    It's in times like these that I find peace and tranquility knowing that no one man is responsible for the creation of a game, not even Rocket. Just like a ship without a captain, the crew wouldn't stop sailing in the middle of the ocean, that won't get them anywhere. I keep wondering how people think game development works. I am in no way an expert but I do know enough to say that even if he was to leave as soon as tomorrow, the entire project wouldn't be doomed. After all, this is peoples work, their livelyhood, and there are several of these people, working on different things side by side, currently overwatched by a Lead Designer: Dean Hall. Without him the team is just that: a team. And they are quite competent as far as i've seen. Besides, i don't even worry that Rocket will be gone completely, but he will have to move on to bigger and better things eventually, and IMO we will all gain from that in the long run, by having a library of Rocket's games, rather than just his survival vision.... Mountaineering game anyone???
  2. Can you maybe share with us your specs? I've been thinking for a while now that it might be rig-dependent. (ie. if your computer is seriously bottlenecking at the hdd or something, this might give you an increase, otherwise no).
  3. Confirming yet again. Last time my ssd (Dayz is not on this, but my win7 64bit is) wouldn't show up on the list of drives, so i couldn' t boot for ~5 min. Only happens when exiting DayZ.

    Im gonna go ahead and ask a question that might be a little dumb: If i rollback my version to stable, will i have to download update again to play experimental, or does it save both versions? (i only have 100gb/month)

    So i managed to get a mosin and paint it green before i died of starvation. (Bad decision following the huge crowd north along the shore for a good amount of time, but fun none the less) Too dark to get a decent screenshot, but it's a little vague in the color (judging from inv view), but it makes me think we might be able to do layers? :) Also im waiting to get in again as i imagine we all are.. (damn you respawn button!)

    We're getting way ahead of ourselves here but i think bodies should still be connected to the player, in order to somehow combat people looting themselves.. Just a small addition to your suggestion. :)

    Thanks a bunch :) I'll try it next time i will be recording to see if it fixes my alt+tab freeze. If i find out how to make it work in fullscreen again i will post my solution.

    I have used Shadowplay before in DayZ (works just fine, but theres a hella long delay when alt+tab'ing for some reason). Now i cannot get it to work, red slash through the logo as well, but no freezing other than when alt+tab.

    You like zombie shooters, then :) DayZ is mostly about the struggle of surviving, i.e. not finding anything and litterally never being safe. The concept of permadeath would be ridiculous if it only takes 10 mins to get geared.. that way you might as well spawn with your gear, saving an extra 10 mins and eliminating the need to be careful at all, making it basically a slow-paced FPS without a scoreboard. The game is 10% shooting and 90% looking for stuff/people while running.

    Hand slot and Weapon slings

    Hand as actual inventory slot - Yes, please. Sling required to put guns on your back - Fuck yes! Double-sling-ting - Maybe when we have a weight system implemented, but not as long as there is no proper penalty. .. That's all i have to say about that.

    Im not a huge fan of the humanity system, never was.. but i do like the idea of finding complete sets of clothing around, like riot gear, a firemans uniform and such.. About the ghillie, people have been talking about crafting them, which IMO would bring a lot more to the game than just finding them.. perhaps a bit of both?

    So, seeing the WIP photos of the new shotguns, i got to thinking. How do people feel about dual wielding in the game? Think two sawed off shotguns, one in each hand! Maybe even let one hand/gun follow your headview, allowing you to practically shoot in two directions at once, i.e shooting behind you while running, or left/right coverfire. Though i know this is not a practical decision (accuracy should be out the window, maybe a slower reload), we are not trained soldiers as we spawn on the coast, so someone finding to revolvers in a row would definitely wield both those badboys! the scarefactor alone is awesome! Also, it would actually be a viable tactic if you found yourself completely surrounded by a horde of zombies, and weren't carrying around a chainsaw.. Thoughts?

    Humor aside, i am actually all for that.. i mean, grabbing your crotch might be a little excessive, i'm sure you get the point. But as previously stated, I guess I see the technical difficulties of implementing a lot of those things and after all they are not even close to a necessity, which is why i didn't put this in the suggestion forum originally. I started out just imagining that desperate moment where you just throw everything you've got at an enemy, which granted might be a little overboard, in retrospect. But this topic has taught me that DayZ IMHO needs some bad choices in general, I mean the must fun people are having ATM are with rotten fruit and disinfectant, which has nothing to do with proper surviving, but never really bothered anyone.

    ^Watch the above and tell me again about limbs flying off everywhere.. This is just a single example. ^ This is what happens when you fuck up, and i would LOVE to see some dude do that because he is trying to multitask with his other hand, or maybe he is holding two weapons (one is for his mate and his own shotty in the other hand for carry), and he needs to make the quick shot. I want to emphasize again how i DO NOT BELIEVE that everyone in DayZ are trained soldiers, and so we need to be able to pull off some shit that might not make sense to one.
