Because maybe you don't want to switch server because your friends are on that one or you can't because it's a private hive.
-
I think you don't get it. You only respawn in the same place if you're NOT killed by a player. Meaning if you suicide of a cliff in order to get a better spawn location, that will not work. Only if a player kills you you will get a new spawn location. So no camping and no timer or what ever.
-
A vehicle you don't have to repair before you can use it yes.
-
You make a very compelling argument... NOT Name one reason why this is a bad idea? You're not supposed to respawn until you find a spot you like. And I'm fairly certain that rocket is already thinking about similar methods.

We NEED some way to identify heros and bandits.

If you're that close, it's usually to late anyway. ;) -
What if you have no weapon? It's certainly more realistic than hero/bandit skins or a humanity system. I was simply trying to come up with a solution that would fit the "player made" profile. Sorry if you don't agree. If you have a better idea or a way to improve the situation I'm all ears. Some people...

Like I said, it's just a rough outline I threw out there for discussion. Not even sure something like this would be possible or useful. But maybe it inspires someone else. You never know.

Here's the quick post I made. I hope you guys don't mind that I used your names. But wanted to give credit. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/165503-herobandit-system-made-by-the-players/ -

I like your style ! :D But in all seriousness my idea about wanted posters and yours about flagging people for yourself, this could actually be some sort of hero/bandit system, implemented by the players themselves. I'll make a thread about, lets see how it goes :D -
Absolutely! The horse for sure won't care. Like I said in the companion thread, they should also be eatable :D
-
I don't think people will start eating their dogs if they have perfectly good canned beans and tuna laying around everywhere. But if companions get implemented, they should totally be kill and eatable :D

hey sorry I edited my post with an idea you just gave me. To answer your question, no I'm not for realism as long as it is convenient. I do believe they should implement something like skill and knowledge into the game (weapon handling to pick up your example). Rocket thinks otherwise and I have accepted that. But you're talking about loot respawning to facilitate gameplay. If I'm a bandit, explain to me how a certain skin or visual queue, showing everyone around me, what type of player I am, facilitates MY gameplay. Loot respawn for everyone. And again, I'd really really appreciate if you also took the time to read my thread about this (second one in my sig). You people keep mixing KoS and banditry, and they are not the same. -

I encourage you to read the second link in my signature. There is a HUGE difference between being a bandit and KoSing. People need to learn that difference. Bandits are real, and in real life you would never know who is a bandit and who isn't. KoS is not real (at least not to the degree it currently exists in the game). Thus it needs to be "addressed". There is no fixing it, because it's still a viable choice to play the game. It just shouldn't be that popular. Yeah because they could be identified by the authorities... I'd like to see you take a picture of me killing your buddy and then using that picture to hunt me down with the help of a news network and then send an angry mob after me. It's a zombie apocalypse, there are no authorities to be afraid of. It's like the wild west man! Sure they had bounty posters back then, and if you have a good idea to implement those as a game mechanic, I'm all ears. Come to think of it, thats actually not a bad idea... If you're a bandit and you kill someone. And some other survivor witnesses that killing he can "draw" a bounty poster of you and put them up around chernarus. And if you don't wear a mask and someone who came across that poster, comes within 50m of you, he will get some sort of warning queue that you are the bandit that's being looked for! -
Idea: Fix KoS complaints, nametags, and many future problems by introducing "in game language"
phoboss replied to ace42 (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I can already see the million topics of people complaining about the "fake medics" on the coastline who pretend to help you and then just kill you and steal your stuff ;) But I do see a certain appeal to your idea. I'm all for more forms of communication. Signs, hand signals, shouting... what ever. -

Come up with a real world equivalent and I'm all game, until then, this just favors a certain playstyle and thus is not going to happen. -
Some proposal for the game- a new point of sight maybe.

Possible or not, the fact of the matter is, Rocket won't implement NPC into DayZ. Unless he changed his mind about that in the last couple of weeks, which I highly doubt -
Yes I believe you're right, the list of more pressing matters is literally 2km (or 1.2 miles) long, BUT I don't believe its impossible. Even if its part of a DLC or big content patch after the full release. I think it would be a really great addition to DayZ. Transportation, load carrier, companion, food source ;) Anyway, possible or not, I'd love to see it happen sometime. Even if its 2 years from now.

That would be the idea yes.

^this Sorry to say, but you can most definitely put this issue to rest, because this will never happen. Rocket said this a gazillion times. There will be no visual queues to identify a persons playstyle. You want to know why? Because it would take away a certain playstyle from people. Lying! "I'm friendly I'm friendly" *BÄM* Shot in the back. And rocket does not want to force that on players. So nope, no way to tell if someone is a bandit or hero through visual "effects". Also Bandits are not a problem. If you disagree, then DayZ is not the game for you. -
Sometime it takes a while to find the right server. Simply have a timer that multiplies everytime you switch, that prevents you from joining another server. Problem solved. You can switch once without a delay, after that you have a one minute delay, then 2, then 4, 8, 16... and so on... The timer only resets if you play on one server for at least 30 minutes.

How to fix KoS and banditry with this great system
phoboss replied to phoboss's topic in General Discussion
I don't think ammo will ever be that rare, but I get your point and it's basically what I think as well. If we get to the point where you have more to lose than to gain from killing others, KoSing will happen much less frequently. -
You can always disconnect from the game if you have to, just not while under attack or while fighting. I don't think thats unreasonable. This system punishes people for "cheating". Which combatlogging is. Your're cheating your way out of a death or robbery by disconnecting. If you have bad diarrhea, and have to leave right this instance then thats to bad, but why should my gaming experience suffer because you have to leave. Instead of a timer you could also go the other way around and say, as long as you're not in combat, you can exit immediately, but your char stays in game for 30 more seconds. This way you don't have to wait if you really need to leave this second, but you can't just run away from a confrontation. At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter. Combatlogging will be addressed accordingly, and from what I can tell, you won't like it. But like I said in my original post, for a lot of people PvP is a big part of the game, and you cheating them of this experience by leaving instantly, is just wrong. Under normal circumstances everybody should have 15-30 seconds before logging out. If you don't then don't play DayZ. As for the 2 minutes while in combat, hell if it where up to me, I'd say you stay in the game for 10 minutes when you combatlog. But thats just my personal opinion.
-
I take it you never sat on a horse before? Those Bitches are fast ;) But I get where you're coming from. But instead of nerfing them through speed I think there are better ways of making cars a better form of transportation. For example a horse is a very shy animal, so you could make them throw you off a lot if they hear shots or get attacked by zombies. Also they get wounded easily.

How to fix KoS and banditry with this great system
phoboss replied to phoboss's topic in General Discussion
I'd say it's the game, because it doesn't punish death enough and rewards survival to little. But that will come, give it time. The players just adapt to the games mechanics, and right now, KoS is the easiest way playing the game. If that changes, then so will the players.
