We live for the hunt, not your gear, not your gun, not your food drink or bandages. We don't enjoy handing out food or fixing broken legs, we enjoy the rush of hearing the snap of a close round, the grunt of our comrads taking a round to the plate and the risk of loosing it all. The majority of my group consists of ex-US/Canadian military, it is rare to find anything that will give us a rush anymore, as most vets will tell you. The "perma" death that DayZ offers seems to trigger that response in alot of us and it is exhilarating. You serve a code that protects the weak, and if that gives you happiness and makes your DayZ experience fun, then more power to you.

As-50_Thermal and MP5K [ Standalone ]

I just hope that any type of heavy weapon has an effect on stamina. Try bushbashing with a Carl G or an M249 for a few kilometers and then tell me you'd like to carry a .50 cal all day. There is a reason most military's have adopted 5.56 and 7.62, they are light enough to hump around all day and have more than 3 mags worth of ammo at a time. I find alot of kids don't fully appreciate how freaking heavy squad weapons and anti material rifles are, and how far 5km is with 70lbs of kit on your back. -

Grab a gas lantern and some fuel, turn it on and put it down on the floor of what ever building your looting. Lights the whole place up and frees your hands to use a weapon. -
Hey to each their own is what makes this game so damn enjoyable. More often than not we choose not to reveal our positions or waste ammo on that guy who has a hoodie on with an sks/mosin on his shoulder but we don't bind ourself to a rule that stops us from shooting him if the situation calls for it. Server just reset and you are in the firestation with civvie clothes and a civvie gun? Do your business and take off. We see you hanging around town or posting up in a window/ on a roof? Doubt your stargazing. As for MilKit, you are either a fellow hunter, a bandit, a hero or a survivour, doesnt matter to us, they all bleed red :D

The motorcycle helmet is impractical for certain roles IMO. Off in the woods providing overwatch for a squad in town? A nice big round off green/black/red/blue/white target to aim at for counter snipers. Working with a squad on a fullpop server? Wearing a head dress that everyone else wears messes with IFF. I personally like two head dresses, 1. Camo Bandana with Wolf Mask 2. Burlap sack glitch with aviators for maximum levels of Texas Chainsaw leatherface appeal. Especially when running KoS ops on milkit players in Electro/Barenzino/Airfields

Any way to raid a military jail with armed people in it?
CanadianBrooks replied to exomonkeyman's topic in General Discussion
Fortune favours the bold. The tactics used in the posted video work on 3pp servers as well, in fact Ive had multiple encounters in jailhouses where the guy upstairs in using 3pp to see down the stairs, see's myself or my squad breaching the stairs, forgets he is in 3pp and dumps his load into the floor in front of him before he can actually "see" us to hit us. Alot of players forget that when in 3pp your aiming dot is lower than your actual aim point and plug round into the ground. You can take away 3 options for a jail raid, 1.Wait them out. Patience is a virtue in this game, and the majority of kills my squad racks up (and the majority of deaths we suffer) come from a lack of patience. Go still and out camp the camper if you have to, the worst thing that can happen is they combat log, and you loose some time. Would you rather loose 15-20min in a stand off or 2 hours of looting? 2. Out position them. If you have the equipment (pref LRS, PU/ACOG works.) Move to a position of advantage, the jails have windows on the 2nd floor for a reason, and you'll notice most airfields are designed to offer a sight line into every building to balance defended positions. NEAF? Go to the NE corner with an LRS to hit the W Jail, go farther east towards the radio tower to hit the E Jail/ ATC. Balota? The entire N side of the airstrip is a snipers wet dream, use the terrain to gain the advantage and lay down some lead. NWAF is the trickiest IMO, but there are hills to be used, its just a matter of finding the sweet spots. 3. My personal fav. Storm the stairs. If you lack the patience or the equipment to execute step 1 or 2, then you are left with a straight up the gut breech. If you approach the situation in a smooth manner, IE checking the gap between the stairs to see if they are camping the 6 oclock, Q/E Leaning the railings and slicing the pie on the way up, it isn't that hard to do a frontal assault, on 3pp you can make it about 2/3 of the way up the stairs without exposing yourself to gun shots (They will see you, they wont be able to hit you unless they move forward exposing themselves.) My movements on the stairs consist of having my rifle at the ready and walking the first 3-4 steps facing forward to see if I can spot anyone at the top near the window, if the window is clear I will begin to swing left to see the bunk room and continue the swing left until I am backing up the stairs looking into the back corner, this is high risk but if executed correctly you will close the gap on the playing field that gives them the advantage. 4. Run away!!!!! Not an option for myself personally because Im a bloodthirsty bandit, but if you have found yourself attached to your gear why risk it for a jail that had already been looted? Hope this helps! See you at the airstrip -Infidel -
Is the item damage mechanic useful ?
CanadianBrooks replied to gibonez's topic in General Discussion
I'd like to throw in a personal hate... Scope damage. Im sure anyone here with a military background, or even a weapons handling background will agree that the amount of "broken" scopes you find lying around airfields and milspawns is rediculous. I can understand scopes being damaged if they are on someones person when they are shot (In fact, if you have say, a PU scope in your jacket, some 7.62x51, and a can of food, and are shot the scope should have the highest chance of being ruined/damaged due to its size in comparison to the other objects, but I digress...) but finding damaged/bad damaged PU/ACOG/LRS/RDS is just not likely. After 4 years of swamp stomping through the Canadian woods with an Elcan sight and a tour to Afghanistan, the only scope Ive ever seen crack was an American ACOG that was ran over by an ASUV, and even then the frame cracked not the lens. So that's my two cents, everything else I can deal with, Blood ruins clothing/Food/Drink maybe we have a case of the Walking Dead where everyone is already infected and some type of fluid swapping can lead to a bad case of the zombles? -
Logged out in house, fell trough floor and now im stuck!
CanadianBrooks replied to kim's topic in Troubleshooting
Don't know if this has been said yet, but I had the same thing happen and I got out by going as close as possible to a wall that faced outside (not a stairwell) then I sat (f3) with logged out, and then logged back in. When you log in your character will revert back to standing from the seated position about 2-2 1/2 feet behind where you sat, this should put you outside! Hope it helps! -
I like to go by the rule "If you need to ask if you're a bandit, you probably are."

