Would love to see some type of indicator to tell if the m4 is on Semi or full. Even if it was specifically on the gun model itself, we have a bipod that deploys, hopefully we get a fire selector switch that moves as well. Its a great way to end up dead when you go to spray a room CQC style and you get a bang click haha

Figure if the fireaxe isn't a one hit kill anymore, and I'm going to have to go 12 rounds with each zombie, may as well have a low profile melee on my pack. What do you plan on switching to? Or will you stick with ol' yellow red and black and go strictly for headshots?

Climbed up the smoke stake at N. firestation in electro, made it to the top just fine, went prone behind the stack and pulled out my mosin hoping to get a shot on the guys who were shooting at us from the super market, at this point my guy decided that the best way to pull out his rifle would be to standup and glide back 3 feet through the railing and fall to his death. Since then I don't touch anything that has a ladder. Another time I was sitting in a shed sorting kit when my character straight up began levitating straight into the air, once I reached about 30-40 ft the magic trick stopped and I went splat on the shed roof. Only time Ive ever thought I was killed by a hacker. -

Try and read my post again. Done? Okay, now maybe one more time. Done? Good. Never said anything about your playstyle being illegitimate, what I said was, you sound like another kid/man/woman/what ever complaining about being caught slippin', odds are you are getting killed for sitting in the same place every other player sits in to snipe/camp/assault. How long has this map been in rotation? since 2009? People know where to look for people by now, and if you are getting killed in a building with only one enter/exit then you probably deserve it for not hearing the tell tale click-clack of a player loading in. AND ANOTHER THING Never said staying in town was dumb, I said staying in town where OTHER PEOPLE tend to stay in town is stupid. ALSO Have you confirmed its a 100% ghost even once? People tend to log in and log out in buildings by the by. :D Have nice day. -

This post is AKA "I'm sitting on sniper hill/hospital roof/common camping position, and people keep finding me! Whyyyyyy" -
oh, I would be fine with a simple Semi or Auto indicator under the range display, I know I checked my weapon status with my right thumb for years haha, didn't have to bring my weapon up to the high port to see if it was on safe or not. I also love red orchestras method of ammunition check, pull the mag off, and get an approximation IE This mag feels half full, this mag feels almost empty. Unless you are using those window paned mags, you'll never have a definite count on a mag you haven't loaded yourself and counted your own shots from.

Weapons need to spawn with atleast 1 magazine in them.
CanadianBrooks replied to gibonez's topic in General Discussion
@lipemr Im basing my opinion off of 4 years in the military, civilian firearm ownership, and travels abroad. You can also note in my post that I specifically noted Chenarus as a country with gun control, so if Chenarus is a former Soviet state, its importation and weapon handling laws would be reflective of the average former USSR country, and from my understanding those laws are extremely strict, what better way to control a populace than by removing its access to weapons it could use to over throw the government. Secondly, lets say for arguments sake that Chenarus is more of an Eastern NATO country, much like the C.R, Bulgaria or Romania, then it would also fall under the importing and weapon handling laws that most eastern NATO/EU countries succumb to, and those laws are once again, extremely strict on the storage of weapons. Please don't assume that I think every other country is like my country, when you do not know me at all. If I assumed every country had the same restricted firearms laws that Canada has, I would be requesting that Chenarus have no automatic weapons and no magazines that load past five rounds (They are obtainable in Canada, only the loading of ammunition past 5 rounds in most semi-automatic hunting rifles is illegal.). -
Pistols should have a chance to spawn with magazines

Weapons need to spawn with atleast 1 magazine in them.
CanadianBrooks replied to gibonez's topic in General Discussion
If the argument is "Gun owners keep their magazines and ammunition near or with their firearms. Thats how it really works." I want proper gun storage. All long barrel rifles and shot guns will be secured in a gun locker or vault in the case of a military spawn, with steel cable ran through the trigger guard and bolts kept separate in a bolt box locked in a safe. Handguns should be secured in a home safe or lock box with trigger locks placed in the trigger guard. I know alot of American players will have a hard time wrapping your heads around this much security, but you go to any other 1st or 2nd world country that enforces gun control and you find these stipulations in place. Image the QQ threads when players have to carry around bolt cutters and hack saw just to get a 9mm :D -

