  1. It all depends on Rocket's intent. Does he intend for players to sprint and train 15 zombies through town, losing them in a warehouse to search around? Does he intend to have the zombies so tough that everyone needs to crawl everywhere. Or does he intend a mix of the various situations - say 15% crawling, 25% crouch walk, 50% crouch jog, and 10% zombie train for those "oh crap" moments? What would be the best experience? A variety of styles mixed together, or a dominance of one particular method of movement? I think the answer is clear; a mix of movement methods is desirable (what the breakdown should be would be a bit more subjective). The next step is to figure out what mechanics create the desired game play outcome. I still think tougher zombies with the 1.7.0 aggro ranges. How can they be tougher to elicit more fear and higher danger with the lesser aggro? I propose the following: 1. Tougher zombies - Headshots are just as lethal, but increase the shots necessary for the body to bring them down by one or two (one shot pistols anywhere with 1911 is too easy). The zombies can be more formidable, and it can still fit within the scenario; Just as a druggie hyped up on PCP or Bath Salts can take more body damage due to adrenaline, so can these infected. A head shot incapacitates no matter what. 2. Increase Striking Damage - The increased bleed chance is good, but a zombie whack is still relatively harmless. Up it a tad more to make mistakes a little less forgiving. Playing with these two mechanics can probably find that balance while restoring the fun of moving around town.
  2. Well, I doubt the end playstyle result was intended. The current zombie state, although somewhat buggy, is probably intended - but the resulting gameplay was not forseen. I hope Rocket realizes the change in focus and dynamic in the game and does something to address this. This is an Alpha, and features are being figured out as we go here, so it's understandable when certain builds / ideas don't implement as was initially thought.
  3. I agree. I just posted a similar topic. It's not really harder, it's just more tedius and boring. You can't crouch walk or crouch job in a town. Takes forever to loot a town. Damn, I love the game, but I feel like playing less and less.
  4. My FPS is also way down since 1.7.0 was patched to 1.7.1 and forward.

should they roll back the update?

It's not functioning as intended. The spawn rate is broken. If you think it is good right now you are retarded. Don't roll back, but fix the spawn rate. Only then can we decide if these changes suck or are good.

    3D models to contribute

These need to be used. 1.7.1 would have been much better just to add the new double barrel shotgun and these models. Where is the other thread with these other models? I can't seem to find it.

My Issues with the 1.7.1 Changes

This release does suck. Zombie behavior is erratic and buggy. They have a spider sense to spot you and it requires to crawl all the time to avoid being detected. If you shoot at one because of aggro, expect the entire town to come down on you - and once you kill them. Expect another 20 to have spawned right away again. This is especially evident at tree stands. Yes, it is better to have a bit of fear of zombies again - but this is not the right mechanism for it. The numbers seem pumped, the respawn in instant and bullshit, and their vision is way too good. Pumped number OK. Some better vision, like one bar when crawling is totally understandable. But three bars when crouch walking, and five when crouch walking across a road is ridonkulous.

    Build 1.7.1 Rolling Update

Rickenwing. Do I just need to put the dayz.pbo and key in the addons folder? or is there more to it?

You were kicked from the game....

I am running the latest beta. 825. What do you mean the servers are trolling? There are a few that say they have 1.7.1 with the 825 beta but they kick. We still waiting for them to update for 1.7.1? Hell, can't get into any servers.

    Map shouldn't be zoomable.

Two maps would be cool. A cheesy gas station road map. Get you to the main roads and towns. Then you could find the current topographical map that shows elevation and grid coordinates, power lines, buildings in towns, etc. Yeah, that does sound like a good idea. Plus 1 that if you like.

    Map shouldn't be zoomable.

Real maps are as detailed or more detailed. All it this is doing is simulating taking a close look like you would in real life.

How about having a tip video ready to go for your announcement.
  13. Since some people are saying this is a simulator. I should spawn in with 3 pistols, 4 AR-15 variants, an 870, and a Remington 700... Sometimes you boobs just need to consider a bit of gameplay mechanics here.
  14. IT ALL DEPENDS UPON THE NEW MECHANIC OF BEING ABLE TO HIDE FROM AGGRO'd ZOMBIES. If that mechanic is half assed than this concept would fail. If it works and is cool, then this idea has legs.

Low humanity --> gun on respawn

Yes. I like the idea because usually bandits are experienced and can handle the more difficult spawn. Most players will want a gun on spawn so they will think about totally random killing before doing it. Also, it is very subtle and a temporary problem starting out that doesn't permanently cripple.
  16. Rocket, is this per character life or the overall humanity measurement?

With your display of indecision I have come to the conclusion that you should not get it. You don't have the balls to survive in DayZ.
