Things I've learned from 4 hours in this game.
mySoup117 replied to PiLLZ's topic in New Player Discussion
Always good to see new player. Warmest greetings! Just one thing: if someone says he/she is friendly, do ask him/her to lower(put down) the weapon, or things can get ugly really fast. -
Like piru suggested, until the server restarts. A reminder: people get cautious to remove their track, so they may close the gate of the house, so be aware of the doors of the rooms, they are also shut if no one have left them open.

Stalking requires great skills, indeed. Looks like you have been enjoy being a "STALKER". I sort of don't like stalking, not because it's not good to sacrifice your own objective, but for the danger stalking brings. I figured the biggest enemy when stalking is zombies, you may be detected from distance away, and your plan is pretty much ruined if the player being stalked is at least cautious.

1. All servers use the universal map, and you may find it online. In terms of in-game maps, try gas stations by road, they usually have small shop-like houses that you have a high chance to find maps (fragments, not complete). 2. The night/day cycles are like the real ones, 24 hours. A small hint for you: if you want to play in daytime, when searching servers, under the "Map & Version" tag, find those shown "Dayz_auto" (remember, Dayz instead of DayZ, the cap Z means night time) 3. Axes- one hit kill. You can punch zombies till death, it may take some time. Keep hitting the face will prevent it from standing up and hurting you 4. Morphine for broken leg. Try combine wooden sticks + rags/bandages, you then have splints, use them for broken legs (I assume they support your legs) 5. It's okay to switch servers, just don't "server hoping" intentionally (you knew the definition already). So feel free to switch, it's legal and proper (not including server hoping) So far, max population is 40, but they are working on larger servers.

Not everyone plays at the same time, there is time difference for different regions on Earth and there is a group of people called "the students" (me, to be specific). And BTW, Steam only.

Best way to lose PLAYERS that are chasing you?
mySoup117 replied to marsmars's topic in New Player Discussion
Ok, this requires some skills (apparently I don't, so 9/10 I used this technique failed, if it works, GODLIKE!!!) put away anything in your hands, have bare fists. (they/he/she is now approaching) - when doing this, be sure to find an angel that you don't get shot easily raise your fists once (Space bar), then put them down - you sprint faster, not so sure how much, but you do get faster. since they/he/she have/has a weapon in hands, they are slower than you, no doubt Flank them/him/her using buildings/trees/bushes and ready to engage fast - make sure they/he/she lose/loses sight of you for a short while (even 1 second is enough) change to 1st person, sprint toward them/him/her - still, make sure this is at a surprising angel and speed, so go Z- or S- sprinting instead of straight line. use your fists, punch the one with a gun (yes, with a gun, or melee weapon that WILL KILL YOU REALLY FAST) ON THE FACE (that's why 1st person) - you only have one chance, and you may fail, but have some faith) If you made it, you would knock him/her down - stay calm, one more step then you are legendary check his/her backpack, and double-click the weapon (faster than dragging, make sure you have space) (usually in the top "equipped" section) and ammo (if possible) into your inventory - you are almost there *if the situation is not so harsh - no enemy (the guy's teammate) trying to kill you, no zombie, then loot him/her more for ammo, medicine or food. GET THE HELL OUT OF THERE, find a place to bandage/check what you've got Now if you are playing safe (which I don't think so since you just did that), log out or go away (trust me, that guy won't have the guts to chase you anymore) If you want to be a legend, take up his/her weapon, and chase him/her down. P.S. very low rate of success, extremely dangerous when enemy has teammate and you don't (if you do, it gets easier since both/all of you are doing so), and, WILL MAKE YOUR DAY and RUIN HIS/HERS LOL -
Best part of the post...other people buying the game for you...

To find guns, there are two ways: one is go to particular locations like military base (north of Kamenka, Southeast of Vybor), airfields/airstrips (NW, NE, Balota); the other way is more depending on luck, that is barns and civilian buildings where you may find Mosin and Magnum. I don't recommend server hopping, but it is totally legal and profitable. Server hopping is constantly (like every 5-10 minutes) switching servers at Balota/military buildings/high looting points so that you don't need to walk and find gears with the risk (and precious experience) of encountering other players. (Bandits, badasses; Heroes, shiny shiny guys; Normal fun players (like me), fun, blood and sweat.)

It will be a true action of hero... not many people can trace their lives everyday, neither can I. Like you said, school is starting in like nine or ten hours, Dayz will thus become a weekend special to me. Good luck to you! Oh, and have some beans.

I suggest you to read carefully and observe carefully, especially to the greens/deep greens/light greens, you will find the difference between open ground and woods and concentrated woods. Try to match the shape of the woods v. open on the map and since you have been wandering for a long time, be creative, you might be at South already (this happened to my friend once). P.S. never estimate how far (in length) have you walked/jogged/sprinted, always use landmarks.

I am pretty sure that a descent amount of people (including me) has experienced such ...alpha-like accident. No worries. P.S. sometimes joining in an official (like those start with US, GB, better be the country you are in) server recovers your wiped character, I did get mine back once, and I would not tell you.

Thanks for the beans. I read a few posts before joining the game and one of them said that vitamins keeps you healthy. I figured this reasonable (after the immediate apocalypse shock wave, the most valuable thing other than medicine, shelters, food and water is probably vitamins, keeps one away from many ancient disease, like Scurvy) Last two movies of Matrix, I liked the special effects, the fighting and all other fancy stuff, but never fully understood the storyline, it got more and more complicated. Since the Reloaded, I chose not to bother thinking about the story/philosophy/logic.

That means you are either feeling the pain (which requires painkillers to cure) or you are infected (you said you are losing color). I suggest use alcohol to clean up your wounds first. So far, the only thing to relief pain is the painkiller. Go to cities/military base with hospital or try to find some in civilian buildings. Usually zombie doesn't do that much further damage, maybe you just got unlucky (like being infected) p.s. staying in a healthy condition (eat food until full + drink water until full) is always helpful, so is vitamin.

Players who exploit the ability to server hop and players who don't.
mySoup117 replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in New Player Discussion
To me, I do server change, but never in combat. I prefer either log out before a fight happens or fight until death (without logging out). There is one thing for the server hoppers that worth mentioning, the chance/risk of "surprise attack" remains on both the hopper and people close to the hoping point. Usually before you spawn, you have one or two seconds immobility such as the system starts, load data, etc., that you still see the whatever loading scene while others see you standing, without a weapon out in hands. One time I was looting a military barrack and a guy just spawned right in front of me and a second later, he started yelling:" friendly! just spawned!" I didn't know if that was a hopper or sudden attack or newly spawned, but I still have the initiative to shoot him due to that second-long immobility (I took his axe, M4 and ammo and asked him to log out instantly, then quickly retreated). I believe server hopping is a value of person, so take it as an external pressure to be more careful (to your back) and remember: Dayz SA is now alpha and don't bring the REAL WORLD BS into the discussion because this IS A GAME. In REAL WORLD, no matter how unfair it seems to you, you don't get a chance to post a thread online trying to justify it. -
If your "open house" means "houses that have their doors open", then probably all these "open houses" have been looted recently. Try inland cities and those houses that look fresh (no door inside is open, neither is the gate). Just to mention, inland cities simply have a great amount of loot, I mean sometimes 5,6 food/drinks in a room (though it's a special storage-ish room). P.S. if all inland door-closed houses seem empty to you, look more carefully. DayZ SA doesn't have as much and obvious loot as it is in mod.
