US 144 - Server restart without warning

Removing the admin global chat would be absolutely stupid.

    Dayz - US194 Admin Abuse

Explain the force restart and last saved location. Isn't it always sending data to the hive to save the location?

    Some feature ideas requesting feedback

This would be a good way to stop server hopping into the barracks for people who farm. I think it is a cool idea for the farming type, but there are probably better things to spend the resources on.
  4. Some of the zombies end up frozen in place and then they don't despawn when players leave the area. This is leading to high numbers of zombies in the servers. Needs a fix or everything will bog down shortly.

    DayZ Steam Icon

I setup my DayZ to launch from Steam but it has the standard Arma 2 OA icon. I tried to get a DayZ icon I found to display but can't figure out how to get it into the right format. Does anybody have a DayZ steam icon that they can upload (one that is ready for steam to accept without conversion)?

    Hackers On US23

No, we found L85 thermal at a crash site. And no we don't have "extras" because nobody liked the SVD so nobody carried it. It's that simple. Rarity doesn't equal utility necessarily. Secondly, we did use the L85 before but the zoom is very high and the knockdown power of the round is very low at range so our snipers prefer the .50 cals. We never said we found an L85 at the barracks. So where do you get the idea that we said we found an L85 at the barracks. Review this thread and you will see nobody said it, but you have lied once again to smear us. You accused us of spawning an SVD, and I addressed that accusation by informing you it spawned in the barracks (you actually thought it was impossible to have in the first place - the more you type, the stupider you look). Is that such a far fetched idea to you? Have the admin look into the logs. You'll only end up with egg on your face. The more you nit pick ton justify your outrage at losing vehicles, the more you look foolish. Have the admin check the ID number on the weapons. Have them check for scripts. I invite it if it will shut your ridiculous trap and let your butt hurtness heal. And dude, 500+ hours AT the barracks? Your exaggerations only reveal that you are full of shit and lie to attempt to smear other players because you think they might be hacking because you can't wrap your thin skull around the concept that it's possible that someone found your camp spot on the top of the hill at the NW corner - a stupid spot for a camp might I add. Also, just because you have never found one of these weapons doesn't mean nobody else has. As far as the "rare" weapons in the trucks... those were the weapons that were in the trucks when we stole them from you! What the hell does that say about you if you think they were duped. Are you mental or just a pathological liar that believes the shit you shovel? When no evidence is found to support your accusations, I would expect you to act like a man and come back to this thread and apologize to myself, and my buddies. If not, it just further reveals your lack of maturity and your false sense of righteous indignation. Oh, and before I forget. When we stole your trucks we found four M4 CCO SD camoflague rifles in there. Wow, those are pretty rare. Why would they be in your truck and not on your person? Sounds to me like these were "extras" and you were duping them. When we snagged your VS3, it has two M4 Holo SDs which are just as rare as the SVD. Were these your "extras" as well that you had duped? I think so. The trucks had one copy of every other gun in there - just in case you wanted to dupe a copy of a specific weapon. You guys are dirty as the day is long, and you have the balls to come here with a load of malarcky aimed at us because you are upset that we found your camp twice (which was in the same spot within a week apart - absolutely genius). What you seem to be doing is accusing us of the things that you are doing. It's a guilt defense mechanism called projecting. Google it if you don't know what the hell it is. And check your own self before accusing others of false activity.

We found it spawned in the NW airfield. It's not hacked. http://dayzwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=SVD_CAMO That is the link to the weapon in the DayZ Wiki loot table for the SVD. You have no idea what you are talking about. Stop trying to stir up something that isn't there with us. :dodgy: Good freakin' god...

    Hackers On US23

It was our vehicle depot on the SW of the map. We originally found a camp up at the NW in the trees just below the hilltop. That was when we got out with a truck and a uaz. That was when BigSarg was back trying to get another vehicle when he was discovered there and killed. By the time we got coordinated and went back the vehicles were moved, a red car was left wrecked, and tents nearly all empty. Some time later we had one of our guys locate (randomly spotted them as he went by) a dirtbike and the VS3 south of Guglovo (i think - anyway it was somewhere in the center of the map) which he had to repair both in order to recover them. A few days later we were scouting the NW in search of any camps when we saw someone driving the white offroad pickup. We initially lost contact with it, but me and one on a dirt bike continued to scout and decided to check the old location (we wanted to recover the red car that was left behind but it was gone as well). One last hunch to check the top of the hill for any camp because we knew that white truck couldn't have been going up that dead end road without a purpose. Sure enough, we located two guys with the British Offroad, two ATVs, and the white Helix and a bicycle. One of the guys D/C'd when wounded - I ASSUME that was you or one of your crew (a tad ironic after you decried other clans for D/C'ing on you). The guy in the ghillie suit hung around watching us while we held security for the remainder of our team to get the UAZ up the hill. We had just enough crew to take one person for each vehicle and boogie them out to our SW vehicle depot that you eventually discovered. We had quite the laugh that the two guys up there didn't throw themselves into combat between us and their vehicles but instead decided to protect themselves by hiding and disconnecting. And that is the entire story of how we got our vehicles. Oh, we found the bus west of Zelenegorsk but didn't use it much. We gave one of our member's son (young kid) the bus to use as his own, which you had shot up and left behind. Him and his dad repaired it and have since moved it, but it was the city bus - not the blue van bus. As far as the group split, it was was due to someone with a known association with a second group that we refused to merge with despite repeated requrests. The healthy assumption was that the dual loyalty and schism over the non-merger was enough of a motivation to divulge or vehicle depot location. Understandable I think you would agree. Anyways, once you nailed our vehicle depot in the SW we did not recover any other vehicles and have been playing on another server since. If someone is locating scattered vehicles rapidly after repeatedly moving them, I would suggest moving servers if you believe it to be because of a hacker. But it isn't myself, BigSarg, or Pusher. As far as any vehicle thefts happening over the last two weeks, I listed our raids above. Anything else is non of our doing. I will add, however, that if you are leaving vehicles scattered about the map people are probably just bumping into them as they traverse from point of interest to point of interest. I'm surprised you haven't figured out that most of this ground is traveled at some point by the numerous players that are on and off the server throughout the day. Oh, and about the offer to link up on steam to "straighten this out"... I don't think there is anything to talk about as I narrated the facts to you as they happened. There is nothing else I could tell you to make you feel better.

