Simply put, you aren't going to get 60 FPS everywhere in this game. It's just not going to be possible, no matter what optimisations they throw at the engine. So if that is your end game here, then this is not the game for you. If you can live with 35~45 FPS in built up areas, then you'll be a little bit happier, but you're going to have to compromise on some of those 'eye candy' features to do it. Like DevilDog, I went through each setting and tweaked them to get a compromise between what I was seeing and average FPS. Found something I liked and will stick with that. I started from everything on, and tweaked things down. I tried the other way, from low and turning things on, but that was soul destroying! The biggest factor in all this, seems to be the fact that you get restricted to 4 cores of a CPU and only 50% GPU activity. I have been unable to get DayZ to use more cores or hit the GPU harder.

No! Because you didn't get the server without signing the pre-nup. As soon as you signed that, he has all the marbles (and the lawyers and your cash). You sign on the line and you play by their rules. That's how it works. That's how it's always worked. That's how it will work tomorrow.

Is This a Worthwhile Endeavor for the Community?
djporternz replied to DKR's topic in General Discussion
We've got maps in-game already, all you've got to do is get out there and find them. The tools you're suggesting are all well and good, and I'll go as far as saying even interesting from a technical PoV. But, they would be exploited to give players an advantage where they don't deserve one. Then they would become a cruth for those players as they come to rely on it to do what they do. You want to find the best place to snipe from. Get off your arse and go look for it. Also, this is a game breaker, in as much as their is no in-game rational for anyone to have access to this kind of technology within Chernarus at this time. -
New thread, same old crap. Nothing new here!
-
Hmmm.... YouTube has quite a collection of things being f'ked up by people shooting at them... seems pretty realistic to me!

Your house, your rules, but the server is located at your friends house not yours, the pieces are all borrowed from relatives, and you did read that pre-nup agreement that you signed when you handed over your cash, didn't you. There are consequences if you break a legally binding contract, and 'legally binding' is defined by the side with the better lawyers.

If this is what you all are arguing about, then this has nothing, nada, zilch, zero to do with a discussion on mouse acceleration! The reason you can look up and down faster than left to right while not in freelook is simply that up and down are just head movements. Left and right you're moving your whole damned body. And if you have a gun extended in front of you, that is going to slow you down even more. In freelook both move at the same speed, unless you've screwed up the x- y- sensitivities. These are design choices by the dev team, not bugs or mistakes.

I'd like to hear waht they could come up with, but like many, music in games is the first thing I turn OFF!

Not at the moment they can't. Later we will be allowed to have a truly private server and we will have the ability to do whatever we like, but this is provisional on the fact that they won't be connected to the public hive. As of now, there are strict rules that need to be followed, even if you are the one paying for the server. If you want to run and/or play on a PvE only server, you're going to have to suck it up and wait. As an aside, the game development as seen in the current DayZ enviroment isn't up to offering any sort of robust PvE type experience ATM. The Zs are not enough of a threat and there is nothing else in the enviroment that is likely to add to that. When and if the Zs become a major threat, then maybe PvE will be viable. You could use the current implementation in some sort of player-driven RPG setup, but even that would be a little weak ATM.

OP, just a quick point here. I can't fault your mannly man-ness, but your math skills are less than stellar. By my calculations your story can only be of interest to 1/903,751 people (as at 10/01/2014), or if you prefer 0.000001106499467% of the current DayZ player base. I've just spent the last three days sitting on top of the Cherno firehouse roof calculating this for you. You're welcome. PS: If you could send me a new red pen, it would be appreciated, as mine is now badly damaged.

Cruel!! That is some RomCom right there!

Steam is having issues ATM. 10/01/2014 07:00 am NZDT. BE is working fine but Steam authentication is offline. A quick check you can make: If you go to the 'History' tab of the server list and there are servers listed there, problem is probably down to Steam. Was even able to connect to a historic server, but booted after a minute or so due to 'Authentication Timeout'. Not sure if Steam is down for maintenance, bugs or DDoS fairies, though. EDIT: 07:20~ish am. Steam back up, back to playing DayZ.

You are, Wukey, you are. All you have to do is say it to yourself three times each morning, and it will be true! But to the OP, all I'm hearing in your posts is that you are all that, and that you don't like combat logging and ghosting. Oh, and you got killed by someone and you don't like that either. Thanks for sharing, because what we really need is another whiney post from a butthurt player about something that the devs are already fully aware of and working on. So once again, thanks. PS: I am a Lance fan. Sue me!

What extremely shallow thinking! One; you don't want to be punching great big holes in what is probably the only helo you're ever going to see in game. You track down that pilot and you shoot him in the head. Then you steal his ride. End of.

Anyone have Black and White Graphic ?- DayZ Standalone
djporternz replied to davc123456's topic in New Player Discussion
It takes time. Also, I think you have to have the healthy status to get the fastest healing rate. Or it may show up as 'healing' if you aren't at full health. There are a few good guides floating around the forums with all the info in them. -
The large construction sites: You'll usually come across half a dozen backpacks of various sizes on the stair well or the 2nd floor.
-
Quoting myself from another thread: If you open up the file 'Documents\DayZ - Other Profiles\<Profile Name>\<Profile Name>.DayZProfile' and search down near the bottom of the file for the lines: lastMPServer="119.252.191.191:2602"; lastMPServerName="DayZ Standalone Hosted by LasR Gaming (Public/3PP:ON) 114008"; That's the info you're looking for. These lines are updated when you join a server.

Dayz lags when recoding! Please help
djporternz replied to theginger (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
Ditched Fraps for Bandicam and haven't looked back, since Fraps hit the FPS way too hard. Can't use shadow play as I have a 560 Ti so it won't run on it, but funny thing is Bandicam is basically doing the same damned thing. -
how can i check the server i am currently on?
djporternz replied to RedNoak's topic in New Player Discussion
Okay, just did a quick check to confirm a theory, and it proved correct! Yay me. Now, I haven't found a way to do it automatically in game, but if you open up the file 'Documents\DayZ - Other Profiles\<Profiule Name>\<Profiule Name>.DayZProfile' and search down near the bottom of the file for the lines: lastMPServer="119.252.191.191:2602"; lastMPServerName="DayZ Standalone Hosted by LasR Gaming (Public/3PP:ON) 114008"; That's the info you're looking for. These lines are updated when you join a server, so if you have this file open in a editor that can detect the changes as they happen, you can track exactly which servers you are on in real time. As I said, not automatic, but the best we can do ATM. -
If the problem is just in DayZ, I'd suggest that as a first step you delete the 'DayZ' and the 'DayZ - Other Profiles' directories from your 'Documents' folder. It just may be that something has changed WRT the display settings the monitor will work with. This will kill any previous video settings and return you to the defaults. It may not help, but it's worth a crack.

Getting this for long period from the forum server. Is it just load related, or is there something else causing it, ATM?
-
Good to know it's not just me, then.

Sometimes that's how the development cycle works. For each small step forward, we have to take a small step sideways. Just relax and enjoy the ride.

HELP! Battle Eye: Client Not Responding
djporternz replied to Stinkyzbananaz's topic in Troubleshooting
Go here: http://www.battleye.com/support.html But I'll quote from their FAQ: -
http://www.battleye.com/support.html Global bans or just basic support questions. If you go here first, they probably already have the answer. If not, then they are probably the best people to be asking, anyway. Hope this is helpful to someone.