My First Bandit Kill On Standalone
CanadianBrooks replied to I Pro Devon's topic in General Discussion
nah I play like a sociopathic murderer in dayz because I can't in real life :) -
Does anyone else live by a "code" on DayZ? This is coming from the mind of a bandit/hunter, yes I KoS, but only those who take what I consider assumed risks. Take for example the "code" my squad and I like to apply to our DayZ gameplay... 1. Don't shoot freshies... unless they decide to play Mike Tysons punchout or B-Line to the body of someone we just killed. 2. The walking deads law of "Claimed." Loot whoring can be frusterating when playing with a squad in DayZ, and sometimes you need to get back to school yard basics with "called it." 3. Ill Shoot anyone who can shoot me back. Here is where I expect the grief to come from, but I'm going to post it anyways. I like PVP, and I also assume the risks that come with PVP. I like to look at the world with the opinion that if you pick up a gun, you have now left the realm of freshspawn and have assumed the risks that come with the ability to go from tshirt and jeans to full kit with one bullet to some one elses head. Your in a high traffic area with a gun? I assume you are not a hero and are there waiting for moments of opportunity. Do I shoot every single guy I see with a gun? No. Every Single guy I see with MilKit? Yes. Do I get all crybaby when some one shoots me on sight? Nope. I assumed the risk of being shot the moment I put something on my left shoulder and went to an area where I can encounter other players. 4. Don't torture freshspawns. I absolutely hate when other players sit on the coast, kneecap fresh spawns, patch them up and leave them to their fate. Same goes for handcuffing and poisoning, or anyother action that would give a slow death to someone with nothing more than a flashlight. I dont think these actions should be banned from the game, but I like to put some pride into my work and at least kill people who can kill me back. 5. Take pride in your work! Dont go over direct comms and talk shit to the player you just killed (or killed you), it just takes the honour out of the kill IMO. In fact the other day we encountered a player sneaking up on our sniper, he was gut shot and knocked out (not killed) the player came over comms when he heard our footsteps and said "Good shot guys, take what you want and kill me you deserve it." We RESPECTED him because he showed us RESPECT and we bandaged him, gave him some saline, put his gun a few feet away (sans ammo) and told him we were leaving. There was no point in killing him, so we didn't. We got the rush of combat and rewarded our worthy foe with a second chance. 6. Don't Hide Bodies. I personally find this to be a cheap gameplay mechanic, until they add in the ability to drag a body and hide it a-la splinter cell, you shouldn't magically be able to bury a 190 lbs man in military kit into the roof of a hospital or the pavement of a road. It adds a realism and risk factor that I find increases gameplay potential and fun. I want to PVP, why deny the enemy the resources to offer me a challenge? Rarely do I even take kit off of a body unless they have something I need. IE weapon sights, med supplies, etc. 7. Don't get attached to your kit. If you want to play this game for the PVP, get used to two things "Ruined" and "You are Dead." Kit comes and goes in DayZ, always remember that you are only one bullet away from full gear at all times. All in all I can say try and play this game like you are the Predator, hunt for honour and the sport of it, don't belittle yourself by killing the helpless, don't toy with your prey and always have fun, even in death! ALSO CAN WE GET SOME TYPE OF TROPHY SYSTEM DEVS JEBUS! LET ME HAVE MY HUMAN EAR NECKLACE!!!! See you on the battlefield forums, -Infidel.

With time an addition of a stamina system combined with a direct correlation of run speed to ground incline to stamina fatigue will most likely be implemented. Until then choose your ground wisely young skywalker.

I personally find it economical to leave all my high value loot with some friends, I.E Med supplies, ammo cases, scopes etc and run into town with an empty mountain backpack, everyones empty canteens and maybe a pistol or m4 depending. That way my friends have access to my rare loot if they get ambushed or I die, and I have room to bring back food and drink for everyone. That way we have done two things, we've only removed 1/6 of our fighting force from the battle and the runner can also act as a low risk high reward scout in town.

