You using Fraps? If so, ditch that and try Bandicam. No FPS loss for me using that with the nVidia GPU encode setup. They have a free demo. that will let you try it out: http://www.bandicam.com/ Has a big arse text banner overlayed on the video and is limited to 10 minutes in the demo, but you should try it anyway. -

+1. What he said ;-) What you see as a failing of private hives I see as an advantage. They can be unstable and/or not well maintained, but that is down to admins. I'm not sure what you mean by flexibility within the Public Hive. I'm assuming the flexibility to 'jump' servers at will. If so, we've been seeing the 'advantages' of that sort of flexibility already. -

+1 never had a bad compass, of course, you don't actually need one! Sun, moon, stars, clouds; need I say more? No, didn't think so! As to the maps, found a W map and an E map. Put them together and guess what? Yep, that's right. A complete map of Chernarus that only takes up one inventory slot. Pretty craft-y if I do say so myself.

My understanding is that BE doesn't check these files itself, but relies on the server passing the pass/fail info on to it. ATM the servers are not checking the .pbo files at all. Not even sure that setting the options in the config will overide that behaviour, yet, as I don't have a server to test on. People who are getting banned by BE ATM are those who have already got existing Global Bans from BE and it is just getting caught up now it is turned on in DayZ. Or they are using third-party hacks and programs. Either way, no sympathy for them! -

As already stated, pray to the bean gods. Then run really fast at the wall... any wall, and keep holding down that 'w' key as if your life depends on it. And then hope for the oft too common lag to magically teleport you into some other bugged out position on the map. I've had to do this we too many time already, but it's a lot quicker than waiting for your character to die of thirst.

It's still a running simulator. 'Run, run, as fast as you can, you can't catch me 'cause the Kos arseholes and script kiddies have already f'ed the server!' (So I suck at nursery rhymes! Sue me!)

Good ideas. As stated, this will require private server/private hive functionality. The rest is just feature requests that are already on the roadmap or will have to wait until we can begin to actively mod for DayZ. In the future, everything will be possible!

I'm assuming that you have gathered a lot of documentation on this problem, and now have verifiable proof thet it is indeed a bug in the game and not just, I don't know, maybe a server misconfiguration by some random admin who wouldn't know the difference between a config file or their arse. You would have also gone to the feedback tracker and searched through the posts there and added this insightful information to the post there so that it can be acted on imediately, or yesterday. So this post is really only here to let us know about this issue, because, like, server stability isn't listed anywhere as a known issue or anything. So thank you. We now know. And great first post, BTW. As first posts go, though, it's almost identical to most other first posts. Next time try to be a bit more creative, or -- now this is an idea way out there -- maybe read a few post first. Or heaven forbid, try using the search function! Welcome to the forums, have a nice stay! -
One, it wasn't a bug but a feature of the server. They just didn't turn the feature off or change the fact that as default there is no admin password. Not sure if it's fixed or not, as I don't have a need to try on a public server. To the OP: Report them to their top tier server provider. The behaviour is expressly forbidden in the current rules for server hosting. Their are no private servers and so no ability for admins to implement any sort of private rules.

No you don't! You came here and made this post specifically to ram your arse-backwards ideas down our throats. At least have the balls to be honest about it! There is no conspiracy here. BI, Rocket, and the rest of the dev team have been and are upfront about the problems with the current alpha and the ongoing issues that we are and will have to face. Get over it. No. It's. Not. The money for game development has to come from somewhere. It came from us, and we were more than willing to clamber over each othere to give it to them. Yes. Maybe. If we're very, very lucky. And they have agreed to take us on this rollercoaster ride with them. Remember that. We agreed to the terms and conditions at the door as we came in. Stop your bitching and whining, enjoy the ride with us, or get out of the line! They've made millions? I'm not personally made privvy to the commercial contracts of Steam, BI or Rocket and the devs, but I'm sure that they haven't personally been singed over any amount of millions. They won't be doing this for love, and will be pulling down a decent salary but they are entitled to make a living at what they do. Oh, and the bit about opening it up to modding; that's a definate. It's in the roadmap. But from there, the rest of that paragraph is just BS on your part. Oh, and if the game dies, they're in the same boat as anyone else whose job disappears. There is no gravy train. The money isn't personally theirs. There's no guaranteed 'bigger and better' things for them to move on to. So you can bet they are going to try their hardest to make this endeavour a success. They've got partners, children, pets relying on them to do so. First of all, your characterisation of modders as 'just ordinary dudes with little to no skill in programming'. You need to be slapped, repeatedly and hard! Yes we may be just ordinary dudes, and thank you for appreciating that, but I have never met a modder who hasn't got a titanic amout of skill in programming. They are able to do many of the things that people are paid to do programming wise, only they give away therir skills and code to the community for free, at a higher level than is required, and with turn around times that stagger credulity. But, get this: The DayZ mod was completely thought up, visualised and implemented by '...ordinary dudes with little to no skill in programming'. Yep. You got us there. Completely arses-backwards. What is really the case, now, is that they have the security of the money, they don't have to rely on future sales to fund the ongoing development, so now it can be all about the players. We're not going to get it all our own way, of course, but it's definately not only about future potential buyers. And, TBH, all the potential buyers who give a shit are already here, Just take a look around you. See. There's almost a million of us! Minus you, of course, but that's seriously no loss. So. We got the game that they promised us: bugs and other problems included. And if you want to go with the breakfast metaphor, we aren't cooking it ourselves, we're simply waiting for the chef to get our order perfect. We'll have to send it back to the kitchen a few times, but we have that time, and the chef will eventually get it right. So what if it takes 2 years or longer. We trust the chef. All known issues. All on the roadmap. 24/7 is a luxury. RL and real jobs, just like Rocket and the other devs. WOW! Sorry everyone, for feeding the troll, but it's one of those days where I just have to explode.

SA != MOD. MOD !=SA. They are different and a comparison of features between the two is no different from comparing the features of CoD vs. BF.
