Ponchos and Dusters are my element :D And the DEVs somewhere already said: They will not implement dusters, coats, ponchos, leg-holsters, etc., because this would cause clipping issues (like when walking, moving the arms, etc. etc.). But once the engine is better/different, and they made a good anti-cipping-detection-system, they will do this, I'm very sure. (just look: Chris Torchia seems to be a western-fan to a certain point (a Cowboy-hat, leather jacket, repeater were added. He did the Derringer by himself, because it's his favourite gun, if I remember it right)) P.S. Once Ponchos are implemened, we need following animations. Putting the Poncho up when accessing gear that is under the poncho (=vest or jacket/t-shirt, etc.) and then putting it down again. Why? Because of reasons. Sure, these animations would cost time, etc. etc. But the profit we get from these animations out-weighs the disadvantage by far.

colt python vs repeater for cherno killing
irishroy replied to Osprey98's topic in General Discussion
really? that's new (for me), because I'm almost 99.9% sure the dmg was nerfed quite hard. I know shotties tend to be a bit bugged from time to time, where only partially shots are registered, and thus, the shottie only deals like 40% of the actual damage. But it's good to see the shotgun works as intended! -
NOPE. IMAGINE you would experience all this. Would this be "fun"? 100% NOT. sorry, but this suggestion... (if you can exit/respawn any time when doing these things you describe, it's OK. but if not (and you did not mention being able to cancel this "experience"..) ==> (a bit harsh, but I think it get's the point across. Not meant offensive, but just.. just..) and before any super-rare medicine is added, we should be able to collect/farm herbs and plants, which do work the same way as medicine (just a bit "weaker" in the effect). For example birches. You can tap a birch-tree and drink the birch-water/"juice". Willow-tree-bark works the same as Aspirin. Using wet/fresh bark and wrap it around limbs. When the bark dries, it also becomes a lot harder and stiffer, thus stabilizing the arm/leg. Edit: Sorry if I overreaced, but just... just.... *gnaaaargh* *bbrrrrplooolbldk*

why not ? But... I'm sure 1 day after a camper is implemented, some people will "camp" in the wilderness, cook, and blue smoke will rise from the camper-chimney... and Dean hall will sit handcuffed in the middle of the road between cherno and electro with a Colt 1911 and some handcuff-keys in front of him.

colt python vs repeater for cherno killing
irishroy replied to Osprey98's topic in General Discussion
the thing is: there is no velocity-difference between the revolver- or repeater-fired bullets. (actually: longer barrel = more accuracy & higher velocity. Higher velocity => higher damage dayz-wise) The Reaper holds 11 rounds and is more accurate. The Revolver holds 6 bullets, fires a lot faster, and is also decently accurate. IMO, I'd throw away the mp133, and stick with the revolver+repeater. The reolver can kil in CQC with 1 bullet to the head, too. 2-3 shots and the enemy is dead for sure. Shotgun-damage was nerfed by -x10 with the last patch. the dmg-value went down from 60 to 6. Try to kill a player with the shotgun now, and you'll see what I mean. (there is even an own thread about this "feature"/problem). -
Mare's Leg, fuck yeah! ;)

Nope. has been suggested many times already, and my opnion is/was always the same: IMO, restricitons and decisions make DayZ unique and keep it interesting in the long run. You can take an M4/AKM/ + Mosin/B95 and you are geared for CQC-medium-range fights, and for long-range-KillOnSight-Sniping with the Mosin. Of course it is "cool" to be geared for every occasion and problem. But that "coolness" and "joy" is temporary limited. It also becomes boring after some time, from my point of view. Wouldn't it be more interesting to stick with the Mosin, for example? You could scout and watch cities, and when going in, you need to be more careful and maybe carry a pistol/sawn off shotgun. Or you decide to go with a SKS/M4/AKM, etc. You are decent at med-range, and you can go into cities and also "rule" in CQC-fights. But you have to avoid large open areas, and stick to the woods, etc., because you can not fight back Mosins effient enough with an M4. yoyo P.S. If you want to carry 2 weapons, you can. You receive the disadvantage of running slower, but you have the advantage of having 2 weapons for every range.

ripping out entire sleeves of shirts, jackets or cut off "legs" of pants. BeefBacon. As concerned as you are about not having hoods, I'm concerned about rolling up sleeves... :D puting up sleeves would add increase the Role-playability of a WildWest-gunslinger. and we all know: DayZ's true meaning is a cowboy-gunslinger-simulator during a Zombie-apocalypse. (Chest-holster, leather pimp shoes, leather-jacket/shirt, cowboy-hat, boar-skin-backpack, double barrel shotgun, Repeater/Winchester 92 and a Magnum)

well, what should I say ;) off-topic, but cool:

maybe switch out the EVGA for the ASUS Strix version. The ASUS needs less energy (only has 1 8 pin-slot) and has the "ability" to turn off the fans, when the GPU isn't being used. So when you are on the Desktop, writing smth. browsing the intranet, youtube, etc., your GPU-fans are not turned on. This makes the Strix even less energy-hungry. i DUNNO YOUR CPU, but I have the i5 3570K, which is (still) considered one of the best gaming-allrounderr-CPUs, simply bcause it's relatively "cheap", while still has enough Horsepower :p (if the i5 3570K is cheaper than your CPU, you might take a look at it)

Double deagle (I think) is "silly"..? The recoilkick, may be as hard as Clint Eastwood's Mule may kick when you laugh about him, but 2x 44mag or even 2x 50AE...

I have read somewhere that implementing Bicycles (and probably Motorbikes, too) is harder to do than "simple" 4-wheeled-cars. (according to a DEV-text on reddit some months ago) So I'd go for a typical jeep "CJ"-style (maybe in different colours, too, so 1 door is brown, the other one blue or green, etc. and then let us spraypaint the parts)

Dillinger's 1911: ;)
-
not really ;) they are fairly common now, but maybe will get harder to find in the future. (Every new introduced items spawns more often, so more people find it and more people are able to detect bugs, etc.)
-
I wore no moto-helmet, and a Zombie hit me 1x. And I insta-died from this. Since then, I always try to wear a moto-helmet xDD Better to be safe.
-
I have heard that Motorhelmet is best against melee-knockout/Shock
-
Good idea. In german we say: "Willst du die straße rocken, steck die Hose in die Socken" (Wanna rock the streets, put the pants in the socks" But maybe let us also be able to roll of sleeves of jackets and shirts, etc. or rip out sleeves (like the Jacket from Mad Max)

I know that the dmg is made up by the ammo-type and the velocity, but I am sure the DEVs somewhere in a changelog said, they made the sawn off variant have abigger spread, and little more dmg..
-
sawn off shottie has more dmg (by default) than the normal version and the MP-133, too. So that may be the reason why you were able to kill civ. zombies fairly reliable.

Steyr AUG: Use the A3 and not the A1 version

The DEVs somewhere said, they will NOW implement this version, and later on more versions :) EDIT: http://dayzdev.tumblr.com/ -
