I admire your optimism, but it cannot be solved as you think in the Public Hive, and any attempt to do so will perforce have to be in a way that will hinder legitimate players. It will always be an issue. Private hives are not a 'band-aid' as you also contend, and communities are only small in comparison. But to be honest, it's all a moot point. Our small 120+ player community will move to our own servers when we are able. Same as we do for the other ArmA games and the DayZmod presently. Whether you're personally happy with the seperation or not is not a factor in our deliberations.

I think that must be some place-holder code or leftover from ArmA23/ToH. I've got the exact same in my .DayZProfile, and I'd doubt we can be at the exact same spot on the map ATM. I'm betting that they have found a way to hack the server difficulty down to Recruit or something. Definately doesn't work like that on the Official servers. But, again, to the OP. Just learn to read the map. There aren't that many spawn locations and the landmarks are pretty easy to get a handle on. -
Rocket has also said that there will be modding later... which is also ok.

I fyou have servers in the History or Favourites tabs, you can get to them. Not much good as you'll get kicked as soon as the Steam Verification failes to connect, however. Only been an issue for me when those script kiddies were playing with their DDoS widgets.

What's wrong with just becoming familiar with the map. Hell, go to DayZDB and bone up on it. You don't need the game to be holding your hand here people. You already have the tools to 'cheat' at this stuff already. -

No imbalance. Just play on 1PP servers. See, v. simple solution. -
Shadow play requires a 600 series card to work. No biggy as Bandicam can do the same thing on older cards. Fraps is too much of a CPU hog and FPS limiter to be usefull as well as using its own codec for encoding. Bandicam can capture to YouTube ready mp4 files and is pretty light on CPU if you use the GPU encode.

Short answer, yes. It's a simple matter of ettiqute, something somewhat lacking in the younger generations, I find (yes I am that old!). Threads are routinely merged when they are substantially the same. This thread is a case in point. -

Agree with everything except this bit. KoS is even less understandable here. You can't take the risk that you'll damage a vital piece of gear. You should be thinking outside the box to get every advantage out of the game, not going for the quick option.

Agree. Should be a separate column and not reliant on the server name kludge we have now. Same with the server host. Should be a column and automatically populated.

Exactly. Those little squares that can't be filled meaning you'll have space you can't consolidate to be useful. To the computational side, look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Packing_problem. To summarise and over-simplify all that so I don't full geek on you, There is no shortcut to finding a packing that will work without trying every single packing possible. Not a problem when you have an empty inventory, but as it gets successively filled, the problem becomes more computationally expensive. And specifically, to quote the linked Wiki entry: As an aside, it it usually a problem given to first year programmer who think they are all that, as a not so gentle reminder that not everything is easier by computer. Also, it is similar to various scheduling problems. Sorry, looks like I went full geek anyway. -

Interesting idea, but too limiting. I'd settle for Alpha/Beta badges on the forum. We've basically got that with the 'join date' functionality, but a little brag graphic would be great. But, just playing with the idea, and violating all kinds of copyright and IP rights: -

Can only suggest you do all the things you shouldn't do if you don't want to wipe a character. Jump servers like a bitch. Especiall jumping alternately between official and non-official servers i.e. x-100- and x-100+ servers. This should do it in 20~25 jumps. Tell a buddy where you are, if youre able to work that out and have them do the deed. Other than that IDK.

Umm.. The RV engine was never meant to be a deathmatch engine. If you want a game with a great deathmatch engine, you're looking in the wrong place. RV3 is ArmA3, right. That engine is still in active development. I'm still subscribed to the dev channel for that and we're still getting daily patches to content and to the core engine. If DayZ had gone for that engine, they'd be spending most of their time playing catch up with changes in the engine and no time on actually producing the game. Do I think DayZ in RV3 would be better. 4th wall is a kludge to try and keep everyone playing on the same server. If you have such a small user base that you need this, then you're doing something wrong. Have 1PP/3PP locked servers, and who cares if you've split the player base. Each group will be as happy as pigs in sh... as long as you don't tell them that the other group exists ;)
