My teammate and I were banned from this server today. [bTL]SuperTuck and [bTL]BigSarg. Not sure why this was enacted, but I would like to appeal this decision and hear the reasoning.
-
Resolved. Was a temporary ban to attempt to figure out who was hacking. Everyone has been reinstated.

Starter Skins - Experienced Survivor and Noob Skin (mechanic explanation included!)
mtuckner replied to mtuckner's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Bump because drowned by loads of repeat suggestions. -
Starter Skins - Experienced Survivor and Noob Skin (mechanic explanation included!)
mtuckner replied to mtuckner's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I believe the forum is already polluted with those threads. What does that have to do with how the game might or might not benefit? If you are going to try to simply avoid a vocal minorities redundant posts by not implementing ideas in this alpha we will be left without innovation. The only complaint you posted that I think might be a relevant concern is "turning off nooby target skins" but I don't believe they would signify that and I have elaborated on my reason why in my original post. The only way to find out the result would be to try the idea. -
Starter Skins - Experienced Survivor and Noob Skin (mechanic explanation included!)
mtuckner replied to mtuckner's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
This is not a suggestion thread for a bandit skin. There are umpteen numbers of those threads. The topic is a variation on spawn skins for a totally new player to Day Z, and players who have been around the block. Please keep it on topic in order to make sure this particular idea gets a proper vetting (especially if you like the idea - if you off topic it the idea gets lost in other malarky). -
Private Server with own DB and not connected to HIVE allowed?
mtuckner replied to [email protected]'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Nobody can stop you. Go ahead. If you have the ability to setup your own private hive server then feel free. -
The easiest way is to check the name as said, and confirm by hopping in. If you are on the beach it's a private server.
-
If they aren't connected to the hive (which is probably what private means) then you go find another server. Pretty simple. If they are hooked to the hive then they ought to be blacklisted.

Banning for pvp-disconnect disallowed?
mtuckner replied to vendaar's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
The devs are aware of the problems so we don't need to "test" these disconnecting exploits anymore. Ban them. -
Taking away even more access to our servers?
mtuckner replied to Soujyo's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
You are a fool if you don't think he, or BI, care. They most definitely do. Perhaps early on he didn't care as it was still an experimental idea. Now it is going to become a standalone product. They certainly don't want to destroy the name brand now. -
Vilayer is continually dropping the ball. They continue to fail to complete the migration and whitelist the new server despite repeated assurance that it was accomplished. Apologies.
-
Everything was legit. Just another unjust accusation against a helpful admin. These are usually perpetuated by people with only the most basic understanding of the game and have no internal locus of control.
-
No reason to post. Can't ban it, reporting it does nothing. Just go to a private hive server and enjoy a better experience.

