  1. All I really want in the alpha is zombies that are a real credible threat. I want to know that if I go into town the zombies will mess me up and that I better make damn sure that I avoid them at all costs. I should be rolling with a group that knows if they get the zombies on them then we all die. I'm saying zombies should be something you are worried about rather than other players. Part of what has turned this mod into a giant death match with zombie flys is just that, the zombies are like flies. They can't do much and the walking in buildings, trees, and other glitches makes them a literal joke. They should catch up to you, pounce you, and eat your face off (Which it looks like that's already being worked on). You should also be able to yank them off, grab a pipe and bash their rotting skulls in as well. I have been really anxious for standalone because this mod has become a plethora of cheats, glitches, esp users, and other douche baggery that not only ruins the concept of accomplishment or survival in this. How much fun is it when you and everyone else can abuse an ammo glitch, food glitch, or other kind of glitch to basically bypass the need to scavenge? Not at all. Food should be as rare as gps or nvgs, ammo should be hard to find. It shouldn't be something you can dupe or bypass. I remember one release where the loot tables got screwed up. Food and drink barely every spawned and it actually became something we were forced to hit towns for, even the small ones with a few lootable buildings became a shimmer of hope for precious sustenance. We had to battle zombies on our way in and out, we ran low on ammo, got scared, and eventually obtained a single canteen which we filled at a nearby pump. THOSE experiences are what made dayz fun, now they never happen because it is everywhere and all that ammo you used can be replenished just by a simple glitch, every bullet is not important and it should be, every bullet should be a valued commodity and players shouldn't be so willing to use them for fear of not having a few shots when they know they will need them. That feeling of desperation for sustenance and knowing that you'll likely die on your own if you don't work with someone else is what makes people work together rather than begin death matching everywhere. Anyway, take your time with Alpha. I want it now dammit and I don't want to wait. But I'd rather wait and play something with a single gun and a few wooden sticks to beat back the zombie hordes than get it now and have none of that.

    Most Useful Weapon..Your Thoughts

The most useful weapon? The one in my hands, because no matter what gun, stick, rock, or hatchet I am carrying, is the most useful and dangerous weapon.
  3. I like the radio mod in ARMA2. I don't remember the exact name for it but if you had a radio with several different frequencies and happened to stumble upon another player on it great things could happen. I'm not sure how probable that is but making it more realistic than "HAY IS ANYONE IN CHERNO" blaring in your ears would be nice.

Ivan & Martin Free on bail

Terrible that they have been kept this long in the first place. Glad to see some progress!
  5. I didn't read to see if this was already said, but makeshift weapons (good for a shot or two before breaking) could be doable. Elektro looted to heck and back? Find a piece of piping, a few rifle rounds, some rubber band, and a nail (or metal object) to strike the cap and fire the round. Edit: Or just strike it with a hammer. The same could be done for a small shotgun. Obviously this would be terribly ineffective but it could be useful. One bullet is better than none!

    Adrenaline Gaming: Dallas 1/US264

I played with AG for a little bit. Some of the guys there are pretty cool but there are a few bad eggs. Hunter is a dick and will kick/ban you from the server if you piss him off or call him out on his immaturity so just watch what you say to his face and you'll be fine.
  7. I host with vert hosting too and this is what I have noticed: The guy running it is a pretty cool person and responds as quickly as possible to my requests. He and his company have bent over backwards to accommodate my server hosting requirements. They have not been around forever and as such they still have a few things to streamline, develop, and work on. They are not just about the money and they actually care about their clients. They are far easier to reach and casual than many of the hosting companies out there that just want a bank deposit from you and actually take the time to handle your server rather than click a setup file and let it run only stopping to deal with you if there is a problem. Fix made sure my server was working and we even sat together for hours one night figuring out why the server wasn't working to discover what was wrong which will only help the next person that comes along and has the same problem (I was thinking to myself the whole time "Who sits down with a customer for hours trying to figure out the problem!? I have never ran into a company online like this). I have never, I repeat NEVER ran across a hosting company that seems more like a friend or someone you can count on and work with than some damn drone you deposit money to every month. I have of course ran across the companies that seem like a friend only to find out it was a cleverly scripted chat bot being friendly ;) I know this is not his only job and I understand that, I appreciate how available he is regardless of his other commitments and I'm not on here flaming his company because things might not go my way. I had a bug earlier, we were trying to delete a bugged vehicle and it messed up the whole vehicle DB. We had to fix it by uploading a fresh one. We lost choppers, a uaz, and some other fun toys. I'm not on here flaming him because my server bugged out, I know that this is a mod and shit will happen. (Hell, my legs break on a daily basis while palying this game, do I bitch about it on the forums? Nope, I just carry extra morphine and solve the problem). What I can tell you is that these guys really do care. I've gotten so used to a company telling me to go frak myself instead of providing the best customer service they can. I have not had this problem with vert hosting. Yeah, they are not a huge gaming company that hosts servers for 100s of other games but they are nice. It's the difference between a big huge company and a smaller one. The smaller one is going to be more realistic and personable whereas a bigger company is going to be more detached and more about the quantity than the quality. I choose quality. These guys aren't perfect and they still have stuff in development but they are sincere. That counts a hell of a lot more to me than a few bumps on the road to getting my server running.
  8. Trying to host my own server and DayZ is still trolling. lol thanks for that Rocket, you troll.
  9. I got a feelin. That this wait is gonna be a long wait. That this wait is gonna be a long long wait. I got a feelin... Wooohooo That the devs gonna make me wait. That the devs gonna make me me waiit. ;) Just sit back and enjoy the wait, it will be worth it.

    North of Debug Line...

I probably would be if I had a camp that was off map. I just think that if you are going to have part of the map that is there it should be something you can use.

    North of Debug Line...

There should be trees north of the debug line and it should be a place you can store crap. Big ass forest ftw.
