So I'm geared up and know how to be careful. What now?
Firstbornchicken replied to pakundo's topic in General Discussion
Sadly a lot of people think that way :( Maybe they should just have ALPHA written over the ingame screen so people wont forget -
The future importance of hunting, cooking, the northlands and rare items (with pics!)
Firstbornchicken replied to serenityrick's topic in General Discussion
It would be cool if the game somehow enforced a diverse diet :) Eating can foods for days could actually kill you in real life, and it could, come to think of it, be a great solution for Dayz. -
Never found one.. But what is the point of having rare maps? what does it add to the game? :) To me it is simply a hindrance easily avoided, making it a bit, needless? Why spend hours finding maps when alt tabbing leaves you a full map instantly? I assume the survivors are somewhat aware of their surrounding cities, so it's not even because of immersion so much as just a time eater.

An interesting idea for a later time
Firstbornchicken replied to DeceasedPath's topic in General Discussion
Please don't make abstract solutions to bandits. I would think it silly to see several zombies blow past me, to attack someone much further away hiding in a bush. And how would we differentiate between defensive and offensive killing (or kos) ? -
Maps only coming in pieces and scattered, is one of the things i think is stupid, to be honest. I use a secondary monitor with a map loaded on it so i don't even pay attention to the map system in game. It is simply too cumbersome for me to even bother with

One thing that jumps to mind is, what is to stop me from hoading food from the first zone before heading north, thus being able to disregard hunting? As it stands, once you have eaten enough to become "Healthy" you can go hours without needed to eat or drink again -
BIRDS should be aggressive too - Animal discussion
Firstbornchicken replied to gamer222's topic in General Discussion
That would be annoying as hell... Just the thought of trying to hit a bird with an axe in this combat system makes me shudder! -
This I would be all for. Seems like a decent compromise.
-
When adding a feature you should really think about what it ultimately adds to the game.. Does this add another layer of immersion, and if so, does it outweigh the added time waste? In my opinion eating and drinking already takes as long as it should. If we are going for realism, we would have to take of the bag each time we use it. No thank you

Ah okay, i thought you guy were comparing SA Alpha to BF release. I played the BF beta, and it was near unplayable and only featured one map.. I would say SA is more stable in alpha than BF4 was in beta. But again it seems the comparison is a bit off, as BF beta, cod beta etc, are more made as demos than real beta´s.
-
Why would you compare them to SA? SA is in early alpha. Such a stupid comparison.

fast and highly observant zombies are bad for the game
Firstbornchicken replied to Antiklimax's topic in General Discussion
I would like to see zombies "Power up" if they kill a player, or stumble upon a dead body. I like the idea of thinking the zombies can starve as well, giving merit to the idea of them feeding making them stronger :) -
How so? I would think a large part of being in alpha, is being able to voice your opinion? If this guy really likes server jumping, then let him explain himself, instead of calling it ignorance, or declaring it an exploit(which it clearly is not) so as to kill all debate. I don't particular think server jumping is a fair way to play. But let the people share their opinion instead of trying to superimpose your own. This is basically the entire point of a forum.

You keep referring to unintended gameplay and call it an exploit. Do you understand the word exploit?
-
Besides the fact that a lot has been changed, and is announced to be different compared to the mod. You can not expect people to go back to the mod, and learn all about it, and then guess what will be applicable to this new game And once again it seems the word exploit is being used loosely here. If something has been set in place to combat an issue, would not make the issue an exploit. Just unintended. Exploit implies so much more than just not being intended.
-
That is not what an exploit is. Unintended gameplay does not equate an exploit. Gees.
-
His entire argument was he can't be banned because it is not breaking any rules (or in extension, any mechanics) which is actually quite a valid point. The forum guy, started out, way before any of that, by declaring server hopping as en exploit. I wonder if he even understands that word
-
He is being disrespectful towards people not considering server jumping a exploit.. Thinking server hopping should be allowed or not, is actually something entirely else.. Currently it cannot be considered an exploit(software/game wise) to server jump. it simply does not fall within that definition. In terms of a general exploit, then yes, it is, but so would be picking up a pistol and shooting someone who only has an axe. In this regard exploit means "advantages" nothing else. So, this Mr. forum man, is imposing his own, wrong, perception of an issue, and being disrespectful towards the people who disagree.. This would lead to a stern talking to, in most communities, and does in no way encourage debate.

Having played +10 hour sessions without encountering a single zombie, i would suggest waiting on optimizing them until they introduce more. Falling off ladders and suddenly jumping off stairs are way more problematic for me
-
You should remember your place, Mr. forum team man. You are addressing customers, albeit with a different opinion than yours, Relating them to a cancer is downright disrespectful. You should come to terms with the fact other people could have other expectations of the game than you, or resign your position
