Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
Nuclear194 replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
In my opinion, the infected should be extremly dangerous and not just some annoyance you have to deal with while you farm for gear (which is the case in some other games). Smaller melee weapons would be useless against a frenzied infected person throwing himself at you, and should only be used as a last resort or defense against other players early in the game. Bigger melee weapons on the other hand, like the axe or pick axe, should down an infected in a hit or two, provided you time the swing right. I would like to see a system where timing is eveything; if an infected is charging you, you need to raise the axe and time the swing or else he will be all over you. In that scenario, one infected wouldn't be that dangerous after some practice, while 4-5 infected at once would be almost impossible to defeat as they grab you from behind or throw you to the ground. That would be cool, and realistic, I think. -
When did this happen and on which server? A couple of days ago I spawned near Cherno and immidietly found a landmine. Was about to log off so I rushed to the police station and planted it just were you said you died. Played on an european server. Sorry if it was me who killed you, just wanted to try it out. :P

I'm sure the sprinting will be fixed when the game is close to finished, and I really hope for a realistic implementation of the system. I imagine that when you jog/run, you should be able to move and strafe kinda freely because of the low speeds, just like real life. It's not hard to take a quick step to the left when you're joging at a low pace. When you sprint in real life, you have high momentum forward and you turn by kinda leaning to one side. I hope that when you sprint in game, a mouse movement makes your character lean to that side, and you slowly start to turn. This would make chases through wooded areas really exciting as the player who controls his character the best would make it through the forest the quickest. Same goes for towns I suppose, it should require skill and timing with the jump key to make a quick getaway. When the stamina system comes I hope you need to time your sprinting to get away from zombies. A zombie should be faster than you when you jog/run, not much maybe, but a bit faster. Eventually the zombie would catch you (and hopefully be able to grab you in some way) if you don't turn a corner or a tree and quickly sprint out of sight from it. But you have to careful as you can't sprint forever. The zombies will never be truly dangerous if you can run away from them as easily as you can now. Also, I hope your stamina increases with how well fed you are. This should be a hidden stat, but you should be able to tell that your starving character can't sprint (or even jog?) as long as a healthy character.

But they're not dead. Rocket said they are infected people, like in 28 Days/Weeks Later. Still living, but with a rabies-like virus making them insane. And I agree, the melee system needs some work. Sometimes it's really hard to hit with them, especially if you're moving, and there's barely any indication when you do except for a tiny "bump" noice. You swing your weapon in an arc, so you shouldn't have to aim that tiny dot precisely at the zombies head to land a hit. I really like that you can knock zombies and people out though, but sometimes you have to hit a player twenty times with a bat before they fall unconscious. Overall I like the new melee system but it needs some work. Oh, and I hope they change the sound effects when you hit a wall or something with a melee weapon! I almost shit my pants when I hit a tree and it sounds like someone's shooting at me. :P

Well, if the hostage is struggling with the handcuffs you should tell him to stop, and perhaps hit him once or twice. If he continue struggling you should shot him. That's how it's supposed to work, as a captor you must watch your hostage so he doesn't try to escape, and if he does you must punish him for it. It could lead to interesting situations where the hostage struggles when you have your back turned/are not looking etc. But I do agree that they should take a longer time to get out off, and also fix the bugs where the keys don't work, you can't stand up or the handcuff animation keeps glitching etc. Once I handcuffed my friend as a joke, and he tried getting them off for what seemed like 10 minutes before I had to kill him. :(
