I realize that this is in the alpha stage, but with such rapid sales and inflow of cash I think we as gamers deserve to know what's going on behind the scenes. I.e. more information on updates and ongoing projects that a more specific than; zombies: an ongoing project. Does anyone else agree?

20 Plus Million Dollars Later...
Hero of Suburbia replied to Hero of Suburbia's topic in General Discussion
I'm not hating on the devs, I just want to know that the effort that I put forth, punishing myself to play a buggy alpher and taking the time to write bug reports is being noted, and resources are being delegated to fix said problems, if not now, in the relatively close future. That is all, and saying that rocket is not the Dev from dice I don't expect him to act like one, I.e. limited updates/community interaction. But over reacters gonna overreact. -
The school house as me and my friends refer to it as has had the best luck for me. Also the brick two story buildings usually have one.

Who Are You? Or "How to make DayZ not all about KOS in a few not so easy steps".
Hero of Suburbia replied to semipr0's topic in General Discussion
Oh man, great post. Imagine the satisfaction of capturing a guy with a long grizzly beard and even longer locks of hair, and then shaving him bald, putting him back to square one without even killing him. Oh it would be great. -

psychological effects of banditry
Hero of Suburbia replied to SpetsnazGRU (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I don't really like the idea of humanity. To a compassionate person it seems logical that this would happen, but to someone who is leas inclined to empathize for other people and more inclined to put themselves first then it becomes a me vs. You mentality and the brain is able to cope well with these type of situations. Not to mention the people in the world who experience euphoria from murdering others. I'm not saying those people are justified in their actions, but by no means does their actions contribute to their phsyche. If you want this effect, role play it yourself, otherwise I see one of the best solutions to KOS is more zombies (which is coming) and zombies responding to noise much like in the walking dead. The more you shoot, the more noise you make, the more zombies you alert the lower your chances of survival. I suspect this is all to come in due time, but I hope there is no humanity system implemented. Just mho -
New Spawn System needs a fix!
Hero of Suburbia replied to [email protected]'s topic in General Discussion
Kamyshovo isn't even that far from electro or cherno. Personally I headed from balota through Kamyshovo up to NEAF for a change of fucking scenary. I play as a bandit so obviously pickings are slimmer up there, but usually more interesting against better survivors. I have lost track of a few victims only to find them a couple towns over a few hours later. -
The life of my first character died unexpectedly by a ghoster, when I decided to wait out a seige at green mountain. My second character is alive and well, and has been so since the second day I started playing for about 30 in game hours. I had looted a bunch of military outposts with my friend "White Jesus" and had all of the tkso gear I could find: jacket, vest, pants, hunter backpack, m4 with 300 round ammo box full, gas mask, and ballistic helmet. Then I realized: my character looks fucking retarded, and has absolutely no originality comparer to white Jesus who ironically was an African american male with a yellow bandana, common clothes and the only weapon he had was a crow bar. I ended up killing a mosin sniper who killed white Jesus just outside of balota on what we call sniper hill (just to the north of the AtCT). I then realized how satisfying killing people and zombies with the mosin was, and it began a change inside my character. I slowly began trading my high end military equipment in for more unique and original clothing options. Since then I patrol through the cities looking for additional items of interest with my friends, and never pass up the opportunity to handcuff unsuspecting survivors and force feed them rotten fruit ;) Anyway I guess I wrote all this to say that I geared up, geared down, played around, and still find the SA interesting. That may have to do with the fact that I always play with white Jesus and he never leaves a dull moment. So I hope you enjoyed my story, maybe share yours below? And if you have the unfortunate chance of being force dead rotten fruit, well I'm sorry. But for now that is how I get my laughs ;)

I always let people go, but 6 times out of 10 they try something funny and end up with a bullet in their brain.

Squad looking for mature like minded individuals

24, California, Hero of Suburbia -- don't know if this helps, but I work as an EMT for a private ambulance, so I am used to communicating need to know information only over the radio IRL. -
I personally like the mosin for a couple of reasons; It is more accurate at longer range. It takes less bullets to incapacitate. IMO it looks better/more fit to my character and finally I'm not the type of player that gets into a lot of "oh shit" moments against other players. I plan my routes, escapes, alternate escapes, and move in when the coast is clear. When a survivor comes into the town I post up with eyes on and neutralize the threat as necessary.

