Server Hopping/Combat logging-How it ruins the Dayz experience

So basically this is not going to go away?

Feels like a backyard mod made with insufficient tools.

Not even going to read your post: alpha.

    Should combat logging be ban-able?

It doesn't even matter if they don't combat log and you kill them, because as soon as they die they alt f4 join a different server, change locations, and then switch back to the server the "died" in and shoot you in the head while you try to figure out why you can't loot their non existent body anymore.

Discussion : KoS Mentality and how to keep it to minimum

I think that the KOS part of dayz is a unique game feature. What do I mean by that? Well there are several things (and I will try to explain them), and it gets more interesting with the more features they add. Now the people that do not KoS but instead restrain someone, take what they need and let them go with enough supplies to live on are sort of like the ricks of the world. They want to get what they need to better the odds of their survival and the survival of their friends with minimal damage to others. But they take a huge risk trying to detain people and then letting them go. What if that person is part of a larger group? What if they return with more men and more firepower? Sure they probably won't stick around to find out. But there is also no gaurantee that they won't stalk you and alert their friends of your position (paranoia). So this sort of paranoia spurs people, and I would say most people, to not trust other people. There is simply too much to loose and not enough to gain, and so these type of players (which I would say would be most people) either avoid human contact with strangers to stay safe, or they kill strangers on sight as a means of survival like the governor. One way is not above the other. It's just a unique part of human nature woven into a game like I have never seen before. I think once we are able to build bases it will provoke more human interactions that don't end in death. It will also provoke wars between neighboring communities like we saw in the walking dead, and that is what makes this game so great. The fact that people will kos makes trying to detain them and take blood from them so much harder,,you can just tell a geared up player to freeze unless you really know how to do it and get away with it. You have to stalk people for miles sometimes just to make sure their alone and then go in for the steal or kill. Dayz would not be as adrenaline pumping without the majority of people killing on site. All that being said there are still trolls out there who kill noobs for fun and they gain little from it. No loot. No chase. Nothing.

"Bandits" A rant about certain people

I have to agree with the third singer.every time I have tried to initiate a conversation with some one it ends with sone trying to kill me. And I either end up dead or they end up dead. So in the 'alpha' meantime and since there is no reason to work together with people to survive I track down other survivors, observe them from afar and when I know their numbers and behaviors I strike. Then I take the loot and move on. You may say that's not really kos, but effectively it is because even before I meet the next guy I know I'm going to kill him. Until banding together and making friends keeps me alive I will continue to kill.

    When are the cars coming?

I hope the cars are almost exclusively civilian with the exception that you can mod them. Add armor to the bus maybe a turret on top with or without a gun. Without a gun you can use it as a peep hole to fire out of, also with the increased weight of the armor have the vehicle wear faster. It could be so awesome.

    Game Depth and KoS

So you start with nothing, your hungry and thirsty. There is no time to cry about it, right now you need to survive. So that's what you do. You survive. At first you take it fast gathering essential supplies and then you take off to the woods trying to get away from the majority of people. Eventually you became great at surviving and you notice that people are not often friendly to strangers so you do not make your presence known but never hesitate to kill someone who threatens you. What have you done so far? Survive. By yourself. There was no need for others, they just make it more complicated to survive. Where was there ever room for community based play? When is it better not to kill someone out of your own paranoid state that they might try to kill you? Never. Currently the game is new and exciting and surviving is so much fun. The first time you enter a military complex looking for weapons knowing others were before you and could still be there. After awhile you are in full commando gear and you get bored so you explore the other aspect of the game; banditry. Perhaps you join a clan or play with friends using a third party communication software and you kill the shit out of people and that's it. I know the devs have plans for the game and I know its an alpha. But there is no need to cooperate with others and that is why people don't. This game is about survival and currently other people are your maim threat, so eliminating them is the safest thing to do. It makes sense, the game was built to do that. And that is the problem, people are the only threat really. Zombies pose no thtreat even if your barehanded there are so few of them you can punch them to death. Additionally there needs to be a reason to work with people like gathering supplies to build forts or secure towns with walls. Collecting parts to fix cars and then be able to store them in your new fort. Until there is that level of depth and zombies are more of a threat than hmans, than people will go north great military loot and kill others without discretion. There should be huge risks to leaving a town such as massive herds of zombies that are almost impossible to escape from unless you are really good or with a mob of other armed people. What do you guys think?
