Make more customization for your character, like haircuts, graphic tees, etc
djporternz replied to Dusty_'s topic in Suggestions
I haven't seen anything indicating something like this anytime soon. Would be good to have, but would need to be managed so as to not induce too much resource greed in the client or server. If you go by the possibilities within other ArmA products, then it will probably always be somewhat limited. Could be alleviated with the inclusion of many more clothing options and colours within the current framework. -

Your point was clear the first time. As I said, I'm not about to validate you Post Hoc justification for your actions. I had written a long point by point post in reply, but your comments above are more damning to you than anything I could add. All I can do is make the point that 'The end does NOT justify the means!' You have repeatedly stated that you are more comfortable shooting at targets that have no possibilities of inflicting any type of threat or harm to yourself and that you would rather take the easy options rather than actually have to 'man up' as it were. You also run off into gross mischaracterisations of the players in DayZ based off of your own biases and play style. As for anyone who disagrees with you as being naive. self righteous, and ignorant. No we're not. But a detailed analysis of just that statement would take too long and you wouldn't read it anyway! As for wanting to turn DayZ into some sort of TvT Bandit vs. Hero deathmatch. I haven't seen anybody suggesting that on these forums. What we are saying is simply 'Douche is what douche does.' I'll put my neck on the line for this one, and expressly state here that I AM saying that your methodology in this instance is that of a douche. -
FIXED: You might want to fix your link. It's not showing.

Server IP and PORT or you're just blowing smoke! -
Depends how long you've been waiting. I've never dealt with fragnet, but Vilayer who I have dealt with regularly usually take about two days to follow up and confirm a claim against a server. They also don't generally communicate with me beyond my initial report, but I can confirm the action by the server disappearing from the server list.

For arguments sake, let's say killing Zombies and other players makes me happy i.e. increases my morale. Why am I being penalised for doing something I enjoy because it conflicts with your personal moral code. Sorry, no. As with all the similar systems proposed on these forums, I wouldn't support any system that tries to impose a moral code on the players. And we are talking morality here, whatever weasel word you try to hide it behind: Morale, Humanity, Sanity, etc.

To stop Kill On Sight, we should make life more valueble

LOL... Sorry, but you don't know Rocket that well, do you? This is the Rocket that tweeted out about how great Andy's Torture Porn story was on Rock, Paper, Shotgun! And you reckon he would want to put and end to KoS. I think your talking about the wrong guy, seriously! And what about the issue of new spawns running up to another player screaming 'Kill me! Kill me!' because they can't stomach the thought of spawnig so far from their beloved Balota? Technically that is no different to KoS if the other player does the deed. -
bleeding, hungry, thirsty, fracture, and soaked
djporternz replied to Phineas's topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
You get that a lot when they include a new item and/or feature that they want testing. They tend to up the spawn rates of them to ensure they are in you face all the time. Not a bad thing IMHO. As to the 'soaked' icon. It's just telling you you've been out in the rain too long. ATM I don't think they have it tied into the illnesses that getting wet and cold can cause. Just get somewhere out of the rain for a while and it should go away after a time. As to the fracture, it can be fixed with a shot of morphine or with a splint made of sticks and bandages. Each are hard enough to come by to make them problematic. Oh, and ignore FrankieG. He hasn't learnt how to stack ammo properly yet, so you can't take him seriously! -
Update Rev. 0.36.115535 (Experimental branch)

Quite a good rant as rants go. 6/10. Spelling was very good, punctuation nearly flawless, and grammar was acceptable. There were however several sentence fragments that let you down. The lack of expletives was, however, a refreshing change! Zombies are indeed the elephant in the room, if you'll pardon the ill-treated metaphor. They are still listed as being inline for a major reworking, and I would have hoped that they would have seen progress by now. But they haven't and the players have noticed that they pose no threat whatsoever and have resorted to the tried and true 'let's just kill every player we can because we can'. Yes, I too die a little when I hear Rockets voice. This is a game about the Zombie Apocolypse. We need someone with at least a heavy Czech accent that is barely recognisable as english, or if we can't have that, at least one of those overly pompous English english ones. But that nasally high pitched NZ accent just kills me. And I'm a fellow NZer! Ah.. That's not what you meant, was it... My bad! On a more serious note, the framework neccessary for the PvP elements are already there. It is easier to add a new gun and ammo as all you need to do ATM is add the models, animations and configs and you're pretty much good to go. Adding tents requires the framework to be expanded to include them. Same with much of the crafting that is slated for inclusion. But I think that the PvP horses have already been let out of the stable and no matter what the Devs decide to do there is a large proportion of the player base that will only recognise this part of the possibilities that the full DayZ game will allow. We may need to wait until private hives/dbases before we can really gauge the full potential that the sandbox can deliver. -
That's probably true. TBH I can understand the position of the Ukrainian population. There recent history is one of being screwed in turn by Russia and by their own elected officials. At least with being aligned with the EU it would be someone new screwing them over for a while. Anyway, that picture in the OP could never happen in DayZ. Everyone except the guy with the B95 would have been KoS'd before they got there. Just saying... @DeatHTaX At least we're talking about it. There is no way we can influence anything in that region of the world, and anyone who could is likewise not listening to us.