My First Bandit Kill On Standalone
CanadianBrooks replied to I Pro Devon's topic in General Discussion
@Hoodlumcorp You need to get out of sunshine and fairy dust land. This game isn't set in a civilized world, its the damned wild west. The factors of lying and trust are two main components, if we were all bound to a code of honour that triggered some type of "friendly fire off" switch then this game would lack what makes it beautiful. The OP did a pretty fucked up thing, he lied, however the guy who lost his kit fucked up himself by trusting a complete stranger within oh, 30 seconds of meeting him? Would you walk up to some guy on the street and hand him the keys to your car, a wallet full of cash and you watch and be like "Hey man, you look alright, dont steal these while I go take a piss." Nope. So why do you feel that someone should have to act that way here? People need to wrap their heads around the fact that this is a POST APOCALYPTIC scenario! The rules that bind us as a community and civilization are now gone. It's survival of the fittest out there and the OP was the alpha in this situation. -
@PTK if the needs of the group out weigh the needs of the individual then we will adjust accordingly, we share food, ammo and weapons and have no problem doing supply runs for each other, but when we have all the essentials the little things become a matter of first come first serve. Damaged pants and we come across pristine? Claimed. etc. etc. @Shaeg So we should head to the designated PVP town and only shoot people marked with the PVP strobe, yes? I'm beginning to feel that you are trying to pick apart our play style because it offends you on some personal or fundamental level. We go where the traffic is and we tend to refrain from killing those in the middle of acquiring mid level loot, see the points I made in reference to not killing fresh spawns as well as not hiding bodies. By leaving the corpses of full kitted players we have just created more high level loot in the middle of electro than a hero could give to a bambi, the onus is just on the fresh spawn to work up the guts to run the gauntlet and grab that loot. You may enjoy hunting bambi bandits, which is great. Anyone we come across hanging around the hills of Kamy we kill, there is no challenge in killing the new, but if you have made the run to an airstrip, and are confident enough to walk into a high pop server in a high traffic town, you NEED to assume that you are in a war zone. The only laws of Chenarus are written in blood and gunpowder.

Is the item damage mechanic useful ?
CanadianBrooks replied to gibonez's topic in General Discussion
Maybe civvie made scopes you buy at basspro, but I expect any scope you find on a mil base to meet milspec standards. Can't have scopes breaking left right and center leaking iridium everywhere can we? -
All I can say if reference the 2nd half of point 3. Do we kill everyone with a weapon? No. Also, "no apparent reason" isn't correct. We have our reasons, and our reasons are the joy of the hunt. Why do you play videogames? No apparent reason apparently.

Im surprised that this thread hasn't been demolished with "n00b KoS Fuggot!!!!!1!111!" posts, and that really gives me some hope that people are starting to accept that because you follow one set of rules or guidelines doesn't mean others have to! (Or in some peoples cases you follow what ever rules suit you the most at that paticular time, which is also awesome.)
-
To add to ComikZ post, While the hot spots have changed, the most organized groups I have encountered seem to still reside in Electro and NWAF, perhaps this is due to the fact that the spawns are farther, they seek out more of a risk/challenge?
-
Sounds like you encountered some KoS trolls, I wouldnt waste my ammo on you personally. Now if you had some gear and a gun, well its your own fault for not assuming that someone else may want that gun or your gear, is it not? EDIT: A key thing to look at here in KoS is the S. SIGHT. You were SEEN. This is an apocalyptic no hold barred world we play in. You're not out for a stroll down main street. Don't want to loose what you've got? Play tactically, move with purpose, planning and preparation. A key word I've used this entire post is ASSUME. ASSUME that behind every corner there may be someone desperate enough to take what you have. ASSUME that by looking a certain way you may be considered a threat. ASSUME that some one else is out there and they may be carrying bad intentions.

The one problem I have with NIGHT...
CanadianBrooks replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in General Discussion
The lack of residual light cast from a torch makes me not play night servers, just like the lack of peripheral vision stops me from playing 1pp (Not to go off topic), hopefully with time, these thing will be sorted out, until then stick with what makes the game enjoyable I suppose and avoid what makes it not.
