The Community's List of Suggested Weapons for Dayz Standalone (Version: 1.29)

I don't know how to say, but well. Quite a big part of the Community wants weapons, which: - fit the scenario/history/backround - won't mess up the gameplay Also civilian weapons are preferred over military special-gear. I could see a .50-cal in DayZ, and it could work, if sniping is influenced by wind, weather, etc. and if the Ammo would rare enough to find, the weapon get's dirty, etc. etc. IMO, the priority for adding firearms should be: - History and Backround (no typical american firearms, if eastern "counterparts" exist. for example Rem.870 <=> MP-153 ;) ) - Gameplay and Balance (and sometimes realism must be screwed over to maintain fairness and fun in the game) - Far more civilian firearms than mil. weapons (like a ratio from 1:3 or even 1:6 for milgear : civilgear) I don't really know you, so don't be angry ;) You could either be a "little kiddo", who wants "his" favourite gun in the game to camp, etc. If this is your intention, I will be against this ;) But if you know, what the DEVs and the biggest part of the Community want, and understand, that smth. like your wish can "only" be implemented later on, when the game's balanced is changed to accept such a thing, then it's cool to suggest a gun like this. ;) However, smth. like your rifle in the current game is a totally utterly NO-GO (for me personally) (People could be sniped from far far away, because there is only bullet-drop, which can be countered by the chernarusplus-map and zeroing. If ammo wasn't hard enough to find, people would just camp in the woods on the hills around a town, and DayZ would turn into a hard camp-fest) -

Yeah, they should focus on persistent storage xD It seems like they will implement tents as storage, even though they somewhere said, that they want to test persistent objects with backpacks first... (IMO, persistent backpacks would be enough storage for the casual gamer. Set up 1-3 backpacks full of supplies in the wilderness and you're set) -

why not the Mosin, SKS and B95, too? (Sawn off Mosin aka Obrez is world-wide-known, and sawn off B95-stats are in the gamefiles already) -

one month of idling is over. Now that the CZ is confirmed, and that we probably will be able fit a Bipod and Scope on it, I hope the B95 won't be forgotten. Also I wanted to mention (again) the "Hunting_Scope12x", which is in the gamefiles for quite some time now. I don't give up the hope xD An optic for the B95 would be really really useful, since every rifle out there got at least 1 scope (Mosin, SKS, M4, AKM, SKS Well, not the Ruger10/22, but.....) -
Damn, I really REALLY hope the "12x-Hunting_scope", (which is in the gamefiles already) will not be CZ-527-only, but also for the Blaze 95. I mean, both guns are hunting rifles.... And maybe the Hunting-scope should fit on both hunting rifles...? Otherwise we have a problem...

I think things like this will come (At least a use for raincoats, bubble-goose-jackets, ponchos,etc. to protect you from rain&cold weather. Also gas-masks being useful for gas-grenades or toxic areas) However, shoes would be a bit too over-the-top (4 me personally. Because I like to wear white leather-shoes in the apocalypse (stay classy'n shit) ) I'm not sure about ballistic masks. Yeah, they look cool and intimidating and what now. But when a bullet hits you in the face, it may not penetrate your skull, but you will still get hit veery hard in the face and go unconscious + break your nose or jaw (I know, too much realism can destroy the fun in a game)

Hopefully the hunting scope will fit on the hunting rifle, which is the B95 :) But since current DayZ had no wind and other things making harder, just bulletdrop, a semi-auto anti-material rifle, which fires rather fast and can penetrate "everything", things would get rather messy in DayZ. (Weapons like the Mosin, B95, SKS, Longhorn and nearly all pistols would be "useless") However, I could see this gun in DayZ, if it was balanced -

I prefer "realistic" guns. Also, if there would be "your" 50cal-sniper-rifle in-game, all other guns would be worth- and useless, because the game would turn into "Call of Sniper: Sniperfield Online" ;) However, if smth. like this is added, ammo should be even harder to find than the gun itself. ;)- 142 replies

You must be fun @ parties. ;) I think too much realism can destroy the fun. Overall, it's a game. DayZ is a "hard-core" game, which is already a lot more un-forgiving for mistakes than other games. And it will become harder. But do you really want to have to look for threats such as rusty ladders, brushing your teeth every hours, etc...? :D

You're right. Items should have more than 30min to keep it realistic xD Maybe ~45min-1hr? I know the trick with ice and saw-dust (pykrete, right? :D ). Maybe you could combine ice+sawdust to make pykrete. Then Pykrete would be a slightly worse cool-pack than an ice-pack. Ice could be found in refrigs, and saw-dust could be made with knife+stick/firewood/kindling

I think, these items could become warm. But after a certain time being warm (say 15-30minutes), they start to become bad. So people have time to pick up items from a dead body and transport them to a save location. "where are we getting power for these things" As "unreal" as it sounds, cold/frozen things could be found in refrigerators, I believe. Yes, a refri. doesn't keep things cool/frozen for 3 years without energy, but in DayZ we can make an exception, I hope ;) (There are still fresh fruits to be found, the Gas will be still pristine, even though it has been for more than 2 years in a rusty container, etc.)

has been already suggested with pictures, etc. Freezer-box with 15 slots and ice-packs, which take up 2 vertical slots to keep the things inside (raw meat, blood, etc. cool and fresh) Coolpacks could be found in refrigerators. Would be AWESOME, if it would come.

Just as an info: these are the dispersions on the weapons(from the gamefiles): Rifles: Ruger 0.0019 Mosin: 0.0025 Blaze: 0.004 SKS: 0.005 AKM: 0.008 M4: 0.1 (with Bipod: 0.05) Bipod: -0.05 Pistols: Longhorn: 0.01 Amphibia S: 0.02 FNX-45: 0.03 CZ75: 0.03 Magnum: 0.03 1911: 0.03 P1: 0.03 But I don't know, what the dispersion actually means. Is it the % of the shots, which will spray totally random? Is it the deviation in inches per 100 yards?
