Found Gorka E Military Helmet + Visor in one run
irishroy replied to TheWizard14's topic in General Discussion
wait, wait, maybe it is bulletproof? http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/2gzj58/the_new_gorka_e_military_helmet_is_awesome/ but maybe the story is a lie, noone knows xD -
Found Gorka E Military Helmet + Visor in one run
irishroy replied to TheWizard14's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, but to be honest, I prefer the helmet without the visor. With the visor it looks so "broad". Gasmask + MASKA-helmet looks very bandit-like and still awesome, too ;) (I guess we will be able to have a gas-mask with this helmet, because special-forces-helmet, etc. etc.) EDIT: I have heard the MASKA-helmet offers no protection against any bullet. Is that true? -
My friends shoot anyone who is geared ...

^this^ Real bandits handcuff you, take important stuff off, and then force you to drop your pants and run away. -
Okidoki. I found 1 tent. In the large appartment-buildings in the "skyscraper-city" above Cherno (Called "Dubky") They spawn IN the rooms, like desinfactant-sprays & clothes do, too. So "just" search through all the big towers :D But when 2-3 people go for 1 tower, they can search relatively organized and quickly. As already said a bit: when I get off the ladder, I hit W 2x very fast and aim at the exit. You "just" (again, "just") need the right timing.

I have EXACTLY the same hobo-stove at home for LARP :D Ikea knife&fork-dryer or how it's called xD IDEA: Stone-tomahawk Sticks / fire-wood + rope + hacksaw + stone

what I found: 2x M4-ammo (brown cardbox) TTsKO-pants pristine1x Tactical Bacon1x silverish box of Mosin-ammolots of canned food. Maybe this camp is already "prepared" for the loot-economy, when canned food&Co. might become "super-rare" in civilian spawns...? (= less canned food, more need for survival and hunting. Canned food = mulitary "luxury"? ) But the camp is very dangerous xD It lies in a valley with 2 mountain-ridges on both sides. Sniper's Paradise

one some servers they work, on some servers they don't work :D just look @ the server's name. if there stands smth. like "persistence" or "persistence enabled" they work

Servers restarting far too often.. sometimes 2-3 times in an hour ?
irishroy replied to Irish.'s topic in General Discussion
happened to me and some guys yesterday, too. You couldn't even make a proper fireplace and cook meat without worrying if it will be lost... ;) -
Nono. above NWAF there has alwys been a tent-city. the balota-tent-city is moved to ~011 082 on this map http://dayzdb.com/map/chernarusplus#5.011.085 :D http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/2gr2ts/new_military_base_near_by_myshkino/

But it should take some time. I mean, they are relatively dumb, if you think of 08/15-Zombies or infected: Only basic-movement (walking on arms and legs, normal walking) + "must-eat-braiiiiinsss!" So when you close/lock a door, it should take them 30-1-2 minutes, maybe?

hey, i got a GTX660 OC and the i5 3570K, too ;) On medium-low I get 30-80 FPS (sometimes it stutters a bit in Novo and bigger cities ;) )

Third Person View should be Over-the-Shoulder, NOT a bird's eye view.
irishroy replied to Rags!'s topic in General Discussion
In fact, this game will offer possibilities for casual-gamers. And sorry, but the majority of the players play on regular-servers ;) -
Third Person View should be Over-the-Shoulder, NOT a bird's eye view.
irishroy replied to Rags!'s topic in General Discussion
and...? Many people (including me) play games "casually". 3rd Person view is for the regular servers, more "layed back" gameplay _______________________________________________________ TBH, I don't understand the whole 3rd- VS 1rst-person-fight. The players, who want to play DayZ very seriously, who want "fair" and rather intense firefights, can play on Hardcore-servers. Noone is interrupting their fun at all. But when you play on regular servers, you kinda have to deal with players, who have a different approach to the game then hardcore-players. DayZ is played by different players. And (sadly or luckily, you decide) casual players dominate the crowd in terms of numbers. I think trying to force the players to play in a certain way is not a really kind/good approach. DayZ should stay as open/sandbox-like as possible. (There was a thread a while back with a pretty good suggestion IMO. when going fthird-person, you only see, what you would see with first-person. So when you try to watch around the corner or over a wall, you will not see the "enemy" (eben though he IS there), because you can't see him with first-person) I think, I see your thoughts. You want to give third- and first-person-view ad- and dis-advantages? The problem is that with your suggestion, 3-person-view looses quite some "uses", i.e. having a bigger FoV for landscape- or groupscreenshots, etc. -
I want a bigger model (just 10-15%) Dayum, a machete :3

