Where is everyone? NW Airfield not a hotspot anymore?
phoboss replied to Denzje's topic in General Discussion
After being fed up with the cherno->new cherno->balota round, we decided to move up north and to our surprise 1 hour after server restart the military loot at vybor was still there and we ended up having some nice pvp with a couple other guys. no hoppers or combat loggers. pretty good experience. -
100% agreed. Like I said, combatlogging is basically like cheating to me. They are the worst players!
-
Not true, I'd be very much against that. And I hate combatloggers just as much as I hate cheaters/hackers. There are literally a million reasons why I might have to log out at some point during playing. And then just standing there for 5-15 minutes is way to long. Players, zombies or (maybe in the future) even wild animals could come by and kill me and all because I had to take a shit? Nope, way to simple.
-
But in what radius and for how long? The Problem with the crappy internet is something I thought pretty hard on for a while, maybe they could be safe from zombies if the actually have disconnect? Sure they could always pull the network cable if attacked by zombies, but who'd go through that much trouble to avoid zombies? And if they did, fine, if you want to play the game that way. It doesn't affect me. And I also remember rocket talking about the possibility of the zombies in the vicinity of your character being safed as well when logging out. That way, if you have a disc, you're safe from the zeds until you log back in :)
-
That is pretty close to what I'm suggesting. The problem with the DayZero solution is, you can just hide for 30 seconds and avoid combat that way. As I'm sure you're aware of, combat in DayZ is much slower than it is in other shooters. Meaning I could shoot at you, and you run for cover. I wait a couple of seconds to see what your next move is, then decide to advance on your location. By the time I get there, you could've logged out in those 30 seconds.
-
Well with 500.000 people playing this game its pretty normal that things get discussed over and over again. And I would just ask that you take 5 minutes to actually read my post, and then give your opinion about the topic and not the fact that it's the millionth post about it.

Personally, I'd love to see this baby! :D
-
I think most people would disagree. If you are in a firefight no matter where you are (hidden or not) if you log out, its combatlogging. Period! The guy chasing you could still get you, and you are avoiding that by logging out.
-
Could be a bug, could be a secretly implemented feature (although doubtful ) or the coast wasn't as clear as you thought.
-
Gamebreaking... people are pretty liberal with that term... how is combatlogging or disappearing bodies gamebreaking? Is it really annoying and take out the fun in the game? DEFINITELY! But is the game unplayable until this is fixed? Nope... Not in the slightest. A gamebreaking bug is something that renders the game unplayable. Like if you couldn't loot any kind of item at all, or all zombies are invisible and one hit kill you. With bugs like these the game couldn't be played. But combatlogging is just really really annoying. And its getting fixed, so put a tampon in and tell your mom about it

I agree with you on most weapons. Dmr ans as50 are definitely taboo. I think all semi auto or one shot kill long range rifles should be out of the game. To overpowered and to easy to use. MGs is a hard one because I think it would be fun to mount them on a window in the new cherno 12 story's and do some nice suppression fire. But I do agree that in a zombie apocalypse where you have to carry food and water and medic supplies probably no one would carry around a 12kg gun. So for these to make sense we need a weight system in the game first. I also agree that every weapon should spawn with at least one magazine of ammo. Smg maybe even 2. With the amount of different weapons you could not pick up every type of ammo you find and then hope to find the gun, or vice versa.

Issues that should be addressed before release
phoboss replied to [email protected]'s topic in General Discussion
Please stop with the complaining about the M4 being to common.... don't you people realize that the only reason for this is that there are no other guns implemented yet? (aside from the mosin). Once the shotgun and other weapons are in, the M4 will spawn far less often. Yeah yeah, bla bla bla you get that its alpha bla bla bla... no obviously you don't, otherwise you wouldn't even mention this... Because the only reason it is this way is because of the alpha state... -
How not to Rage losing a fully equipted character
phoboss replied to GenericSurvivor's topic in General Discussion
you're simply approaching this game wrong if you rage about dying. it's the main reason this game is where it is now. because it's different than all the others. you die, you lose everything, you start over. a big part of the fun is starting over and scavanging for new gear. and always follow the first rule of dayz: NEVER GET ATTACHED TO YOUR GEAR -
I completely agree with you on sacriel he's getting more attention than his personality can handle. But this was live on stream and I saw it. And there is a hack that can teleport you up to 50m.
-
Yes he even admitted in chat that he was a subscriber, but that was not the point. He warped right in, hit him with an axe and disappeared again. Then when sacriel tried to bandage himself, he reappeared and killed him.
-
yes, of course.
-
I like the idea a lot, for me there is only one problem. I often switch the server multiple times in the first 10 minutes because of lag, desync, or bad fps.
-
I eat apples, oranges and bananas all the time. If they're not "rotten" they will not make you sick.
-
wow you're really not getting it are you? VALVE/STEAM/VAC DECIDES WHO GETS BANNED AND WHO DOESN'T!!! Rocket can't to shit about it!
-
other people watch the stream as well... and yes, I am one of them.
-
they did not get him banned from steam... he reported it to the server hoster. they do not have the power to ban people from steam. that is only possible if VAC is active, which is not the case atm.
-
So yeah, basically title says it all. Been playing SA for about 45 hours and for me its not the bugs, or the potential hacker that kills DayZ, its the damn server hoppers. No matter where you go to get some military gear, there are server hoppers everywhere. They are killing this game and I think before anything else this needs to be addressed. Combat logging being the other big issue right now. Haven't had a single firefight without someone combat logging... I don't even get the point of server hopping. You hop for 30 minutes, then you're fully geared, and then what?! PvP to combat log everytime you don't have the upper hand? Get killed and repeat?! I get the whole being in alpha stage right now, but this is really taking the fun out of the game, and in my opinion needs to be the next big todo on the list, not implementing hunting or cooking, fixing zombies or anything. Server hopping is the biggest issue at hand at the moment. Just my 2 cents

I read somewhere in this forum that saline actually just gives you a temporary boost. if not well fed and hydrated the gained blood will be lost over time... not sure if true though

Tell that to the million heroin junkies on this planet... Medical knowledge? No. Practice? Yes. I worked in an OR during my civil service and the doctor there taught me in 10 minutes how to lay an IV. You can practice with an orange ;)