Is the LRS really as rare as people say it is?
CanadianBrooks replied to TheWizard14's topic in General Discussion
Infidels fool-proof guide to finding a Pristine/Worn LRS!!!!!! Step 1. Find yourself a tool to do a bit of the ol' blood spreading. Step 2. Go on a populated server Step 3. Head to the Dam north of Electro** IMPORTANT STEP Step 4. Wait until you hear Mosin shots on top of sniper hill Step 5. Go up the northern slope of SH and then down the south slope Step 6. Repeat until you find the sniper Step 7. Kill the sniper!!!!! Step 8. ???? Step 9. LRS PROFITZZZZZZZ seriously though, my squad has 5 LRS in one backpack to throw around just from stalking snipers, most of which we find so into their scopes we can kill them with an axe and not make any noise. You don't even have to feel bad about killing them, as they are 9/10 times KoS Bambi hunters :D -
Just want to raise a can of Kvass to whomever climbed on to the roof of the Electro hospital yesterday, in nothing but their underwear and holding a fire extinguisher and then proceeded to completely annihilate a squad of 5 Mil-Kit campers in a fury of blood, guts and melee! Was quite the treat for my squad as we were counter sniping these guys to just see you walk in like John Wayne and start K.Oing guys left right and center. Hope other players can take inspiration from this, just because you are a fresh spawn doesn't mean you arn't 5 minutes away from full kit, all you need is a hard object you can swing, two feet and a heart beat. EDIT: Should also add that these guys got Karma slapped, as they were standing on the very top roof sniping fresh spawns that ran in from the east.

Please post what server and AO your "expert" team will be in. My amateur team needs target practice :D

has anyone else noticed a drastic increase in Desync the last few days?
-
Hey, its alpha, this could easily just be a situation of desync or lag, but you ever get the feeling that something is up? So here's the situation. While preforming bandit operations in Electro, (Yes we were KOSing, no we were not shooting Bambis.) my squad of 4 took up positions on the northern part of sniper hill, I was engaged in over watch, standard load out of Mosin, comp, bipod and LRS, our rifleman and medic were positioned on little sniper and we had a runner near the new police station. After awhile of watching the town, I spot contacts, two times Mil-Kit rifle men on the roof of the hospital, engaging some one in the school, our runner heads to the outside ladder, I range in my scope, tick tick tick first guy down, second guy retreats to the stairwell to bandage. Due to a miscommunication on my part (I didn't report the second contact as dead.) our runner climbs up the ladder, grabs the Mosin off the dead contact and is quickly killed by the remaining target in the stairwell, Im assuming the target thinks it was our runner who shot his friend so he moves back out to the roof, where I once again hit him with a round, so this is the 2nd round this guy has taken center mass from a Mosin, I'm figuring at this point something is up, but maybe with the resent patch damages have been adjusted at distance (Shooting at 600m) and he manages to retreat back into the stairwell where he is flanked by the remainder of my squad and gunned down. THIS IS WHERE IT GETS SKETCHY My team loots the bodies, gets off the X and heads north while I continue over watch, not one minute later there are two fellows on the roof, looting the dead bodies and they go from fresh spawn kit to instant full Mil-Kit, I try my best to get a screen shot of this and then put shots on the bodies, the first target takes 3 rounds, one to the legs and two to the body, and still manages to crawl around the corner of the stairwell. The second guy, who has now teleported from the northern part of the roof to the top of the stairwell gets two shots to the brand new Kevlar, runs around and then logs. However instead of the usual sit down 30 seconds log, he sits and disappears instantly. This leads to me running north and logging out of fear of a hacker with teleporting and possible ESP hacks. So here is my question, could this have been a case of some one abusing a godmode/dupping script of some sort or could they just be desync'd? I know i wasn't experiencing lag as my bullets were registering almost instant splash on the targets. Any ideas? EDIT: Im new to the forums so I don't know how to attach the screen shot sorry!
