NOOOOOOOO!!!! Damn! Man that fucking rocked my ass up and I had the most shit-load of fun in a game since a daaaaammnn long time. Too bad it's over now :( I loved how the people began to group up to solve your riddle. It was just unbelievable exciting to run through the game, things to discover, to rush from one strange occurrence to the next, to theorize and much much more. It is extremely sad that all this was just a hoax. The game, my game especially now had a deeper meaning. I really had a lot of fun at all and even if I'm a little disappointed that it is now over, so I want to thank you anyway for everything. To the developers: people, let you come up with something. Give us a great story, a dynamic story with riddles and wonders and your game will sell as if it were the holy grail. Through this story, what was going on here, I was able to convince some of my friends from DayZ and it will be hard for me to tell them that this is not negotiated to a story from the pen of the developers. Well played VictorM Vote for the Hoax of the year! -

Strange look for a water tower but this explains why they are allways located near a farm. Thanks for that mate ;) -

Ok man, here I am back again form my investigation today. I was out there, up to the north-west end of the world to check out what's going on there and here is what I found: I found a little hill looking like a Pyramide on the field. I think this is only a misstakte of the developers while creating the map but it looks pretty cool and mysterios, so I want to share it with you. You can find it if you are at the nothern exit of Novy Sobor at the road sign and than head out straight NW. You have to run something like 5 minutes to get there and you will pass 1-2 deerstands. The location is rough 063 066 on the map. Also I found some more of those strange poles with a ball-thing on top: Taken at Stary Sobor 062 076 This is alsoe Stary Sobor 062 075 different view Here I was at Grishino 059 052 and the last one is taken at 049 022. It's not inside a village/city but as any other I found at this jurney it was placed very close to a farm/cow house (it's behind me) Later I came to this place 017 005. On the map it looks like a big lake and even so if you are looking at it form distance. But acutally it just a big yawing crater, looks a bit like after a metroid impact or something but pretty cool though. My next shots are take roughly at the area of 013 013. As you can see on the map it looks like ther must be a city, a base or somewhat. I think they plan to place another cool building/buldings out there. And, as requested, the north-west end of the world :) There I was, in the middle of nowhere or at the ass of the world and I thought to myself that I could still go see what is hidden behind it. So I ran to the north and ran and ran and ran and ... I said that I ran to the north? and ran and ran... To see there was basically a shit of nothing. The textures there don't have any details. There are several hills and small mountains, but nothing, absolutely fucking nothing that could be interesting anyway. Only the fact that the map is great, hell has large and - well - offers huge potential for expansion. So if you have some boring times, just run to the north :P Anyway, after about 45 minutes of the race I had enough workout for my index finger and - who would have thought it - ran back 45 minutes ... Still, it was an experience and kind of fun :) cheers Kabraxis -

Ok guys here is what I did so far to get any further in this investigation. 1. Downloaded the DayZ [sA] second radio transmission in Elektrozavodsk https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=PZv5-VLZE2A#t=10 video with JDownloader form uTube. I used the 720ish version for best qulaity. 2. Imported the video in GoldWave. It's a nice tool to cut parts out of tracks and convert videos into soundfiles. 3. I've used Audacity and messed a bit arround withe the equalizer settings to may get a clear a possible sound. 4. Because of not having a 3.5mm cable to connect my sound-out and sound-in on my sound card I used my headset and speakers to get the sound in RXSSTV. My equalizer settings on Audacity are: My come out with results with RXSSTV are: The sound file without equalizer used: The sound file with equalizer used: First I was like "well a good piece of colorful nothing". But than I remembered this post: In my attempts to translate the sound into an image I sometimes noticed white spots in the approximate position of those who can also be seen in this picture from bjurrsson. Unfortunately, my skills and resources are very limited in this area, but I hope I was able to help a little. That's a good idea! I will check this out today. In addition, here is a list of tools and a check-list for recording I collected in this thread. I did a little bit of re-edit to make it a bit more clear. Also I added a think may no one thought about so far: Real time. Yes, real time. Everybody talks about the server time they heared the transmission but it seems nobody thought about what real time they where sent. I think this is important too because some records are done while server was in day-time and also in night-time. I will post it to the CCSD group on steam too. cheers Kabraxis -

This is a verry good point. I think we should try this out. To be honest, if I were a developer, I would never admit that this signal is not from us. Look at what the players do here to solve the mystery. It would be unwise to admit the developer are not responsible for this. -

How did you manage to get a transmitter so fast again? I was on about 10 servers, farming the fire station but couldn't find a transmitter O_o -

