lag, bugged loot, bugged zombies, bugged player detection, losing items the list goes on and on. And one can only assume that the sheer speed at which these updates are being released and unleashing bugs for everybody is due to "rushing" the coding and/or testing phase. FINAL EDIT FOR CLARITY - I am merely voicing my opinion; which is that I believe the whole updating process needs a rethink. Hotfixes and updates flying out everyday that aren't doing what they're supposed to do isn't good. Why have the whole community getting pissed at major bugs when you can just privately release updates and test them before everybody plays them. In the mean time have a good stable alpha build (that lacks newer features but works almost flawlessly) available publicly. I don't see the downside to that approach?

Only just noticed this post; you went into way more depth than I could and seem to be on the same page. Thanks for taking the time to write such an informative post.

Don't punish bandits; reward survivors

This couldn't be implemented effectively I don't think. This means there would have to be multiple loot tables for multiple levels of humanity, then what do you limit humanity to? Also you will get the horde of realism-hardcore players complaining about how this is far from realistic. It's a nice idea but I don't think it would fit well in-game. -
I spent two days searching for vehicles and eventually stumbled upon an ATV. I then spent another day searching for the parts that it needed. After repairing and getting it running I come down a hill and go over the railroad, I do a backflip and the ATV is lay on it's back. I decide to leave it there and hope for a server restart to flip it back over, a few hours later the server restarted so I went back and got it. Rode north and went over a bridge and it flipped again. Server restarted eventually, got on it, and it is currently stuck in some sort of invisible box on the bridge. I've decided to leave it and go on foot. *sigh*

So you stop and eat / drink every 30 minutes? Wow' date=' so that's how you can run for infinity? I think I'll go tell all the long distance runners in the world that all they need is a little food and drink and they can run forever! Pointless post is pointless. [/quote'] Lol, you seem to be the kind of player that is ruining the prosperity of this mod. How realistic do you want it? I bet 99% of the players couldn't sprint a mile IRL without needing a break, hell I bet 99% of the world couldn't sprint for a mile or two. Hmmmm running a mile in-game and then having to stop for five minutes for a break, yes that sounds extremely fun and enjoyable. If you want ultra-realism, you probably shouldn't be playing a ZOMBIE game.

Sounds like quite a good idea. I don't know how hard it would be to implement but yeah, like Copgun said above the meat would then be infected. Maybe infected animals behave differently? And then players must distinguish infected animals from normal ones or run the risk of eating infected meat. Sounds good to me, it may never happen but it's a good idea.

You can't thats why we have the food/water feature. Pointless thread is pointless.

Being Able to flip a ATV over when you flip it

I've been thinking about how to combat the disconnecting issue for a few days and I have come to a conclusion. First off, a default timer "Timer1" disconnect timer that is around 10 seconds. Secondly, a simple timer "Timer2" that initiates when you are hit by anything, be it a bullet or a Z. This timer could be set for a couple of minutes, after which you may log out. Finally, another timer "Timer3" that would govern smaller details and be set to around 30 seconds. Another few rules that could be implemented easily with this "timer" arrangement. No logging out whilst bleeding, "Timer2" starts when bleeding stops. This stops people getting hit by Z's, kiting a massive crowd, running into a building and then logging. Also stops people being shot by other players (rightly or wrongly) and running away to log out behind a bush. No logging out when zombies are within 50 metres, "Timer3" starts when you are far enough away. This will stop lots of people server hopping (wire fence kits fucking everywhere blocking of loot spots - if you do this you are a fucking cunt) - this will also benefit people if you see somebody in a town, you know you can approach without wondering if they are just going to log out anyway. I know these suggestions might sound a little harsh but there is no fool-proof way to stop people disconnecting in every single situation given, the team can only try and minimise the frequency of it happening. I used the "Timer" mechanic because I've spent the last 2 years programming in VB.net at college, but I'm sure there is an equivalent that can be used lol. Anybody like the idea of this?

Before I start this isn't a "somebody please link me or show me where vehicle spawns are" type of post, I have a brain I can Google maps quickly. The question is, after over 75 hours in-game I have yet to see a vehicle. I've not seen one spawned randomly, I haven't seen anybody driving them, I haven't found them hidden anywhere, what's wrong? I tend to do a fair amount of server hopping, laggy servers, timezone issues etc. so it's not as if I've been on one server that happens to have bugged vehicles. Are there specific servers that have vehicles enabled/disabled? Do the admins have power over whether vehicles spawn at all? Do some servers bug out and cannot have vehicles? Also, I have looked, believe me I've looked! So could anybody explain how the vehicle system works for servers and clients? EDIT: I just found two ATV's at the mountain between elektro and cherno! THE WAIT IS OVER!

Fuck you all with your fucking vehicles I hope you all crash and burn.

Do you mean repair broken ones? I haven't seen a repairable vehicle either.

That sounds like a good idea, I don't think we'll see it for a long time but yeah, sounds good.
