Do you want to see personal statistics on death? ex: Killer, kills, shots fired etc...
djporternz replied to leefriendfield's topic in General Discussion
I'm not really into tracking Z/Player kills or getting into any man-length style competitions. The only statistic that should have any weight is the 'Days Survived IN Game.' And it should reset on each and every death. The other stats are just fluff. May be fun to see some of them, but only if they are NOT aggregated to some BS ranking site. -
Isn't "DayZ" quite possibly the dumbest name ever?
djporternz replied to Ozelot (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
My posting that was more a quick nose-thumbing in Steak's direction. Someone who looks remarkably like the erstwhile Leonardo should have known that no such phrase would have passed the formers' hirsute lips. -

Correct! http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Simplicity: "Anselm", The Recognitions (1955) by William Gaddis, p. 457; "Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication" was also used as an early slogan at Apple Computer in 1977 (introduction of the Apple II personal computer), and has also been attributed to Leonardo Da Vinci, but no published occurrence of such an attribution has yet been located prior to one in Wisdom Through the Ages : Book Two (2003) by Helen Granat, p. 225. -
341 hours in experimental exclusively and have yet to see a confirmed hack while I've been online. Plenty of 'features' getting in the way of play, but no hackers. Unless this rubber-banding on experimental is some new exploit.... took me 15 mins to walk 20m on AU-001 last night!!

How to avoid people going after their own corpse
djporternz replied to kOepi (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
Corpses are bait, nothing more. And it works both ways. It is very rare that you get back to your body and find anything worth having. Better off heading in another direction and hope for better luck elsewhere. The only reason I ever go back to my corpse these days is for a cup of bitter, cold REVENGE! But I'll ensure that I get there tooled up before I get there! PS: The only thing ever worth going back for is the can opener! -
I voted 'no' on this one. Like most things in DayZ that require an action by the player to initiate, my view is simply that if you don't want to use a feature you are not forced to do so. If you don't want to have your immersion broken by the Player List, simply don't push the key to bring it up on screen.

Global bans can only be dealt with by BattlEye. No one here can do anything but offer consolation or a heartfelt 'HA HA'! Go here: http://battleye.com/support.html.... and good luck! PS: Just in case you're too lazy to go there:

At a guess, I'd suggest the speed increase could be simply from the increase in swap speed if your swap file is now on the SSD. I don't see any mechanism that would affect FPS otherwise. An SSD can only affect transfer speeds between drive and memory, it can't affect graphics rendering in any other way!

At the moment in the SA it doesn't make a whole lot of difference, but when we eventually get persistent objects and storage it will. Get into the habit of playing on a single server now, and you'll have a head start on the rest. Also, if you are on the same server all the time you build up a picture of the regular players and then when you run into them in the supermarket... it may not go as badly as it could!

Will this make my computer and game run faster?
djporternz replied to bsturak2@verizon.net's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
If you can play ArmA II in single player with a respectible FPS, then nothing you do at your end is going to reduce the lag. The definition of 'respectible FPS' here is pretty fluid... If not, then anything you do except throw money at your CPU will be pretty much wasted cash. Server side lag is in someone else's hands, and you either have to live with it or move on to another server. For free tools, though, I like the CCleaner and Defraggler from Piriform: http://www.piriform.com/. CCleaner will delete and old temp files and trash from the multitude of directory locations, and Defraggler is just a reliable disk defragmenter. -
Why do people want to tell others how to play?
djporternz replied to AdmiralBull's topic in General Discussion
No... that's a jungle gym with softfall. A sand box is exactly the same but without the jungle gym. It's also alternatively known as a public animal litter box, which is a far better descriptor of the current state of DayZ.... -
Definately is there! It is packed into the dayz_code.pbo file, which is in turn found in the @DayZ_Epoch\addons folder. Check that you are downloading the correct *client* file version from http://dayzepoch.com/#install.

$10 extra for double the space? Not much of a choice, unless the larger one is a dog... and even then.... Also, if you have the option, throw in a largish standard hdd for handling the windows temp files/swap files, etc. A little harder to set up but moving those read/write cycles off the ssd is a big win in terms of longevity.

[sarcasm] No, I'm completely able to enter the cryllic letters via ALT+ codes on my US keyboard. [/sarcasm]

Actually, it's Электрозаводск!! Come on people, it's not that hard!! Anybody noticed that the SA has a provisional PEGI rating of 18, and that most of the players are well under that.

If you bought it through Newegg and they hold the warranty, then I'd suggest that you go through them if there is a fault. Opening the case shouldn't void your warranty, but having someone else service it most definantly would.

Even if you throw out the 'realism' and opt for the lesser 'authentic' epithet, there is no way that you can magically hold onto gear through death. So no. This is way too meta-game for me. It's bad enough that you can still sometimes run back to your cold dead corpse and re-gear for little effort ATM. TBH, what this boils don to is that you want a bigger starting inventory on spawn. I say get rid of the flashlight... and I'm a bit iffy on even the t-Shirt and Jeans!
-
I don't think it would need that much, but it definately would need a separate texture and config entry for each one which would amount to pretty much the same thing. If it is indeed creating dynamic textures, this would be the way to do it. Would still require some sort of tracking back-end, but we already have that with the hive. I might have to stop playing long enough to have a look into this...
-
I don't see it as having a point. You can't see player names in-game ATM so there is no reason to show this when you die. You can't do anything with the information contained in the message so it just becomes a meaningless piece of 'meta-game' BS. So, no.

V. interested in the Mult-Thread / Multi-Core and 64-bit items. I'm very much hoping these extend across the client and not just the server code. This has always been the shortcoming of the RV engines, and TBH, if they can get it to work for DayZ I'm sure it will be propergated to the ArmA III engine as well! Also looking forward to the Modding Support and how much freedom we will be officially allowed with this and how these will interact with the existing and new Hive mechanics.

Go here for the details: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/158966-dayz-standalone-server-hosting-rules-server-reporting/ You have been seriously misinformed. If they do nothing then it puts them in direct violation of the ToS for hosting companies. They may be big, but we're talking serious cash penalties if they do. And a heads up, the Top Tier providers have already been paid. The only ones who lose their cash are the Admins in breach of the server hosting rules.

Meh.... Don't care. I play on 1PP + Hardcore server exclusively. Doesn't worry me at all what happens to 3PP. Wall glitch, yes, definately needs a fix asap. FoV. Again, meh. Fov doesn't do much that I can't already get with a triple-/5-head display. Currently I play with 4320x900 in Triple-head. Gives me a wider FoV without having to touch default FoV settings.

i get kicked by admin and get 300 s join timer
djporternz replied to chris90's topic in General Discussion
300 seconds is the clinicly proven average length of time it takes to find the IP address of the offending server and from that the top tier provider and then write a critical essay to the same regarding the SoB admin and his abuses wrt the ToS for the server in question. Of course, you have to always remember (as a much wiser sage than I has previously stated).... If you encounter an abusive admin or server, please do not post it here on the forums. We cannot do anything with these reports. It is not productive and does not expedite action taken against these servers. Please report them to the GSPs directly following the pinned Guidelines. -
BattlEye is working. Yes there is a little bit of work to update the filters but it is a change for the good and a big 'win' in the long run. TBH, If you think BattlEye is 'crap' you should try running a Public server for the Mod without it. Now that's 'CRAP' right there!

Any date confirmed for vehicles being introduced?

SOON™, Soon™, or soon™. Definately not Very Soon™ and I'm sure Already Done is definately out!