Server Hopping/Combat logging-How it ruins the Dayz experience
Hero of Suburbia posted a topic in General Discussion
So it was the 2nd day of my survival. Overall things were going well. After I washed up on shore I met a guy I will refer to as Bill. I was weary of him at first, but he seemed like a trustable guy. He said he only had one can of tuna but offered it to me under the pretense that I was hungrier than he. As I devoured the can of tuna he started telling me about these mutant creatures that now roam the place. It terrified me half to death. As our conversation continued he said he over heard other survivors talking about a military outpost to the north west where we could possibly find refuge, or at the very least a firearm. I asked him if this information was an invitation to join him and he nodded, but before we could go anywhere we needed supplies. We walked down the deserted streets of the city in a sort of slumber. It was sad really entering other people's houses and ripping the place apart for a can of beans. But such was the state of life. Skipping a few of the boring details we finally got enough supplies to make the journey. As we approached this military outpost we realized it was not as we had hoped. There was no refuge. Just a few walls and a couple buildings within. But not another healthy soul in sight. It was time for the second part of the plan, arm ourselves with whatever we could find. We tried on some military pants that seemed to fit and found a couple of m4 rifles, the only problem was there was hardly any ammunition. I ended up with 5 rounds and bill with 15. But hope was not lost, we saw what looked like a battle schematic indicating that there should be more ammunition atop green mountain. With this newly acquired Intel we headed to green mountain in a bunny hop technique, always covering each others movement. We finally reached the top of the hill, bill told me to climb the tower and keep watch as he looted the place. So far so good. He found more ammunition and all seemed well. But all was not well. 4,survivors were heading to the front door armed to the teeth. At this point bill moved with in audible range of these strangers and told them,,we don't want any trouble, we are honest men just trying to survive. The place is cleaned over but we can offer you some munitions if you let us pass. Before anymore words could be said bullets were zinging off of the fence and the four people quickly moved into an attacking position. I was able to pick off one and cover bill as he ran into the entrance of the tower and climbed the ladder before I was spotted by the other 3. As they were now reacting to my position I was able to strike down another running for cover. I tried to keep tabs on the other two, but I could only follow one as they wisely split up. I had to abandon my post once the survivor I couldn't track had set up position and started firing on me. I went back inside and closed the door. By this time bill had climbed the ladder to the top. We thought of a few ideas to get out of the situation but we decides the best thing to do would be to wait it out. They could never attack our position as there is only one entrance up the ladder, it also makes us vulnerable, but we had supplies that would last us for days possibly weeks. Therefore we concluded the best chance of survival is to wait it out a couple days. And then they server hopped and climbed the tower and then came back and shot us in the back from the top of the tower yelling over direct chat that we were gay noobs. I think that the server hopping issue is one of the most important issues to fix. It entirely breaks the game. I think one possible solution would be to not let people spawn inside buildings or towns. -
If we are asking ourselves two questions: Does it make sense to find this in a home on chenarus? Does it make sense to find this in a military base in chenarous? Than I would argue that the M4 should be replaced by the AK.

Force mic chat: skype etc.. thru dayz?
Hero of Suburbia replied to sai (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Best solution I saw: don't have direct chat a toggle option. If you are talking through your mike. Your character in the game is broadcasting it. -
How about Balota airfield military loot getting removed?
Hero of Suburbia replied to Twixxer's topic in General Discussion
I like the military loot at balota. Why? It allows for quick access to high reward equipment with a price. Like anything. Imagine all the people displaced from cherno during the apocalypse. Where are they going to go? To the closest place to find safety or weapons. Which happens to be balota. But there will be the more cautious survivors who head to the north airfield which is essentially in the middle of nowhere. And hopefully run into a lot less trouble. I also hate the idea of the farther inland you go the more experienced you are. "The real bandits fight at NW airfield" is just terrible. You can survive entirely on the coast including getting all of the loot you need. Say you already found weapons..you have ammo, and you have survived for say 24 hours in game time, but you are running low on ammo. You know you can head to balota, but most likely you are going to encounter heavy resistance. It's beautiful. And you don't have to turn dayz into a "walking simulator" to experience. -
Some things I would like to see...
Hero of Suburbia replied to Apple Monster's topic in General Discussion
Fires: I don't think there should be any "automatic" fires as city illumination. I think it should be entirely player created. Along with that there should be different types of fires to create all requiring different supplies. I.e. a camp fire (few logs and stones), a barrel fire (a barrel and some wood), a bon fire ( a LOT OF FUCKING WOOD and a street pavement area). I don't know those are just a few ideas. But each should obviously have different fields of illunination, warmth, and time they burn before going out. I don't know just an idea. -
How can we make a players life more important than his gear?
Hero of Suburbia replied to knawx's topic in General Discussion
Long live the beard, and if your a female??? Maybe armpit hair or leg hair? Yay apocalypse! -
Awh, you are such an awesome part of the game. Your lack of care for other players, your crazy alter-ego you have created in your in-game character. I love it! Some of the most exciting moments i have experience has been trying to stealthily run away from crazy groups of people trying to gun me down. Also to all the bambi lovers out there... If you arent careful at every point in the game then you will be killed. THis is just them dying in the first few moments in the game because of their carelessness and hopefully realizing that they should be more carfeul so when they have gear they care about they dont loose it in the same way. cheers, see you in chenarus.

What Happened In My First Day Of Day Z Standalone
Hero of Suburbia replied to irichey25's topic in General Discussion
Great story. Goes to show not everyone in a place of advantage has to handcuff and loot other players to have a good time. Sounds like both parties got a cool dayz experience out of it. -
Dayz is so much fun. PvP interactions (rather your outcome from it is life or death) is what adds replay value. Enjoy the game, and I am also looking forward to the updates!

Server Hopping/Combat logging-How it ruins the Dayz experience
Hero of Suburbia replied to Hero of Suburbia's topic in General Discussion
Yeah I agree with you. Only be able to log out outside of cities, and when you spawn in, you have to also spawn outside the city. Much like the main spawn where you spawn at the coast, close to cities, but not within the city limits.