So, KoS. How many threads on this topic do you reckon there will be tomorrow. I've counted at least six today, but I haven't checked too much. I'm thinking that tomorrow will be a big KoS/Anti-KoS day as everybody will be full of peace and loving kindness since Mars will be in Uranus with Virgo rising. What do you think?

The easiest way to find one is to throw away all your loose .45 ammo or your FNX. You can guarantee that you'll find a mag as soon as those items are irretrievable. It also works the other way around. Same goes for any other gun that requires a magazine.

I don't see how they could possibly work to the advantage of DayZ. Let's leave things like this to modders after the game gets to release.

Great, more torture porn. I couldn't see anything redeeming in this, and it wasn't even funny. Your mum should be proud indeed!

I knew the DayZ Mods impact on total ArmA sales was big, but didn't realise that it accounted for a solid 50%. No wonder they are getting in behind the SA in a big way. And to be frank they generally deserve the recognition that it is bringing with it. They are one of the best little software companies that I've had the pleasure of travelling with over the years. Started out with OPF and have continued up through to ArmA 3 and now on into DayZ. It is always interesting to watch stories like this unfold. Starting out as something that no one believes is going to be of interest to any more than a handful of people through to it exploding out into the world. There are parallels here with Minecraft and it's success, but ATM DayZ is a long way from that level of success. But we can hope... Anyway, great video, thanks for the link. Learnt a few new things from it. Cheers.

Just smile knowingly to yourself and continue on with your brand new character. After all, if your character wasn't so totally awesome, Dean wouldn't have taken the trouble to delete it! He doesn't like the competition! NOTE: It probably wasn't Dean personally who deleted your char, as he now has enough money to hire someone to do this for him! NOTE2: I could be not telling the truth here, or I could be just lying. On the other hand, I could be just making it all up! You decide! NOTE3: I've had to edit this post five times already! My spelling and grammar go to crap when I've been drinking. PS: There is no font size smaller than 8. Just thought you should know. Oh, and there is a big smiley attached to this whole post, but it's invisible. Can you see it?

Update Rev. 0.36.115535 (Experimental branch)
djporternz replied to Hicks_206 (DayZ)'s topic in News & Announcements
Since the last Experimental patch wasn't pushed to Stable last Wednesday, and Rocket Tweeted about having it spend more time in testing before it does happen, then I'm guessing that if no new major feature suddenly becomes ready for testing we're probably looking at 2~3 weeks before we have any significant new content to play with and test. -
I hope that's sarcasm, otherwise you've been enticed here under false pretenses. The game isn't centred around PvP. It is centred around player interaction which isn't the same thing. PvP is just the way it has unfolded. There is nothing in the design or philosophy behind DayZ that dictates a PvP only interpretation.

They're all probably up at Berezino. It seems to be the place to spawn for those in the know.

As people have said. Move into the treeline and take some time to make sure you are truly alone. As long as you do this, you should be fine. I've been able to log out virtually anywhere given time to scope out the area properly. TBH, logging out is easy. Try logging back in at the centre of NWAF on a fully packed 50 player server. Now that was 'instant action' and a hell of a lot of fun!

Update Rev. 0.36.115535 (Experimental branch)
djporternz replied to Hicks_206 (DayZ)'s topic in News & Announcements
Optimisations for nVidia and Intel have been applied recently and reports a generally favourable as to their benefit. AFAIK the optimisations for AMD/ATI are still to be applied. But please note, even with these optimisations applied you are not going to get the FPS out of the RV engine that you would get from an equivalent CoD/BF style platform. The RV engine is not really optimised for this style of play (FPS Twitch shooter PvP), TBH. What it excels at is the per frame simulation that these other platforms are not capable of. Also, the RV engines are notoriously CPU rather than GPU bound. A faster/better performing CPU has always produced better results than a slower CPU with the latest GPUs. It is getting much better over time, and I'd hope that in the future we will see some major improvements. So if you're getting 40~60 FPS in the wild and between 25~35 FPS in towns and cities, you're probably at the high end of what's possible on mid~high PCs ATM. -
Rocket, please DO NOT remove slow vault animation.
djporternz replied to combatcomm1's topic in General Discussion
This is probably the issue that people are complaining about when it comes to the current implementation. A general fix would to be allow both a jump/vault and a seperate climb over as we have now but initiated from seperate key presses i.e. under player control. The current set up seems to be too reliant on near perfect timing of key presses that don't take into account server/network lag, etc. But I'd definately not like to see it removed. -

Not at all. Why would I be mad at a troll. But please go reread the Forum Rules: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/153786-forum-rules-roles-and-guidelines/. While you have rights you don't have the right to say just anything you feel like. This isn't a free for all, it is a Forum, and a reasonably well run one at that. But back to your unfounded point, there are indeed new things in the current patch notes as well as the usual bug fixes that we get with each new iteration. Things are progressing, and the fact that you are complaining that your pet feature is not currently implemented is irrelevant. Things will get done when they get done. Now if your pet feature is not in game in a year and a half or so, I might take your complaint a little more seriously. -

'Better' is a weasel word, and 'Catagorically Better' even more so. It depends so much on definitions and biases for those terms. The M4 in pristine condition in RL verses a Mosin or SKS in similar condition and circumstances should in theory be more accurate and able to send more lead down range over a given time. But if you have to do a field repair on an inoperable gun then I'd take the Mosin every time.