No problemo, I just quote Chris t. here:

russian revolver Nagant 1895..? ;) (the only "real" suppressable revolver, because when shooting the drum is pressed against the barrel, so all the gas&air go through the barrel and not also around the ammo-drum itself)
-
I don't know, if it has already been brought up, and maybe this isn't the right place to suggest it, but: What about the MG4? It's a german LMG, fires the same ammo as the M4&AK101. Germany is closer to the east than the US, and when there's already a german SMG, why not a LMG?

Adding giant rugs to look like trash in urban enviroments.

While I love this idea, I also see the problem with it.... Encouraging long-range-killing, which is far worse than usual KoS.... So even though I (myself) like this idea, I say "no", because I am aware of the problems it would bring. (but Chris Torchia already said: The DEVs want to reduce and prevent long-range-kill-on-sight-sniping. They will not put in the SVD or any other "big" sniperrifle, until global-loot works. So I guess they won't put this in either, sadly (or "luckily?) ) ;) -
You underestimate how many names, ideas and concepts were made by "just for shitz'n giggles" ;)

which could be countered by wearing a gas-mask or the white respirator ;)
-
or stick it in the front/side between belly/hip and pants/belt (like these guys in several movies) with the risk of shooting your balls off/in the leg xDD
-
again. you will most likely NOT find a vehicle ready-to-go. You'll need to find parts like wheels/tires, fuel, doors, etc. etc. and when you did a lot of work, 1 sniper-guy should be able to kill the vehicle (and the passengers) TOTALLY with 1 bullet?
-
make this more like max brooks zombie survival guide!
irishroy replied to Mangina's topic in Suggestions
Dean Hall already said in a video of the PAX-interview: The DEVs work on a new renderer-system, where the server checks, if it's worth being rendered. This will save lots of CPU-work, because right now every fireaxe in every firefighter-house in 2km distance is being rendered, you could say. with the new renderer the server could make a virtual Zombie-horde travelling through the map. And when the virtual horde comes near a player/important thing, the server will make the horde "real" and it will be rendered for player. -
we will probably not have tanks for a long time. and IF we will have tanks, they will be veery hard to find parts for, hard to build it together. and when you did all the work for a tank, a pesky lousy sniper should be able to cripple the tank with 1 bullet? Man, this would be a Sysiphos-like work :D ANY .50 cal round is already "overpowered" enough because of it's size and impact force. No need to make it even stronger. Also the FPS-russia-guy will have probably packed some other explosives into the car, because I can hardly imagine a car will blow up like this, if you shoot the front end. (but I am not sure tho)
-
I really love this idea ;) Hoewever it has been suggested. Already 2-3 times, i think. Nevertheless, this would be just awesome. But my thoughts in this are: If no Zed wuill attack you this is too strong or too "easy". Make it so that when it rains the player gets wet, so the guts&blood will be slowly washed off. Maybe this would also only work, when the player is not sprinting, but just jogging or walking normally. We should also be able to "prepare" a coat for example. Like rub guts, etc. Over it and Then store it somewhere in a plasticbag or plastic container. Then, when you need to go through a zombie-infested Area you could just wear the coat AS a Kind of Poncho or overcoat. I can see this work, but only if it's tweaked here and there. EDIT: why the sudden hate? I think we know that right now we have infected. But Zeds will are always subject to change, so this idea might become "right" or important later on. Who knows