US 27 Chicago 21 is going offline.
mtuckner replied to WildGunsTomcat's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
US193 is going down as well. We are playing on a private hive with an active admin who bans for DC'ers and hacking. Not surprisingly, after more than six seperate contacts, including one that was 3 vs 5, I have not witnessed a single disconnect because everyone knows the result. The admins are fair and active, as well as available on their TS for any issues immediately. Tom foolery is not allowed and legitimate players are loving it. Once the details are worked out BTL is planning on launching a new dedicated on a private hive as well. -
Taking away even more access to our servers?
mtuckner replied to Soujyo's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Straight script hacks are better taken care of by battle eye, I acknowledge that. However, DC'ers and exploiters are not handled by that, and yes, there are hacks that are not caught by battleye including various ESP hacks that are not script related (that battleye does not pick up). When a hacker begins to blow up your server, you want immediate action - not a three week wait for a battle eye update. We want to provide a solid place to game that people can make their home and good administration is a part of that. Either way, we'll ban dupers, exploiters, DC'ers, and ghosters anyways. The mere threat of that will keep multitudes of players in line if it was DayZ wide. Losing access to your favorite server is a powerful incentive to play by the book. This mentality of letting exploits go unfettered without recourse for legitimate players is mind boggling. Just to avoid the occassional accidental ban which can be appealed or they could choose from 3000 other servers. The people who are crying foul about letting admins police their server are the very ones taking advantage of every exploit possible and dont' want to face any consequences. I know this is a mod of Arma 2, and that Arma 2 uses BattleEye. What you don't understand is that as long as Arma 2 has been around BattleEye has been utterly crap and the server admins have held the hordes of script hacks and abusive players at bay. I've been playing this series since OFP so I am well aware of how this works. It is you who I think is lacking a complete understanding of the flaws within the engine that make proper administration important. -
Taking away even more access to our servers?
mtuckner replied to Soujyo's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Admin abuse is blown out of proportion and highly exaggerated. What isn't is the bane of the game - disconnecting to avoid death and ghosting (and to a more severe degree but less frequency - hacking). By removing any threat of repercussions for doing this it is becoming the norm not the exception. DayZ staff do not have the resources to review and investigate every case of hacking or exploiting - so why the holy hell are they trying to do it. There is an amazing resource of mature and adult admins who are wanting and willing to host a clean server that goes by the rulebook - a desire that benefits the entire community. By not taking advantage of that they are making a massive managerial faux pas. They are doing this because of a few bad apples that have been shouted on and on about as if shitty admins reign supreme, but that isn't the case. What they are doing is simply the inverse of what they are wanting to accomplish. They want to avoid admins banning someone unjustly, but instead they go around and let exploiters unjustly manipulate and ruin the gameplay for thousands of others while castigating admins for trying to perform a normal and classic function since time immemorial with respect to gaming. It would be one thing if they had robust gameplay mechanics to stop the exploiting, and I continue to hear about the technical solution being so easy. If it is just a matter of coming up with a punishment mechanic then begin to experiment with each patch and get feedback. Instead DayZ devs are sitting on their hands as a problem eats at the very core of the experience while shatting upon the folks paying for the real estate to promote and play the mod. Very few admins and server hosts want to ban anybody for those are the very folks who populate and make their server a place to play. DayZ can't even respond to blacklisting the locked servers, how can they ask admins to submit a support ticket to take action on a duper, ghoster, dc'er, or hacker. We all know nothing will ever happen with those tickets. Frankly, the server that I co-admin and that our group pays for will probably not be renewed. We will be shutting down our server on Friday, the 20th in protest along with a number of other servers as recommended by jskibo. I hope more admins jump on board with this to help raise awareness of the schism being formed between the admins, developers, and players. ... and if a solution is forthcoming - or at least the experimentation thereof - a communique would be more than welcomed, but preferably a dialogue like has been done in the past. -
How the hell is this admin abuse? I'm tired of you incompetent players who can't tell legitimate play from hacking and exploiting versus admin abuse. People like this are creating an adversarial environment between players and admins (who are forking over money to allow you a place to play). Furthermore, the incompetent staff at DayZ are taking reports like these and taking restrictive action over servers above and beyond what is useful to prevent admin abuse. The real abuse is people abusing this forum to air every last gripe with paranoia filled complaints from people who can't comprehend the possibility that their camp was discovered by random chance or someone hacked. Admins don't have the power to locate your camp, and it's not a "server map message" it's just a map marker you dimwit. Anyone can place one down.

Taking away even more access to our servers?

Access to change the MOTD means they want to cheat? You are retarded. I would never pay for a service where a support ticket is needed to change the MOTD. -
Staff: Need clarification on ban-able offenses
mtuckner replied to walkerbait421's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
It's silly to be overly concerned about a couple innocent players being banned on occasion when there is an epidemic of the problem going on. Simply by stating that nobody can be banned for exploiting is opening the flood gates. It is condoning the behavior and it will only get worse. Just the possibility of being banned from your favorite server is enough to keep many people from doing it. This is a terrible case of mismanagement on the part of DayZ and it needs to be reconsidered. -
You are probably still waiting to be whitelisted. It took ours a while - we ended up contacting them and they then pushed it through in like 4 hours. If we didn't get in touch (which is impossibly hard with their crap service) it may have taken much longer. In the ACP do you have a instance ID and country code yet?

Staff: Need clarification on ban-able offenses
mtuckner replied to walkerbait421's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Too many players are exploiting - that is ruining things more than an admin trying to police his server. Without a fix on the horizon there needs to be some method to address these problems in game. -
Logged in and my inventory changed from when I last logged out. I had two bizon mags disappear only to be replaced by one jerry can. It was wierd. Another clan mate had experienced something similar. He logged in yesterday morning and his pack was full of tin cans.
-
Would be nice to know something conclusive on this. As a server admin, I have seen this message a few times. I don't know if the killer was a hacker, the killed, or this was an exploit killing in debug forest. Any official word?

Steep learning curve. Keep trying, watch starter videos on youtube and keep learning. Avoid the cities, and find barns. Use a Dayz loot map online. Best of luck.

US193 MrWinkie's Merry Men Server Thread
mtuckner replied to jskibo's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
jskibo, we are both on Vilayer for our hosts, and we are both US193 (we are BTL). What's up with that? We have such a hard time contacting support, have you inquired about this?
