The M4 sound is very bad, along with the ballistics

The sounds (including local VoIP) don't travel far enough either. -
Is there even weapon condition? I thought only attachments had conditions. When I hover over the weapon all I get is a blank item description.

Well, its been 60+ years since Mosins have been new. That's a lot of years of corrosive ammo being shot through it to seriously ruin the bore. Lots of eastern bloc ammo has corrosive salts on the primer which if not cleaned properly and neutralized will eat the bore away. But beyond all that its probably a play balance issue to prevent too much sniping in the Alpher.

Road map for future weapons/gear? (suggestions included)

Also anyone else think the sounds of weapons need work? -
By hitting the '-' key or some other way? I've got 1 kill against players with the Mosin and all it took was one shot right to the heart. Silly guy thought he could take on 4 people.

I was unable to even eject any rounds and had to wait till i had shot all 5 before dragging a new stack on. Also the bolt is the wrong kind to be used with a scope of any kind. I'd like to see the abilitty to reload with 'R' if stripper clips were in the game. But you couldn't use them with scopes, nor could you load if there were any rounds left. Here's a pic of what the bent bolt looks like:

All great points. True that the chenarussian farmers can't get American firearms but are we going to be confined to Chenarus? If so then my list is null but if we got US or more western maps, then it might apply. I mean we're getting a Colt Python which should never show up anywhere overseas so why is it added? -

DISCLAIMER - Yes, I know it's an alpher... I'm also not currently up to date on the info though; I'm completely new to the DayZ franchise Has our beloved leader Rocket mentioned anything about what he plans to add in terms of guns, survival gear, or general loot? Has he mentioned whether he's going to keep the theme feel more Eastern Bloc or Western? If you have any answers to the above, I'd love to see what the DayZ staff has to say. *** Incoming suggestions, stop here if you don't care to hear my opinion *** Since this is a survival game that takes place during a zombie appocalypse, I feel that us players, play as citizens caught in the malestrom of a world gone upside down. We're not trained warriors, first responders, police, mercinaries or ex-military. We're school teachers, desk-jockies, factory workers, etc... For this reason, I feel that we're unprepared for this world. I also feel that we've been abandoned by our greater government. Whether it be that they got beat back or that they just gave up on us, but all we have to live on is what we've left and the very little that the government forgot to take with them. Because of these reasons, I feel that DayZ should be dominated by civilian gear, weapons, and items. Right now we're all trying to clamor for military equipment because thats whats mostly in game. I feel that military grade equipment should be rarer than hen's teeth. We should be living off civilian camping, hunting, and hospital type gear. DayZ is lacking a lot of that minus the hospital bit, so I'm going to suggest some additional weapons that could be implemented and should hopefully align with Rocket's vision. 1) Firearms in .22lr. .22lr is a very ubiquitous caliber. It's a great training tool, it's easy to find and purchase (both ammo and firearms), and it's easy to shoot. The ammo and weapons are light weight and easy to carry and are great at killing small game (so it's a good survival tool). In a pinch it can be used to defend yourself too (.22lr doesn't have a lot of instant kills, but does kill quite effectively due to the target bleeding out). A box of .22lr should only take up one inventory slot but hold something like 250 rounds. Examples: .22lr revolver - something like a S&W model 17 or 18. Slow reload, accurate, but doens't require magazines. .22lr auto pistol - anything goes here. Maybe Ruger 22/45. Something that takes a 10rnd magazine. .22lr auto rifle - Ruger 10/22 is a great example. Takes 10rnd or 25rnd mags and is very customizable .22lr bolt action - Ruger New American Rimfire because it shares mags with the 10/22 .22lr take down - Like the Henry AR-7. You can sling it on your back, but it also disassembles into a small package for easier backpack carry. Walk around with yoru primary defensive rifle and keep this in your pack in case you need to kill a rabbit and don't want to waste your precious 5.56. Mags hold 8 rounds. 2) Revolvers in .38 Special and .357 magnum. I know we're getting the Python which is awesome. We should have some lower powered, smaller sisters of the Python also. .357 revolvers can also shoot .38 so they make great survival guns as they have more ammo options. A .38 spl service revolver. Something with a 4" barrel. 6 shots. A .38 spl snub nose revolver. Short barrel makes it easier to store in your pack at a cost of accuracy (maybe a 5 shot since it's so small). The Python we're getting (already have?). Allow it to shoot .357 or .38 spl (for reduced damage). 3) More civilian shotguns. I don't know which we'll have in game, but I think we need more civilian types. Over under, side by side, pump action and semi auto but mostly configured for hunting (long barrels, smaller magazines). Also vary the sizes of shells besides just 12ga. Maybe 16ga and/or .410 bore. I see we're getting slugs and buckshot. Will we be able to hunt birds with birdshot? Maybe add lots of mods (shorter barrels, different stocks, mag extentions) to make them more 'tactical'. 4) Medium sized game rifles. Basically deer rifles. These are simple, effective, and rugged rifles in non military calibers. Some examples include: Winchester model 1894 in 30-30 (a very common and popular deer caliber that has similar ballistics to 7.62x39) A lever action in .357 to match with the above mentioned revolvers A civilian bolt action with iron sights and a mannlicher style stock. In something like .243. 5 round internal magazine. A larger bore hunting rifle like the Ruger Guide Gun or the Savage Arms Hog Hunter. Large .338 or 7mm magnum with a reduced internal magazine size (3 rounds). (obviously civilian scopes should be available to add to these as well as bipods) 5) Civilian carbines in miltary calibers. These are nice because you can use the more common military ammo but in a less effective rifle. Some should use non-military magazines and other should share them. Examples are: Ruger Mini-14. Semi-auto, chambered in 5.56 but uses propritary magazines in 5, 10, and 20 round sizes. KelTec SU16. Semi-Auto, foldable, chambered in 5.56 and is compatible with STANAG mags. Mossberg MVP Patrol. A bolt action chambered in 5.56 that is compatible with STANAG mags. *** Some current concerns *** The Mosin in game uses "7,62". Are we going to differentiate this betwen the many different .30 cal rounds? Like 7.62x54r and 7.62x39? Also, the Mosin has to be manually reloaded by dragging the loose ammo. Makes sense, but will we be able to get stripper clips to pre load and use R to reload them when empty? Also the Mosin has a straight bolt handle which should work with the PSU scope. Many Mosins are called "former snipers" becuase they once had the scope mounted and still have the bent bolt handle. Maybe remodel it for that? *** Final words *** Sorry for the long winded post. Hopefully you guys enjoy it.