Hey Specsniper, I'm rolling with with some of the guys you accused of hacking to steal your vehicles. It's just not the case. We routinely look on the edges of the map to find camps and vehicles, and we stole some from a camp a couple weeks ago at the NW edge of the map. Then just a few days ago we found another set of vehicles with two guys at them. I assume you were the two guys with two ATVs, a white truck, and the British Offroad at the NW edge of the map? Well, we were driving and saw the white offroad in the area so we then recon'd the area until we stumbled upon you where we stole all the vehicles. But guess what? Someone found our vehicle depot (you guys) and stole the vehicles back. Fair play. But the funny thing is, someone ELSE stole them from you - not us. So there was no warping across the map or hacking. You were spotted by some other group bro. We have absolutely no vehicles right now. And also, you grouped players together who do not play together. We don't play with Lemondish, Kyle, or LMM. Hell, we disbanded half our group because we believed someone gave our spot away allowing the vehicles to be stolen. Reading this thread it looks like we were wrong on that. By the way, when you stole all of our vehicles we weren't online and only discovered the next day. At that time we were transitioning to another server anyways because we are suspicious of bugged loot spawns on US23 - so we had been playing somewhere else mostly. Ease back on the paranoia partner.

    Pending Update: Build 1.7.2

Yeah, waiting to show it off at Rezzed. The mod will continue to move towards a true development approach and away from such a communicative public alpha. The revenue potential is too great to avoid it.
  11. Thought this was supposed to be some type of plot or story / edited video... not just commentary.

So how do tents work exactly now?

How does this work exactly? When my gear menu is open I can't walk (if I recall correctly) and hitting deploy tent is not something that I can spam.
  13. Since the recovery from the abysmal 1.7.1 patch, far more internal testing is going into subsequent patches. Also, there seems to be less communication about the status of the upcoming patches (change log aside). Is it possible that the success of DayZ and it's relation to Arma II sales has made BI change the way Rocket does things? A bad patch for DayZ now has the potential to ruin the reputation for the game and cost BI real dollars. Discuss.

    Rocket Disciplined for 1.7.1

It's like this release has to be mega polished to avoid bad PR. I understand it. Nobody wants something like 1.7.1 to happen again. Just curious.

    Pending Update: Build 1.7.2

Not a good idea rocket. I think a trip flare trap would be a better idea. Hit the trap, launch an M203 flare up as a warning device. Ditch the bear trap bro.

Compass - degree numbers to small

There are nice aftermarket compass mods that make it nice and high resolution. Can't use them in DayZ but it should be very simple for Rocket to add it. He should.
  17. I really liked DayZ until the new zombie AI came out. I thought the stealth was a perfect balance for detection range, etc. during 1.7.0. I'm good at this game as well, and with the new whacky zombies I can still get into town and get out with loot, so failing isn't the problem. The problem is the balance of movement while around zombies. It is dominated by prone crawling more than anything. Crouch walk is even a massive risk, and forget about crouch jogging as before. It's just not all that fun to be honest. Yes, there is more fear of the zombies now and more care must be taken - but that doesn't improve the game by making them difficult in this manner. I think the 1.7.0 stealth was fine, but find a different way to make the zombies feared instead of this new AI - which frankly, Arma AI is terrible and trying to make the zombies smart isn't working well. If you want zombies to be a real obstacle to be feared, make it so they do more damage when you make a mistake during stealth. Make it so one zombie howls, and calls the others nearby or something. As is, you have to just belly your way through which is just boring. Even still, you go to crouch to loot something and a zombie 20 yards away will aggro, or you will crawl through a door and your character stands up - again causing aggro. It's just a less engaging experience. Just wanted to get my opinion out there.

    Zombie mocap ??

Some feedback on the mocap: The animation is spastic and the zombies heads are hard to hit because of the motion. It's a bit too wild.

    Hotfix Build 1.7.1.5 Rolling Update

50% audio reduction through walls is a good idea. Would make the detection more authentic feeling. It's definitely worth a test patch.
  20. mtuckner

    Bought this game today.

This new patch has some stuff with probably unintended gameplay consequences. It's a wait and see situation for now to see what Rocket plans on doing about the future direction of zombie behavior.

    Is it just me...

An intended change to make zombies more formidable.
  22. What is dull and tedius is the gameplay required to sneak around the zombies. Crawling everywhere is just that. The other option is to not give a crap and just train the zombies behind and LOS them. Those two options provide no variety. Can you not understand this? And greasy mullet, I'm not mad because I bought Arma 2 years ago. I like the game in general and I have gotten my money's worth. This mod is just gravy on the biscuit.
  23. mtuckner

    Do people even crawl?

Why the hell would you make a game where you have five speeds of movement with different visibility levels, but only one works around zombies. Are you dull, or just dimwitted? What is the fun of simply crawling through all the towns? I'm tired of these people who think they are "tough" by tolerating tedium. Do you feel inadequate in real life and feel the need to present a bad boy image online? What gives?
  24. These zombies aren't difficult. They make the gameplay dull and tedius. Shall we make it require you to wait until nighttime to move - that way zombies can't see you as well. Man, that would be difficult - but would it be fun?