I've seen them as I roamed arround the map in some towns and villages too. If they are only there for weather purposes why they are also in some small villages? Maybe they are there for just more than checking out the weather. "CQ CQ CQ DE C1. GOTO 0" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morse_code_abbreviations Too bad, my try to decipher the numbers does not fit to this :( But I'm not giving up that easy. -

So if it turned out by another player, that other player would have to know exactly where the subject is located. He should know that the target person has a radio AND he would have to know that it is turned on. In addition, the person would need to track the target person to the Green Mountain WITHOUT to be discovered here. I think this is not possible. Sure it's possible that someone is sitting next to me in the bush and I do not notice him or he sneaks up on me without me recognizing something. But not all the way right up to the Green Mountain plus the things mentioned above. -

Wow this is really creepy and awesome at the same time! I really hope that it was intended and implemented by the developers . This would give the whole game a lot more depth and it would feel much more real and exciting. Well, regardless of whether it ultimately is a fake or not: Since English is not my native language, I'm not sure if I have understood correctly, but a member write, that a coordinate on map indicates a kind of "man" drawn you see ony if you increase the card. I believe that this is an indication that the whole thing is just not a hoax. Furthermore gives me the statement of another member to think about: He wrote, that they have updated with the last patch the radio and he also asked the logical question: Why should this item during the Alpha, in which we find ourselves now times, been updated, if it does not already have a meaningful function so to spark within? For me, an indication of that it this is not fake. I think many players go wrong with the way to hear the radio messages too. I really doubt that they will be played always the same (server) time, not to mention the fact that you can hear on all servers that fit into the time criterion. That would be far too simple and boring. Someone would do the puzzle basically during the Alpha or solve it at least in beta . Where would be the fun for people joining the game after it's come out? Exactly, it would be boring. I've played arround a little with the coordinates and brought them into a relationship with our alphabet. Although you can not directly do something with it, but maybe it takes someone else here on a brilliant idea. I am in the process proceeds as follows: Yield: Unfortunately, this has no real bit of sense. It follows that is not a word (at least not in our alphabet). Then I thought about it, that may, at minimum magnification of the map, the letters attributable to the 16x16 squares of card would. Unfortunately, this also has its limitations, since the letter Q appears in it, so the map should have at least 17 squares in length or width. Next, I thought about an alternative addition. What if a number does not start with 0 is a 10? It would look like this: Well, not a big difference: A pattern is nevertheless struck me: The number 1, at the beginning of a pair of numbers appears only in the second block. Maybe it's random, no idea. Maybe missing just a few numbers ... That was, however firstonce from me, I'm going to sleep now! Hope everyone understands what I tried to say. I used Google Translator to help me a bit out :P -
We NEED some way to identify heros and bandits.
Kabraxis (DayZ) replied to 1S1K-Airborne's topic in General Discussion
Yeah I think that would be verry nice :) Indeed I love beeing a here rather than kill others. The problem is at one point you are fed up with those guys you helped and THANK killing you. As an addition to your first posting: As you spawn you'll have an bandana in your inventory for free use or not. But if you kill some one who not harmed you first the bandana will vanish. I know this might cause some problems if you help your mate who was attacked but it's a nice way to identify friendly people. What I see now is that the amount of peaceful players decrease from day to day. So all will end up in one horrible kill on sight slaughter. -
The Dark Side....who Is With Me?
Kabraxis (DayZ) replied to DirtyscumbagLith's topic in General Discussion
Well, in my case I kill just for fun and to avoid beeing bored. Sometimes I help people out there but - as so often - yesterday I got killed by a group I helped to slay zombies... -
maybe it's because of beeing close to disconnecting from the server. If you got this chain-thingy icon lower right side closed you are close to a disconnect. Maybe you have been there about 120 seconds ago, ran out and logged out. The Server still recognizes you at your last spot bevore the chain thing is comming.

Well yeah, after I've played some hours (today is my first time) with "one or two" deaths I tend to be more careful. Was verry happy about my new Axe, the Mountain Backpack and other fancy stuff I found arround. Then, after sneeking arround like hell, watching my back every some minutes, I finally came to the all-mighty Military Base. I was happy like hell to maybe finally finde a cool gun or stuff like that. So I climbed up a roof to see if there is something intresting (even if my minde told me "go back inside, you are an easy target up there. you will die and some one will grap all of your stuff!") and I found a think that pretty much looked like a red radio or something. And as if I wouldn't have known it - I fell off the damn roof - laing dead on the ground :D Well guys and girls, tell me your dumbest ways to die :) So I maybe feel less like a fool :P EDIT: Dumb :D thx
