Just me or are people missing the point?
superkyle replied to CaptRandom (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
OP is smartest guy this forum has seen since I've started lurking. No one here seems to care that the game is basically broken as is down to the fundamental gameplay level if zombies aren't implemented, server hopping isnt fixed, combat logging isnt fixed, spawns arent fixed, ghosting isnt fixed, etc. There's tons of issues. Sure, it's an alpha. But are they really going to fix all those problems that were an issue even in the mod? IDK. -
I'm not playing DayZ anymore until combat loggers are forced to spawn away from the city they were at automatically to a pre-determined area around the city.

Oh i'm sorry, lets sacrifice the integrity of the ENTIRE GAME for people who lose connection. And the quick campfire would be a button, uninventoried, so you could always use it. it'd be the new defacto log out button. hell, it could be called the log out button by hitting escape. as it stands right now there is NO point in playing day z if it will have server hopping & combat logging in the final release. I'm not saying they aren't working on it, but I am saying that if it remains a problem this will be nicknamed HopZ as it defeats the entire purpose of collecting gear and surviving. in fact, the only way to actually play the game right now is KoS.

Why would anyone subject themselves to being taken hostage?
superkyle posted a topic in General Discussion
Any hostage can simply hit exit and disappear without any notice. Even if you put a timer, no one would know the timer's been started except the hostage, so as you're fiddling in your backpack for your handcuffs and whatnot he's already on the timer with 15 secs left..13...10..5...poof. Why even go through the trouble of implementing bags over ppl's heads, handcuffs, keys, force feeding, etc. when none of it matters because anyone with a brain can just vanish in an instant? There really should be a better system for exitting the game that also lets people KNOW you're trying to leave. a simple timer will not fix this game. -
not really a flaw, stops a gamey gimmick. Hell, what about logging to escape zombies? people did it all the time. now you have to at least not be chased in order to log out. I log all the time because I have the ability to do. take away my ability and now I have to be more reasonable. I cant just run around in the street, get 10 zombie aggro, and leave and no consequences. Do you want a realistic zombie game or War Z?

Every player starts with a kit to make a small campfire (different from regular campfire) you can't cook with this campfire, but both campfires allow you to log out. Otherwise you cannot exit the game until you have your small campfire or regular campfire up. Any player can log out next to a lit campfire. When you light a campfire, it makes a fireplace sound so everyone knows you're attempting to log out. Then have a 30 second timer. So, you're in a firefight in a city. you corner a guy into a house. you hear the campfire lit. now you know he's either faking it or logging out within 30 seconds. otherwise you don't have to push the envelope and you know he's still in there. Tada. As for server hopping just make it to where if they log out they spawn outside the city in a ring like other posters have suggested. This also prevents ghosting so people can't spawn in behind a cleared building and surprise you thus ruining any tactical advantage a group has in clearing an area. The only hiccup to this small fire is how do you get it back in your inventory if you log out and appear away from the campfire? I'm sure a developer could get around this in a number of ways, but one of them would be to have it as a button in game that doesn't even take up any spaces for a lighter/wood and just automatically is the defacto "log out" button.

Would this simultaneously fix Server Hopping and Ghosting?
superkyle replied to ZedsDeadBaby's topic in General Discussion
I absolutely LOVE this idea. PLEASE devs at least consider this. The inconvenience it might cause severely aids in ghosting, server hopping and combat logging. So a team cant lock down a city (at least on the outskirts), big deal, it aids in everything else. -
Server Hopping/Combat logging-How it ruins the Dayz experience
superkyle replied to Hero of Suburbia's topic in General Discussion
server hopping and combat logging pretty much ruins the whole "Survival" aspect of the game which is the main selling point of the game. I was under the impression that the reason for the delays for the standalone was to find a fix for this within the server structure of the game. Guess I was wrong. To me, fixing those 2 should be the utmost priority of the development team over ALL other "fixes", because it basically ruins the entire point of the game. Why search for 8 hours to gear up when you can gear up in 30 mins? Why lose everything you got in 30 minutes when you can just exit if you're losing a firefight? -
thanks man =] I happen to be a AB+ bandit too, so I will steal blood from all people I get the jump on until this character dies lol

you can steal their blood from them, which is more valuable. =] blood trafficking ftw
